Do you know how to bake a pumpkin pie? I made one with the pumpkin that I grew from my garden. I love eating the food that I grew from my garden. The concept from the garden to table is how we should eat. Thanksgiving time is the best season for experimenting and giving thanks for the blessings from the garden.

pumpkin spice and everything nice[Music]hello and welcome to catherine’s gardenwell this is the season of Thanksgivingand this is the time for pumpkins yes[Music]this 2019 growing season I planted apumpkin patch and it alsoacorn squash and I did get a pumpkinthat’s right a pumpkin one pumpkinactually survived on the vine and thepatch was just beautiful it was veryhealthy and lovely and you can see thatthere was the possibility of a lot ofthe pumpkins because of the differentblooms that were on the vines and it wasvery beautiful and I really do like theleaves of the pumpkins and of squash andyou know that pumpkin and squash thebutternut squash and acorn squash thatthey’re all related they’re in the samefamily and with pumpkin it grows throughtrails and it did just that drought allthe way up through the bed here ontothis maple tree that I’ve been shadeand it hung there and it spent the timejust growing and becoming so beautifulso I’ve been using my long littlepumpkin as part of my Thanksgivingdisplay and it’s so cutelast year I had many more pumpkins and Iwas able to make pumpkin pies I want tomake a pumpkin pie with this pumpkin andI want to puree this pumpkin myself andI found this recipe on youtube and Ireally want to try it out I also havethis butternut squash here too and theperson said that we could actually useany of our squashes to create a purrpurr yay – or filling a pie filling andseeing that this is Thanksgiving weekand tomorrow is Thanksgiving I want totry this out and see how this pie isgoing to work out I’m going to make myown pie crust and I don’t know I’m goingto be original about it so come with meas I go through the process we shall seewhat it turns out to me but isn’t thepumpkin pretty yep I grew it in mygarden Catherine’s garden so if pumpkin and also about the squashthe butternut squashnow I had about a is so budding thesquash throughout the season and I grewaboutlet’s see about seven pumpkins and Ihave three more left on my mantle andthis is the foot one and I’m going tocut this one up period and parade Ithink it’s pronounced parade makepumpkin puree and make a pumpkin pie forThanksgiving let’s see if we can getthis all done thank you continue towatch and see[Music][Music][Music]cut the pumpkin in half but you’reseeing a sharp knife down one side butthat’s what I’m going to do here withthis pumpkin I’m going to open it up andpull out the seeds roast it and gothrough this full process here as theyhave and then I’m going to put it on thebaking sheet and and then put it in theoven make it soft and ready this is thepart that I found very interesting yeahso now I have all those butternut squashso I can do this with the butternutsquash too I don’t have a food processorbut I have a nutribullet and I’m goingto use that and blend and make it smoothand use it to make my pumpkin becauseI’ve never done this beforeI had to definitely go on YouTube andfind a video on how to puree the pumpkinand so I really like the inspired stylerecipe oh this came out pretty prettyeasy there way of doing it[Music]so I’m going to just cut this pumpkin inhalf Wowthat’s what it looks like inside[Music]you can see all those seeds too so I’mgoing to scrape off out the seeds and Imight just roast these seeds and we’llhave pumpkin seeds as well so I think myhand might be easier trying to do it sofancy it’s a lot of seeds could youthink think about iteach of these seeds comprise a pumpkinplant I think I’m going to save some ofthese seeds to do to plant in the gardennext year that’s one down here’s theother side thank God for my instanttools thank God for my ready-made toolsmy hands and fingersthose seats hopefully this would beenough pie filling hopefully this wouldbe enough pie filling to fill the piemaybe I should have chosen the biggerone but we’ll work with what we have allright so I scooped it out look at all ofthese seeds WowI could possibly have pumpkins growingall throughout my yard next year pumpkinvines that is Wow next I could probablyhave a whole lot of pumpkin plants andpumpkin vines going throughout my yardnext spring planting these seeds okaylet me not get distracted by the seedsokay so I have them have and I’m goingto just put some salt on it[Music]just try and get it to fit there we goand then now I’m going to just tuck putit in the oven I think I’m gonna put itto bake at 350 and just leave it thereso I’ve just finished roasting mypumpkin seeds and also my pumpkin pureethe pumpkin but um here are the seedsnow let me try it out so let me try itout the pumpkin seedsso I I turned it over so that you couldsee what it looks like in the insideafter it’s been baked so it’s nice andsoft and tender and what I’m doing isactually just scooping out the insidehere scooping it up and pouring it in tothis ball just kind of it’s so easy tomanipulate here[Music]so I’ve scooped it upand that’s what it looks like and hereit is in the ball I’m going to put therest of it in the bow and you’ll workfrom there there was even sort of likesugar I think funny you see that it’svery sweet very goodI used my nutribullet rx to parade thepumpkin and to create the pumpkinfilling and it wasn’t that difficult Ijust put it in there and let it blendand well I ran out of pie crust and so Idecided I’m gonna try out my own piecrust so I have some almonds left backand I had butter flour and I just kindof mixed it together and created thislike crumble with some sugar as well andput it at the bottom of the pie panand it’s gonna become my own creation soI just supposed together I’m lightingthe bottom I’m gonna add the pumpkinpuree within the parameter put sweetcondensed milk some cinnamon salt and alittle bit of this ground cloves just togive that pumpkin flavor so we’ll seewhat it tastes like it’s something newsomething different and if I’m the onlyone eating it fine but I believe it’sgonna taste good with some ice cream ontop so let me get busy so I put thepumpkin puree in the bowl and now I’mgoing to add this can 14 ounces ofsweetened condensed milk inside and itgoes while it’s pretty[Music]so I’m editing the milk then mixing itup with the pumpkin now I’m going to addin some cinnamon and also some of theseother ingredientsthink a tablespoon but I’m only going to[Music]close just a little – anything it smellsgood so I’m just gonna mix this up andblend it in real nice and then put it inthe pie plate the oven is already on sothis is what we have here the mixturethe pumpkin filling mixture mixture thisis what we have here the pumpkin fillingand it’s inside of my original pie crustand I’m going to pop it in the oven at375 let it bake for about an hour or soand we will see what comes out I believeit’s going to taste good it’s going tobe differentand it has to taste good because italready taste the filling tastesdelicious with the condensed milk thepuree and all of the differentseasonings I put in the cinnamon but Ialso addedginger in it too just to give it alittle kick and I think it’s going totaste good especially with some vanillaice cream on top everything tastes goodlittle bell ice cream on top this isgonna taste good too well let’s put itin and we’ll wait and see for theresults of this original pumpkin piewell I’ve completed the pie it is doneyes here is my pumpkin pie for thisThanksgiving Day celebration from gardento table my little pumpkin is now apumpkin pie that we are going to enjoyand yes I have my original crust hereand that little hole is that I wastesting it out to make sure that it wascomplete in the middle but it looks goodand I believe it’s going to tastedelicious with a little ice cream on theside it’s going to be a wonderfuldessert treat for Thanksgiving wellHappy Thanksgivingthere is the pie and I’m going it in front of you it is veryvery good[Music]it has a strong arm and taste because ofthe homage to the crest and then itcould taste the others seasonings theymay need a little bit more nutmegbecause I didn’t have nothing to put initpumpkins these things come forth likethe cinnamon and the almond so it tastesreally really good I’m enjoying it andit’s definitely delicious with the icecream[Music]for
