that so we’re gonnajust get rid of this and we’re gonna usewhat we use these days grandma shouldhave had one of these in the kitchen soI’m gonna I have half a cup of water inhere that’s gonna help me work thepotatoes around the blender and make areally nice paste and also it will makesure the potatoes don’t turn brown whichwe want so I have 1/2 a cup of waterit’s a recipe calls for 1 onion mine isa little small so I’ve gotten pieces alittle bit more pieces of one I’m justgonna cut the ends off and just kind ofrough chopping them and good thing aboutworking with a blender you don’t have toworry about being even on your piecesizesso I’m gonna put the onion in firstbecause the onion also makes thepotatoes not turn dark so onions go inthe water and now I’m gonna do some saltI’m posting so potatopancakes very traditional horse recipewe all all kids know it from very earlyage my family will always eat it withsugar and sour cream what I hear peopledoing applesauce which sounds good to meand also savory version would be withlike pork stew or beef stew also greatoption so what’s your earsand here’s our blended potatoes we don’thave to do much else to it now we havehalf a cup of flour we’re gonna addcouple eggsyou can smell the aroma of the onion andthe potatoes which kind of is nice tosmell right away and kind of reminds mealready of pancakes I’m just gonna mixthese just a little bit to break theyolk and just pop this in heremix the flour in and our batter ispretty much done it’s pretty thick andthe flour and egg will help it will helpus keep the pancakes together you cansee how the our batter is not dark atall which if we were hand blending orhand grading by now it would batter hereit’s nice and light it’ll fry up tobecome these really nice and light brownpotato pancakes and I know I know yourtraditional puppets out there will saythat you’re supposed to grate and losethe knuckles on a long I want it so I’mgonna do it this way and you can try itand I promise this is gonna be your newway so I’m heating some oil here and Ihave am using vegetable oilI prefer grape seed because I like howit it’s heating for me so I’m just gonnaput a little bit in the pan I don’t wantthem floating in the oil I just wantthem to have a little bit of grease tokind of sit in but they’re notdeep-fried they are just lightly brownedso I have this going and I am going touse a measuring cup to measure out mypancakes just because I like for them toto be uniform in size so for this pan Ithink I’mwith about quarter cup and try using thepan that is a little bit wider with alittle bit more frying space so you haveto crowd them I’m probably gonna putaround four in here so I boom to flipand don’t have to break them up I’m justgonna give this a couple more minutesand we’re gonna get a flat plate so Ican remove so make sure that the oilheats up nicely you don’t want to putthe batter in there and it just kind ofsits there and silk soaks up oil sowe’re gonna wait and give it give it arest a little bit till the oil is niceand runny and then we know it’s gettingthere if you’re cooking with gas thisprocess will definitely be faster sojust watch out for the for the burningpoint on this but if you can see I onlyhave a little bit of oil in here I’m theedge here I’m gonna just kind of swirlit around my pan so it’s evenly coatedgo ahead and try itI’m just gonna do get this pan can holdthree so that’s what I’m gonna go withflatten them out a little bit easy peasyturn the heat down just tad so they cancook through but not burn on the edgesburnt edges are okay they’re goodthey’re tasty but we don’t want themblack before the the center is cooked so[Music]and see how there’s just enough oil inhere we don’t want them swimming we justwant them to have a little bit of oilgood nonstick pan I wouldn’t do these incast iron cast iron is not a friend ofpotato pancakes so we made we made theseat home a lot they as I said before thisis a dish that kids like a lot kind oflike the American pancakes on Sundaymorning only this is not Sunday morningdinner dish it’s mostly dinner we atethem on Fridays a lot Fridaystraditionally in Poland we would servedishes that were meatless so these wouldbe served with like I said we we likedsour cream and sugar which is still myfavorite way of serving and eating themmy family my husband me either prefersthem with stew my daughter who was ateenager now likes to eat them withsugar still and sour cream sorts I likethat so if you want to take a look athere take a break from the Apple andtake a look see how our edges are kindof brown that’s probably as dark as wewant it and the center on this side isstill a little bit of conceits littleraw and the edges are becoming cooked sothis is a good point to get a goodflipper see if I can do this withoutbreakinghow nice and golden-brown they’re notdark and you smell the potatoes alreadyin here it smells so good can’t wait toeat these got it let these cook on thesite for a couple more minutes thatlittle thing we went eat these on Fridaya lot but also it’s probably one of thedishes that I learned how to make firstand you watch it enough being done inyour kitchen it just kind of becomesyour second nature because nothing iswritten down we all know that grandmathey write it down hey grandma how do Iknow these are done well you know youlook and you’ll know so look I more minuteswell these are browning finishing I’mgonna go get my sour cream so I cantaste these so these have been on herefor probably about five minutes thenflip them again just to make sure thatcooked on both sides see how gorgeousthey look and you can eat them right offthe pan just kidding I don’t want toplate first but you can eat them rightaway or you can heat your oven to warmput them on the cookie rack stack yourpancakes and as you’re going and cookingyou just add them to your oven and whenyou’re done you can serve them alltogether or if you’re like me can’t waityou’re gonna eat some right nowthreeGeorge’s gonna turn this off so my oilis not burning and I have sour creamhere and sugar did you hear me sugarsorry sugar so what I do is get a nicethick sour cream straight out of thefridge so it’s still cold have yourlight the size of your sweet tooth Iguess so now you can be civilized eitherwith a fork or you can just smear thisaround and just grab onwell they’re not very grabby today oryou can just fold it and cut a piece sothey’re very smooth they’re cookedon the inside dude edges are crispy thesour cream just cools it a little bitand the sugar just gives it
