Activity Lesson: Cooking – Healthy Cookies

Ms Katelyn and Ms Chelsea teach you how to make healthy cookies!

Recipe:
INGREDIENTS
• 1 cup sun butter
½ – ¾ cup honey
½ cup coconut oil (or butter if you prefer)
6 Tablespoons dark chocolate cocoa powder
2 teaspoons vanilla
2¼ cups gluten-free quick oats

INSTRUCTIONS
Note: The original recipe uses peanut butter – but of course, we didn’t use that so we used Sun Butter.
Combine first four ingredients in a sauce pan and warm gently on stove top. (or just use the microwave, like we did!)
Next, add in the vanilla, oatmeal, and stir well.
Drop by the spoonful onto a saran lined plate and let cool. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator – if they last that long.

hi guys again we’re back into thekitchen to cook some healthy no bigcookies so a couple of things you candate this is gluten free if you buy somefree oats also the original recipe callsfor peanut butter which probably isyummy if you can have that but we’regonna try it today with Sutton butter sowe are sensitive to allergies are youready kidsI’m not captain all right so we’re gonnastart with 1 cup of water speed butterto help get it out of the little cartonI warmed it up a little bit so it’ssoftened upyeahwe’re not allowed to try yet miss Jessie[Music]so we’re going to start off with thefirst four ingredients mixing togetherso the rest the original recipe says todo this over the stove but we’re justgonna do it a little lazier and do it inthe microwave so gonna be enough wallput one okay but one cup of your subbutter or peanut butter or whateverbutter you decided to use in your bowlnext will becoconut wellthisagain I put this in the microwave alittle bitcomes out of the dryerhalfmeah thereokaymaybe some extra cuz we like itHeylooks like we’re making nothing just arandom auction of thingsand then my most favorite part is addingthe chocolate mine tooI love dark chocolate and the darkchocolate really brings out more of thechocolate flavor in all of these healthycookies so we got dark chocolateall right got my tablespoon we need 6tablespoons of this chocolateit’s kind of messybe preparedtothree I’m doing some pretty nice sizeI really like chocolateI think that’s fiveyou lose counters on extraremember such thing as too muchchocolate all rightmix it up a little bit and then this isgonna go in the microwave I’ll probablydo like 30 seconds at a time just untilit’s like one big mixtureall right so about two two-and-a-halfminutes and I did every 30 seconds Iwould stop and mix it up to happen itwas just a little bit too much for usstarted almost bubbling it up but that’swhy you just do 30 second increments andreset so see how there are no clumpsit’s just almost like one big chocolatepudding so while that cools a little bitwe’re going to get our other sideyou’re going to getand 1/4and in gravel courts and Itwo teaspoons of vanillaso all of the mirror oats in the vanillanow we’re just going to move in thiswhole chocolate mixture it’s a littlebit all right I need to get a pot holderbecause it’s a little bit hot if I stuckit in for too long so you just want topour in your chocolate and mix in thereget all of the chocolate that’s the bestpart is all this chocolate goodnessall right scrape the bowl get it all inand then we’re gonna mix all this up Iprobably could have gone up a biggerspoon but I’m going with thisnormal-sized all right I needed to get abigger spoon because this food didn’tquite handle so I got a gigantic smoothwe will use to mix all of this intogether it’s starting to harden up youcan see mix it all in there’s no littledust left it all in there house smellingthis Chelsey delicious can’t wait to eatthem all right so this is it it’s prettymuch the dough so we have saran wraplined plate here such a fancy thing andyou’re just basically going to scoopmake sure you get to washeda little bit warm so we’ll just becareful and mindful of that in thebottom herethey are pretty crumbly so I’m just kindof like wishing Mellie into a ballmake them as big or small as you want[Music]so I started forming the Morningtoncookie shape so if you started off likeme me them bottles I’m just going toswish them down a little bit and formthem into a little cookie they are notbaking so whatever shape you make theminto is how they’re going to be for[Music]all right once your plate is done andfilled you’re just going to wait forthem to cool offlook text to see how long that takes forup but once they’re cooled and ready togo then you’re good to eat them in thereand then you keep them in the fridge andthey’re actually way better when they’rehey guys bad day so we’re going to trythese we let them cool we kind of putsome in the fridge that my dad wascheating a little bit but let’s turnCheersokra nice super good uh-huh I like itvery coconutty chocolatey sunflowerbuttery delishanyways we want to say thank you guysfor tuning in and subscribing there’s somany of you have reached out with kindwords you send us pictures we love thepictures we love those we’ve got videosout to keaton’s we love you yes wellkeep them comingwe love it we’ll leave the recipe belowso check it out if you guys want to makeit at home and we’ll see you next time
