do you like cornbread in a Dutch oven metoo I thought today we would try outdoorcooking some kind of can’t fiery outdoorcornbread baked in a Dutch oven projectexperiment thing it’s going to workright maybe let’s try this see whathappensmake fix grow cook garden fork[Music]so for simplicity’s sake i’m doing thison my weber grill so i have to be on theground but you should do it on a hardsurface a non flammable surface so I putsome terracotta stone stuffs down what’sthat tile called tile and we’re gonnathe first thing I do is start we’regonna use charcoal briquets because thatway you can you can fine-tune thetemperature that you’re baking thecornbread at and I learned this from mycousin Sharon she was on my podcast[Music]actually it depends on the size of yourDutch oven as to how many briquettes youneed and there’ll be a chart I’ll linkto below a chart you look at some indifferent sizes no but these are greatthe briquettes are not evil people arebig into chunk charcoal I think thesework just fine you want to argue commentbelow somebody’s going to looselycrinkle paper chimney starter you stillgive the newspaper so before the pieceof paper burns out I put some more paperunderneath there that’s how I get itwant and hot it’s okay it’s just my eyesare you need some glassesI should just be on the other side wherethe smoke is not yes rotate did you dothis on a windy dayno well you can it depends on if you’recamping I just like to be outside andI’m like instead of using the oven andit’s to me this is the challenge can wedo this my cousin Sharon does us all thetime I’ll link to the podcast she was onthe garden fork radio podcast there wasa lot of fun to talk to heryou mean can you do this without burningyour hand yes people like fire that’swhy they’re watching fire garden forcorn and cornbread in a Dutch oven so Igot to go to the store and get the Loomfile you’ll learn why in a little bitthis will cook up Labradors will beLabradors I’ll be right backall right that’s maybe a little too longso we need a way to get the Dutch ovenoff the ground or waive your cooking sothe coals been going to need you can buylittle things trivets or you can takeand make these aluminum feet so ourcornbread cooks at 375 degrees there’s awhole chart that I will link to but wewant seven coals on the bottom here andI’m going to err on the side of maybe mycoals are a little weak and puts a fewmore fails don’t really sell thedirection right we want um most of yourheat I learned from my cousin Sharon onthe podcast you want the heat comingfrom the top which explains why I burnedmy no need bread oh yeah that’s burnvideos too that will be at the end[Music]Betty are wobblyfour four tablespoons of oil or youcould put melted butter bacon fat workstoo just depends on what yourpreferences and then I have a my dryingredients here whole-wheat flourcornmeal baking powder I’ll link they’llbe a recipe below here I’ve got two eggsand a cup of milk oh maybe I shouldn’thave done that my idea yeah we have aninterested viewer hereokay our wet ingredients go into our dryingredients special ingredient frozencorn you can use a can of creamed corntoo but that affects your liquid levelslike a cup and a half two cups a half abag you could to seek frozen corn oh heactually does this oh good no merfolkI’m going to fold this in so I’m justgoing to turn this so that this goes upon the sides a little bit this is thecamera operators favorite corn breadwait no now it’s with the calls on thetop but I don’t have a camping Dutchoven I’ve got like an oven one so how doyou keep the calls from falling off Imeasure the diameter hereand then I take this and I roll itand we and you pinch it here mm-hmmpinching shaping and now you have a ringyou have a Corral Fiat fold and now weput 16 calls on the top these are kindof past their prime so I’m going to addmore all right so that is 17 I’m goingto just put a couple more because I Ithink we kind of let the calls in thechimney and the chimney thing a littletoo longall right about 35 minuteshey minute I’m guessing garden forks allabout guessing do we you know we don’tneed to put like anything on top of thecharcoal to keep it hot hotter freeformHenry we’ve got 35 minutes we havecornbread you do like cornbreadeverybody doesthe big oh that didn’t work the bigfactor in how many calls is the diameterwill I melt my tape measure you thinkthe diameter of your Dutch oven and Ididn’t realize it but most the calls goon the top my cousin Sharon taught methat thank you sure so we’re gonna letthis puppy bake we’re baking outsidewhich is I love this thing I just I lovethis idea putting my head here it isquite warm I’m a little worried aboutthe coals I think I kind of I just theyburnt up in the chimney this chimneystarter thing but um I mean gardenall about hey let’s try this and seewhat happensand so in about 25 minutes we’re gonnasee what happens I’m really likecornbread so this’ll be good anyway it’stime it the yard smells like cornbread Iwas I was mulching leaves garden Forksnot just a cooking channel by the wayit’s a it’s a DIY maker how it’s just meme on the weekend with the cameraoperator divot inthere when you put the corn and all thatthe oil and all that in there but um seeit’s kind of separated from the edgesthere yeah that is a sure sign that it’sdone if I had a cake tester we couldtest it but um you have a knife oh yeahI just got this out of the tentI’m betting that’s done I love this thisis this is kind of like the happyaccident that’s my life basically thecalls that I kind of dumped along thatare still hot I can still feel the coalshere but so you can still burn yourfingers yeah but this is cooler the yardsmells like cornbreadwhoo I’m gonna I’m gonna taste
