The Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C 2022: when is TV series and contestants with Alex Horne and Annie Mac
Channel 4 is raising money for the Stand Up to Cancer appeal with a celebrity edition of The Great British Bake Off
The Great British Bake Off is returning with a celebrity edition once again to raise money for Channel 4’s Stand Up to Cancer appeal.
The five-part series, which includes contestants such as Katherine Kelly and Annie Mac, will begin on Tuesday 22 March. For one episode only, Matt Lucas will compete rather than host, a replacement for a last-minute dropout.
Here’s everything you need to know about The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2022.
Who will be taking part?
Each week will see four celebrities attempt three different baking challenges.
Week 1 will feature TV presenter Emma Willis, broadcaster Clara Amfo, Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners), and Alex Horne (Taskmaster).
Week 2 will feature comedian Ruby Wax, choirmaster Gareth Malone, Love Island host Laura Whitmore, and musician Yung Filly making a fruit turnover, chocolate fondant, and a meringue.
Week 3 (Tuesday 6 April) will feature DJ Annie Mac, comedian Ed Gamble and rapper Elliot Gleave/Example, alongside host Matt Lucas who stepped in as a contestant when a celebrity had to drop out suddenly.
It’s not yet been revealed exactly when the rest of the celebrities will appear, or who they’ve been grouped with, but over the next few weeks you can expect to see broadcaster Annie Mac, actor and children’s author Ben Miller, comedian Ed Gamble, and singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding.
Emma Willis, singer-songwriter Example, choirmaster Gareth Malone, and Katherine Kelly (Bloods), as well as Love Island host Laura Whitmore and comedian Mawaan Rizwan will all appear as well.
Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah, Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse, comedian Ruby Wax, TV presenter Sophie Morgan, actress Tracy-Ann Oberman, and musician Yung Filly complete the lineup.
Matt Lucas, who typically hosts Bake Off with Noel Fielding, takes part as a contestant this year, standing in for someone who was suddenly unavailable.
Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will once again be judging, with Noel Fielding as host.
What will they make?
Contestants complete three tasks during Bake Off: the signature, the technical, and the showstopper.
In week one, they’ll make decorated biscuits in the Signature, madeleines in the Technical, and a choux sculpture which embodies their secret talent in an ambitious Showstopper.
In week two, they’ll make fruit turnover in the Signature, chocolate fondant for the Technical, and a meringue showstopper.
