hello friends and welcome to today’svideo in this episode of vlogmas my nameis Christine and welcome back to mychannel if you have not been here beforeI hope you would consider subscribinghit the notification belt in today’svideo I would like to explain to you whyI like to bribe my children they’re allhome Christmas break is here school isout for the next two weeks and mostimportantly we have company coming inthe next three hours so it’s time to putthe kids to work because it is indeedtheir responsibility to pick up theirrooms to collect their items and vacatetheir rooms for the company also to pickup the toys the blanket anything else Ican think of that I don’t want to do Ihave a bag of Twizzlers that is callingtheir names so as each chore iscompleted I will be handing out twizzlerbite step number one Ryando I have the sheets in the washingmachine what are you doing your roomthose are excellent ok is your roomready for company no can you get yourroom ready for company and then we’llmove on is your bed made like askedhow’s it going almost done with your bedyeah ok excellent I’m gonna take thiswrapping paper into my room that’s fordoing your bit thank you can readCongrats we gave speedy a bath ok- a little too close sweetie can youtell how fluffy he is ok I took him theshower curtain to wash it it’s prettydirtywe got the dirty clothes and towels outof here Hailey’s about to take out thetrash and recycling which is there heyhurry done with the blankets yeah one ofour neighbor gifts this year was thislittle thing of cookie dough so I figureI mean we might as well make them rightright bTW oh well yes yes so we’remaking some cookiesI have banana bread in the ovenbreakfast tomorrowalready done these cookies got kind offlat I better eat him you know becausethey don’t look that good we don’t wantto embarrass ourselves so we’ll justtake care of that right nowoh don’t even taste good yeah I cannotlet other people eat these we are inoperation where are the kids out inoperation keep the kids occupied I don’tknow if you guys do this but when wehave company coming there’s a lot ofkids around you know for me going fromfour to seven is is a big jump I meanthat’s almost a double for me my maingoal is to keep them busy and wear themout so today on Saturday the goal was wewere gonna be making sugar cookies fromscratch we’re making the dough fromscratch we were gonna roll them out makethe shapes cook them make the frostingand then decorate the cookies so I knewit was gonna take most of the day to getthrough all of these things and what kiddoesn’t like to help in the kitchenright so you see two of my nephews andone of my nieces here they’re verysimilar to my kids ages the oldest is 12just like Andrew the next one down is 10he’s actually only one month older thanTyler so they’re both 10 and then thelittle girl is about 6 or 7 months olderthan Ryan my Ryan is 7 so she’s 8 untilI have a lot of kids that are kind ofthe same age here sorry about theblurring and the camera keeps trying tofocus I think on that light in thewindow behind me I found these recipesfrom Mel’s kitchen cafe so I’ll leavethe links for both the cookie and thefrosting down in the description box foryou so you can go try them out and I’llkind of tell you what I thought thecookies themselves I was prettyimpressed with I’m not an expert insugar cookies by any means I prefer adrop cookie because I just kind ofdisliked the rolling out process ittakes a really long time and makes a bigmess but these were easy to put togetherthey were easy to roll out after I hadchilled them I chilled him for an hourso during that hour I believe we atelunch and then after they had chilledfor an hour they were really really easyto roll out the kids had a great timewith that Dave’s not around cuz he hadgone fad biking with some friends of histhey went to a local state park and fatbiked in the snow I don’t know if youguys know what that isI’m gonna put a picture over the top ofthis so you can see what fat bikinglooks like but he had a great time andLauren was taking care of some otherbusiness my sister and so I had allseven kids and we just cooked like blechall day long the kitchen turnedinto a big mess that’s kind of how itgoes when you cook all day but it wasreally fun the kids really got into itthey all wanted to have a turn helpingout and with this many kids I was liketrying to keep in my head okay who’sdone what who’s done what what do Istill need to do who hasn’t had a turnscooping the flour it yet right I reallyloved my Bosch for this it wouldprobably also fit in a KitchenAid butthe fact that I could just stick it inthere and let it spin forever and everand not have to hold a hand mixer wasexcellent the cookie recipe called foralmond extract and lemon zest and Ididn’t have any lemon zest but I likedthe lemon flavor so I decided to switchout the almond extract for lemon extractwhich I did have so the cookies had likea little bit of a lemon background whichwas really nicethe rolling out was so much fun with thekids I basically just rolled it out Idid have to add a little bit of extraflour but it turned out really perfectlyand all the kids just kind of grabbedtheir favorite little shapes and theywent to town when it came to making theshapes and putting them on the cookiesheet it was like all hands on deckdon’t worry the kids wash their hands alot during this process probably likethree times for each kid three or fourtimes they were washing their hands overand over and over and they all just likeran in there and like did their shapesand then the tricky part wastransferring them right from the doughto the cookie sheet without manglingtheir shape so that was really fun towatch them figure out the process weended up cooking I believe eight cookiesheets worth of cookies so we had asignificant amount of sugar cookies andI did not even double this recipe thiswas just the original recipe I will sayif I do this againprobably will do again is that I willroll the cookies thinnerno not thinner thicker I’ll roll rollthem thicker then I did here I think Iwent a little on the thin side and Iwould prefer them to be a touch softerlike I said it’s kind of my first orsecond go-around when it comes to sugarcookies so I was kind of learning as Iwent and these cookies are reallyawesome because you cook them at areally high heat for not very long it’slike 400 degrees for seven minutes soit’s pretty quick work you know runningthehe’s through the oven and we’ve decidedto whip up a vanilla buttercreamfrosting and I’m using my hand mixerhere cuz the Boche is really good forlarge quantities and this was not alarge quantity so we just went with alittle hand mixer it’s a KitchenAid Ibelieve actually I don’t know it mightbe a no sir I’ll try and look and if Ifind one that’s similar I’ll link itdown below for you I had to take overfor Andrew because his arm was getting alittle tired holding it and though Ithink the key to this buttercream isthat you mix it for so long it’s areally long process so while I wasmixing those the kids found my ediblecookie like markers and decided just todraw right on the cookie withoutfrosting which I thought was they hadthe best time with that it was reallyfun I think I picked those up atMichaels a couple years ago as you cansee the frosting is really really thickand you add quite a bit of flour andthen you finish it off with some heavywhipping creamokay the vanilla buttercream is donethat was an arm workout I didn’t Ididn’t mix it in the Boche because it’sactually not enough batter like you weretripling it that would be great what areyour thoughts on the taste of the cookieand the frosting frosting right mm-hmmit doesn’t weigh you down like a normaldegree right the lemons I like the lemonhint in the cookiethey’re super buttery the cookies justsimmer down in the frosting this isreally goodI think I’m no pro at sugar cookies orbuttercream but I think they turned outpretty goodyeah it’s a little heavy on thesprinkles what is it with me thesesprinkles looks pretty ugly what’s agood not for me hey what dude do youknow much Reds melonshey oh my oh my how’d you get some onyour face don’t come out very good veryhow we stuck this[Music]
