Giant Cookie Bowl Sundae – The Cooking Show



This monster cookie bowl sundae is the craziest thing to come out of the Munchies Test Kitchen so far. Farideh uses a classic chocolate chip cookie recipe for this giant sundae bowl, with chocolate chips, sugar, vanilla extract, and plenty of butter. After completing the cookie dough, Farideh demonstrates how to grease a metal bowl for the cookie bowl mold, how to ensure the cookie bowl doesn’t expand while it bakes, and why cookie dough should chill before it goes in the oven. Lastly, Farideh assembles this colossal sundae with cookie dough ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry on top.

they see me rollin we bake him we’repicking that cookie ball right fromscratch when you guys roll we’re in amunchies Test Kitchen cooking show withyour host paradise today we are gonnamake a giant cookie bowl what does thateven mean we’re gonna bake cookie doughinto this and we’re gonna flip it outand we’re gonna make a huge giant icecream sundae in this cookie bowl now youmay have seen me do this once before acouple years ago the reason why you mayhave not seen on YouTube only onFacebook because Peter shot everythingin slo-mo on his camera so came outwhile walking Peter it looks really goodit was so artistic cut to that video cutdo it are you in normal motion right nowyeah okay we’re gonna make cookie doughso first things first we’ve got threesticks of butter does that may seem likea lot and it is I guess what that’s partof cookies you got a lot of sugar yougot a lot of butter you got a lot ofdeliciousness okay one of the mostimportant things of this recipe is thatyou’re creaming your butter and sort ofthe first step we’re going to be using 1cup of white sugar and about 1 and 1/2cups of brown sugar brown sugar hasmolasses in it and it’s going to givemore moisture and make the cookies alittle bit more fluffy stuff like thatbut we did it initially back in the daywhen my good friend Lauren cinnamon whowas one of the founders of munchies waslike challenged me basically to makethis you’re waiting for it to get lightand fluffy the sugar is not going todissolve completely but it’s gonna likelike see how a yellow it is right nowand like brown it’s gonna lighten upquite a bit and ultimately you’re gonnaresult in a fluffier chewy or moredeliciousyeah one pack of you have to do this butjoke’s on you I’m gonna scrape down thesides a little bit just so I can get inthere I like a hand mixer you can do itin a stand mixer if you wanted to eitherway you’re not gonna want to do this byhand because you will not achieve thesame results kids trust that too youknowI’m gonna crack my eggs into this justgonna add my vanilla right in with theeggs and as I go one at a time right inthere let it incorporate fully beforeyou add in the next one you get thatslow on this is a good time to do someOh[Applause][Music]beautiful right it’s funny we can add inour dry ingredients baking soda 2teaspoons gonna add it and then ourforward and I got a little bit of saltabout a teaspoons worth or so we’ve gotchocolate chips 24 ounces two bags or sothen we got our flour into our wetingredients here gonna add a little bitat a time I’m gonna go on slow speed forthis because I don’t want a big dustcloud of flour to hit me in my faceright now I mean I’m saying my cookie isa really soft fatty there’s a real softfatty then turn that off I’m gonna addmy chocolate chips now the reason I’mnot adding my chocolate chips with themixers I want my chips to stay wholeput in there they kind of break up a bitso I’m gonna add them in and I like toget in there with my hands and do thishere I’ll wash my hands to prove thatthey’re clean okayincreasing my bowl this is what I’mgonna buildI’m a cookie bowl in two and then we’regonna form it into hereabout a half an inch thick so you’llhave some extra dough at the end of itwhich is gone because then you can justeat it although I can’t lie to you youshouldn’t eat your who you don’t Ithought that was a lot of whenpeople were saying don’t eat your hookyou do get Salmonella Bobby block and Iwas like that’s so stupid like you knowwhat’s gonna get Salmonella from eatinglike a little bit of cookie dough butit’s not just the raw eggs that you haveto worry about with the video it’seating raw flour because raw flouractually a couple years ago a bunch offlowers recalled for some reason I don’tyou remember what don’t do thatoh yeah it’s eco I I’m not saying that’sgonna happen to you eco I I just soundlike a nerve when I say e coli so I’mlike eagle-eye okay with your beater youcan see my dough is nice fluffybeautiful delicious you can just eat itlike this I’m just kidding don’t youwant to get a coli or salmonella valuesay it Peter someone Noah now what I dois just do this about half an inch thickall up the side of us a greased fourquart this is a four quart Bowl you wantit ovenproof Bowl because this is goingin the oven okay it’s gonna get beat andthen after this we’re gonna chill thisdown the reason why I chilled my cookiesor anybody chills their cookie doughbefore they bake it is that the butterhardens again and it’s gonna result in abetter texture a better flavor it driesit out a little bit and what that doesis it’s gonna result is better browningso all these little thingsare the reason why we write the recipesthe way we write them when you’re bakingcookies I want to quickly show you guysthe video if I can find it I mean alotta making this the first time veryimportant moment of my life oh I foundit we did it the first thing we made itlook genuine just like look at him it’sso hot I bit my mouth with it that wasthe first attempt when I actually madethe cookie bowl it workedso what year is that 2017 August 11thtwo years ago it’s come a long way inthe last couple years nothing’s changedexcept my fresh dude half inch thick formy swap I did it too thick and didn’tcome out that well but I it’s fine butif I mess it up a bitokay people mess up all the time it’snot a big deal good over at Peter we’regonna blind-bake oh so got myparchment paper square all again likethat and then just gonna cut this offyou have a circle we’re gonna put mybeans in itthat’s weighing it down in there cuzagain we fluff this up so much it’sgonna rise too much and get too funnyand delicious we’re gonna chill thisdown for about an hour or so give me anhour or two before we bake it I have amagical swamp in here so I wanted tomake this recipe three times if I hadone that’s already chilled down onethat’s already cooked and then one thatI was gonna make which I just made foryou guys now but when I made this onetoday I wasn’t this morning we couldn’tfind the bowls and then we had him thismorning like last minute so I quicklylike if I can put it in there baked itand I realized put too much in here sowhat how thick this is it’s gonna befine but it now you can see thefrustrations in my life and how stupid Iam let this be a lesson to you followthe recipe read the recipe don’t be likeme and just think you know everythingand do it cuz you mean there must be twoyears ago that’s my advice you okaywhatever you get the idea right thisone’s actually gonna go into the fridgethis one is gonna go in the oven we’vegot all our swaps I’m gonna take thisone out and just see how what happenswith it this has been in the fridge forlike two hours351 hour right on in there let’s justcheck this out though it’s cooled downquite a bit I’m gonna just run my knifealong the outside it should come rightout if it doesn’t it’s so good this isperfect even though it’s thicker than itshould be
