Today I share my decades-old recipe for one of mine and my family’s favorite cookie flavors– oatmeal chocolate chip! hi you guys and welcome back to mykitchen the creme kitchen today I amgoing to be making the world’s bestchocolate chip oatmeal cookies and I’mgonna do itthe original way and then I’m gonna jazzthem up so you’ll have a coupledifferent ways to do it just for fun solet’s start with creaming some sugarstogether with shortening in this recipeI do not use butter this is gonna bereally easy for you to remember it’s acup of shortening a cup of brown sugar Ilove dark brown sugar it’s the onlybrown sugar I use and a cup of whitesugar thank you thank Alex and IrmaQueens got a chicken looks like achicken I’ve been making this cookierecipe for over 20 years if they’ll givean idea how much I like itand you want the brown sugar to bepacked any more up your measuring cupnext we add our 1 cup of shortening nowthat we have our sugars and ourshortening we’re just going to let theKitchenAid mixer do its magic you wantto cream it until it’s nice and fluffynow that we’ve got our mixture creamyand fluffy we’re gonna add two eggs andremember anytime that you’re baking youwant to make sure your eggs are roomtemperature and while this mixer isgoing you want to add one teaspoon ofvanilla I’m gonna get this nice andcombined scrape down the side here andscrape a little bit of that off thebeater because I want everythingincorporated we’re just now we’re gonnaadd our dry ingredients and I have madethis recipe so simple for you that we’renot gonna sip any of it it’s gonna cometogether beautifully one and a half cupsof all-purpose flour and right on top ofthe flour I’m going to put a teaspoon ofkosher salt and a teaspoon of bakingsoda we’re gonna give this a couplestirs around the bowlI start slowly so we don’t have flourit’s loading everywhere okay once theflour is just combined we’re gonnafinally add our oats now you can usewhatever kind you want but I love theold-fashioned it’s got such a great chewand it just seems so rustic and yummythree cups after each one I’m just gonnagive it a couple stirs when I makecookies like this I justify it in mymind that with the oatmeal it actuallyis a healthy cookie just like to give ita couple turns make sure everything iscompletely incorporated at this pointyou guys you could leave this alone andhave yourself just some nice oatmealcookie what we’re gonna do what myfamily loves is semi-sweet chocolatechipsat this point you don’t even have tobake it just eat it out of it okay we’redone I mean I’m in heaven okay I finallygot my oven turned on I have it on 350degrees so let’s get these on a cookiesheet so we can make them there’s acouple ways you can jazz these up evenmore if you want I’ll show you I justget my handy Oh yep I just get my handydandy cookie dough scooper like this youwant to make sure there’s enough spacein between each cookie so that it canspread a little bit on the pan you don’tever want them to touch so here’s acouple things you can do sometimes Ijust gently give it a tiny tiny littlepress okay otherwise you can and thengive it a tiny press I’m sorry have youseen anything cuter than that before Idon’t think you’d have who doesn’t lovesprinkles other thing you can doValentine’s Day is right around thecorner right I would get some chocolatecandies candy coated chocolate candiesadorable yeah and I’m gonna get these inthe oven now and when they come out I’mgonna show you what I’m gonna do withthe other two let’s see how our cookiesare doing okay those were in about 10minutes depending on your size anywherefrom 10 to 12 minutes is perfect let meshow you what I’m gonna do with theother two cookies we have rolos and wehave chocolate disksonce out of the oven what are we gonnado why not add more chocolate right whatwe’re going to do now is just wait acouple minutes for the cookies on thecookie sheet before we take them off andput them on a cooling rack to cool myhouse smells amazing from these cookiestotal I got about 34 just to give you anidea you can make them bigger but Iwould highly suggest not making them anysmaller they’re that goodso that being said I think Ava should dothe honors of trying one of thesecookies herself pick Bay bread insidethe glourious really gooey inside wethink another winner okay you guysanother winner she said so thank you forwatching again like subscribe be lookingout for some blogs coming up in thefuture on our website as well becausethey may hold some very exciting thingsyou guys thanks for watching and untilnext time eat your oats they’re good foryou
