Bake Cookies With Me (a chat)

OK, TEAM! Today’s video is a little chit chat about my education, work experience, and my current career- all while making my coworkers cookies! I apologize for the poor lighting, my kitchen has only one small window that doesn’t face the sun.

On my channel I will most likely cover lots of different content that fits into our football lifestyle. (Or everyday normal life.) If there is anything you would like to see, let me know in the comments below!

what’s up YouTube my name is Natalie
welcome to my channel or welcome back to
my channel if you’re new here so am i
but have you read in my channel
description I live that football life
24/7 7 days a week 365 days a year
but today we’re gonna be doing something
a little bit different we’re gonna be
talking about my career my education
past experiences and basically where I
do 40 plus hours a week all along baking
cookies for my co-workers we’re gonna be
making a rainbow sprinkle pudding sugar
cookies I don’t know if you’ve ever made
cookies with pudding before but they’re
bomb bombs so let’s get started alright
I’m gonna go ahead and start this off by
saying I am making a double batch of
these cookies I have a lot of co-workers
but if you would like to make these
cookies yourself I will link the
description below
I really just found this recipe on
Pinterest one day and they looked super
cute so I decided to make them for
myself so I’m gonna start with 2 cups of
just regular sugar granulated and then 1
and 1/2 cups of butter softened I to be
honest I put this in the microwave it’s
not completely melted but it’s pretty
close now the recipe calls for two
minutes of like an electric mixer but I
don’t own one so I’m gonna do this by
hand
so yeah I’m just gonna go ahead and get
started by telling you about my
education I went to Apple University
which is a private Catholic University
in Kansas City Missouri I signed to
Avila when I was a senior in high school
I cheered while I was there all four
years if you’re familiar with the cheer
world we competed UCA at first we
started at the Division two levels of d2
and
we compete in the open all girl so that
was a lot of fun and I can make a
separate video on that if you want to
hear more but I’m gonna move right along
I got my Bachelors of Science
radiological sciences which is basically
a really fancy degree for x-ray tech so
I basically did four years and I did
didactic which is like in classroom
classes and then I did about two and a
half years of clinical work at a
hospital by the name of North Kansas
City Hospital which is like the hospital
I grew up going to if I ever needed to
go alright so next we’re going to add
two eggs and two egg yolks as well as
two teaspoons of baking soda and two
teaspoons of vanilla
I’m not really sure why there’s banila
in this because I mean we’re putting
vanilla pudding into it but oh well I
don’t know if I pointed this out yet but
I’m wearing my favorite rainbow tie-dye
t-shirt I literally wear this t-shirt
all the time so you’re gonna mix that
we’re mixing so if you’ve seen my first
video which is like an introduction of
like Joann dies relationship and how we
found each other and found our way to
the University of Alabama
I mentioned that I meet Jo about four
months before I graduate college and I I
meant to graduate college and move to
Seattle and like find what my real
passion was because x-ray was really
just like a plan see like being a
medical field like something to fall
back on I won’t say that I didn’t learn
a lot and that like it wasn’t super
helpful you’d actually be surprised how
many people don’t know basic health care
things or like anything about their
Anatomy or or like why their body works
and the way it does but anyways after
after you mix that you’re gonna put in
two packages instant vanilla pudding so
go ahead and just mixed the pudding in
there it smells so sweet
anyways so I met Jo right before I
graduated and also right before I
graduated I was offered a job at the
hospital I was doing clinicals at so I
ended up working there while me and Jo
or Joe and I were
and a long-distance relationship which
is like four and a half years so I
worked there as a PRN tech and I
basically got full-time hours while I
was also coaching cheerleading and going
to school which at first was for like
physics and then like it turned into all
I want to be a physician’s assistant for
like dermatology and then I took
chemistry and I was like whoa like I
love chemistry and like working for like
a beer company like Boulevard Brewing
Company would be super cool but here I
am I forgot to add a teaspoon of salt
it’s just basic regular salt I think
that I think actually calls for cobalt
I’m not really sure what that means so
y’all get the regular more ins okay so
again like in my introduction video I
ended up moving to Iowa last year I
moved to Ames Iowa and I searched for a
lot of jobs and they really I just
really find the perfect one I ended up
finding one that was really good match
for me it was in like an orthopedic
surgeon clinic so I still did x-ray but
I got to do a lot a lot of like other
really cool stuff like I would triage
patients and get their vitals and
histories and all that stuff computers
fluff but I also got to do like DME and
like I got to cast people so that was
super cool and I worked with a lot of
different kinds of doctors but mainly I
worked with a trauma surgeon and a
podiatrist and the podiatrist is like
super cool he’s definitely not watching
this video but like dr. trout if you are
you the best and if any of you guys need
a podiatrist
I was actually really heartbroken to
like lead there because I was only there
for 8 months and it was just really cool
and it was a lot of work to learn
something new that I hadn’t been doing
and to like leave I felt kind of guilty
because like I had moved to Iowa feeling
as if for thinking as if we wouldn’t be
moving for a while he is yet the special
coordinator job but like this industry
is just so you never know you like
honestly never know okay so now I’m
gonna put in four cups of flour
gradually I honestly don’t know if my
