Easter just days away and if everyone’sbeen feeling a bit frazzled at home itcould be the perfect time to unwind andspend some quality time together in thekitchenJana hay joins us now we were one of herabsolute fave Easter treats morning toyou you are making spiced brown sugarcookies and you can use products youalready have having the cupboard oh lookat this do you love that it’s threedifferent sizes of egg cookies beautifulwhat are these ingredients what do weneed it’s just a it’s two differenttypes of sugar caster sugar and brownsugar a little bit of flour you can putspice and if you want I’ve put incinnamon and nutmeg there’s an egg andegg yolk butter and you’re on your wayso you really simple and then I’ve gotsome really cute decorating ideas Ithought I’d show you today so I’ve madea little royal icing out of pure icingsugar and egg white and lemon juice andI’m going to show you the really reallycheats way and that I think you’re goingto be into this so you just make somecolors out of runny royal icing and thenI’ve got a piping bag and slightlythicker royal icing if you want to dosome little decorations okay so all youneed to do let’s show us this yes we’reputting the mixtures and all theingredients on the screen and we’ll putthem on our website so you go to it andshow us how okay yes yeah yeah therecipe will be on the websiteso once you’ve baked you cookies andthey’re nice and cool instead of havingto pipe all of them we do the dipping soyou just hold it and swirl it in theroyal icing and this is great becauseyou don’t have to be an ace with apiping bag to do this you just smudge itaround because you’re gonna be all overthis for the Grammys yes I was thinkingthat easy even barrettesand then if you haven’t got to the edgesyou just smooth it out and then run yourfinger around the edge and wait for thatto dry right so how long does that taketo dry the ice is your I can hear Britsare only about 20 minutes that’s whyI’ve got spoons and all these napbecause they start to dry so I’veactually been having them on the hop ofkind of like mixing them around to makethem a bit runny again a little bit oflemon juice lemon juice okay okay alittle bit lemon juice so you just runyour finger around the edge I’ve justgot a wet cloth and so you can get theperfect edge on them piping bag to makeit go like high okay up mm-hmm so I’vegot some dry ones here and then thisroyal icing is just a little bit thickerso I can make the little swirls so youcan be as adventurous as you like or youcan just do little more the pressure ofgood recoveryso we making it look like it’s rootsthanks cushy decorated Easter eggs sorryoh that’s ugly no little dots and spotsand polka dots and we’ve got the littleones I’ve packed them into an egg cartonso you can just package them insomething that you already have at homeyou
