Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles Recipe | Taste of Retirement

Now you all have probably heard of and had chicken and waffles at some point in your lives, but we’re taking it up a notch with our Nashville hot fried chicken and waffles! For those of you who haven’t had Nashville hot chicken or Nashville hot fried chicken, we can’t stress this enough, TRY IT – It will change your life!

The best thing about this recipe besides how it tastes, is how simple it is. A Nashville hot fried chicken recipe really isn’t that different than any old fried chicken recipe, but the secret in how to make Nashville hot chicken is in the Nashville hot sauce. Really, it’s the lack there of hot sauce because for Nashville hot chicken, after you get done frying the chicken, you take some of the oil it was fried in and mix with spices to get your sauce.

Fried chicken recipe:
1 Cup Buttermilk
1/2 Cup Pickle brine
Egg
Louisiana Style Hot sauce
All purpose flour
Chicken tenderloins
Salt & Pepper
Canola Oil or any high smoke point oil

Nashville hot sauce recipe:
Oil from fried chicken
Brown sugar
Smoked Paprika
Cayenne Pepper
Salt
Black Pepper

Buttermilk waffles recipe:
1¾ cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1¾ cups buttermilk
½ cup unsalted butter
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
