How to Reduce the Fat Level of a Pie.
Reducing the fat level of a pie risks reducing the tasty enjoyment of the pie. Using one of the simple methods outlined here will help to replicate the tastiness without bringing quite so much fat into your diet.

Ingredients
Phyllo Pastry.
Phyllo pastry (also known as filo pastry).
Usual pie ingredients.
Milk (dairy or soy).

Low Fat Pastry Dough.
Will fit a 22.5 to 25cm/9- to 10-inch pie plate/dish.
1-1/2 cups wholewheat flour.
1 tablespoon soy flour.
Pinch of salt.
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder.
1 tablespoon olive oil (or other vegetable oil).
Low fat milk or water to mix.

Method 1 Phyllo Pastry.
1. Replace your usual pastry with phyllo pastry. This pastry is very low in fat compared to other pastry types.
2. Use approximately 8 to 10 sheets of phyllo for the pie topping. Instead of brushing each layer with oil, only brush with milk (dairy or soy). If wished, you can brush the top layer with olive oil to assist browning and crunchiness.
3. Place the brushed layers over the top of your pie. The beauty of this solution is that it still works for either a savoury or a sweet pie.
4. Cook according to your recipe’s instructions. Keep an eye on the pastry, however, to make sure that it is not browning too quickly. Reduce the oven temperature slightly if this happens.