bowl is big enough oh by the way this is
what it looks like right now it’s like
yellow I don’t know if my bowl is big
enough for this so I’m gonna have to go
like a little at a time right so I moved
to Tuscaloosa Alabama at the end of
March is basically like the first day of
April and I had already had like a phone
interview with my boss now but I had to
go in for like a kind of like face to
face I would even say interview because
she didn’t really like interview me she
like showed me around the department and
my Toni would I’d be doing so I went in
on the UH on April 1st and like I
literally got into Tuscaloosa the night
before at like 10:30 p.m. and I like had
to wake up and take a shower I’m just
like obviously I smelled because I had
been in the car for 12 hours the day
before so I needed to get up and like
take a shower and like do my hair well
guess what April Fool’s jokes on me be
Jo hadn’t moved into the house our stuff
wasn’t there yet but he had moved in and
he had mmm and he hadn’t transferred the
bills into his name yet so our water was
off because it was the first of the
month so
I went to my interview smelling this is
awesome
so obviously I got the job I didn’t was
here in Alabama alone for an entire
month I had no money like I couldn’t
spend any money because I wasn’t working
for a month and I wasn’t prepared for
that I had already taken a pretty big
pay cut going from Kansas City Missouri
to Iowa Des Moines Iowa area and then
now coming here I took a pay cut but so
my new job is actually in cardiology I
still do x-ray I run like an x-ray table
during procedures like various
procedures but basically I am a scrub
tech so I’m sterile I wear like the
whole gown cereal gloves hat mask all of
that and I basically help the doctor in
his procedure and it’s really cool we do
a lot of different things we do a lot of
hard casts if you don’t know if that is
we basically use a technique that uses a
needle to introduce either in the groin
or the wrist and we use these catheters
which are basically like straws or tubes
to like go into the body and we squirt
dye like a radio graphic contrast dye
into the coronary arteries and we check
them out make sure there’s no lesions or
we fix heart attacks by like ballooning
set arteries that are around the heart
with a balloon and a stent I’m trying to
describe this like every day like every
day bro you know so if you’re not
following I’m sorry I’m like trying to
you need this it’s so it’s so thick and
I have like a rubber spatula because
again I don’t have an electric mixer
because I don’t want to
besides Leichhardt cast we also do a
bunch of like devices like a pacemaker
if you know what that is it goes in the
chest or defibrillators we also do like
legs like look at the veins and arteries
in the legs really cool it’s really cool
and I I really like it I’m glad that I
have the opportunity I’m super grateful
for it because it is really rewarding
because you see the results right away
and you’re helping somebody right away
so that’s really really cool
so next we’re going to add sprinkles and
I have three different kinds
I’ve got like a rainbow regular I’ve got
some dots and then none I’m not even
done honestly I’m not even gonna try to
pronounce that about a cup but probably
not
I love rainbow sprinkles I just love
rainbows what am I in fossa is my old
cheer coach boss
her favorite slogan is life is too short
for boring colors and she’s right but
she’s honestly ready so we’re gonna stir
this all right this is what it looks
like
I could probably add more sprinkles but
I think what I’m gonna do is I’m going
to add a couple sprinkles on the top of
a cookie so that when it bakes they look
super pretty
so you’re going to bake these cookies at
350 for about 10 minutes and if you want
them to just be at the point where
they’re like set up and then you want to
pull them out and let them cool on their
baking sheet these good eaters
now the recipe also says to like scoop
them with a cookie scoop which guess
what I also don’t have but the pictures
look really pretty I kind of do want one
maybe I’ll go to Hobby Lobby and my
violin depends on how expensive they are
I don’t know so I’m just gonna scoop
them with a tablespoon and plop them
onto the cookie sheet so yeah I don’t
think I explained my job very well I
probably didn’t because like cooking and
talking to a camera same time is really
really hard so yeah I’m sorry about that
all right so I have spoon
bunch of cookies out on every possible
cookie sheet that I own and they’ll take
turns in the oven at 350 for about ten
minutes each
I guess I should just finish up what
saying like my new job is super cool I
do have to get used to working five days
a week eight hours a day that’s a new
concept for me I’m used to working like
four tins or working 12s or kind of like
picking my schedule I’m also on call
which I’ve been on call before when I
worked in the hospital but it was just
like for x-ray and now what I might call
is a lot more serious so being on call
means I’m basically on standby and I’m
always the last one to leave every day
if I’m on call that means I have to stay
until the last case is done but being on
call also means that like let’s say it
could be any time of day or night
whenever if somebody has a heart attack
and that could be somebody in the test
closed area or like they have to be life
flighted from someplace far away
basically if someone’s having a heart
attack we get a cardiac alert and we
have 30 minutes to get to the hospital I
usually get there and clocked in within
10 minutes I like to get there as fast
as I can because I like to throw out my
table and get everything set up before
the patient and the doctor come so that
when the patient does come I can prep
them get them clean and sterile and kind
of drape them off and then the doctor
can come in and we can fix them and help
them and save their lives and again like
that’s one of the coolest feelings ever
is when like you get to save somebody’s
life so I’m super grateful for this
experience
that’s the first batch of cookies
alright so that’s it really for today’s
video I’m sorry if it bored you if it
