hi guys i am vivir today we are heating
the oven we’re making something very
special and something that I love very
much today I’m going to show you how I
make German pancake
what we need is eggs milk flour a little
vanilla pinch of salt and some butter
for the pan there is some controversy
about the German pancake and so-called
Dutch baby they’re both the same German
pancake its regional German recipe it
came to the United States an owner of
restaurant in Seattle used to make it
and his daughter couldn’t pronounce the
word Deutsch which means German instead
of Deutsch she would call it Dutch and
this is how the German pancake became
Dutch baby as far as I’m aware the owner
of the restaurant actually claimed the
rights over the name Dutch baby
so German pancake and Dutch baby are the
same thing but this is regional German
recipe some people also say it’s
basically an yorkshire pudding which is
kind of yeah I guess because they use
the same butter and they look the same
the Yorkshire pudding is fluffy and
thick as the German pancake except the
Yorkshire pudding is served with gravy
it’s a savory dish or it’s served with
it’s served with beef and vegetables so
enough about that
the best thing to cook your German
pancake in is cast-iron I don’t have
cast-iron I’m using just a simple pan
it’s pretty good pan my husband removes
the handle for me when I need for German
pancakes and then puts it back the oven
is preheated to 425 degrees and I’m
gonna place this skillet inside the oven
and have it really really hot what we
have to do is basically combine all
these ingredients and give them a good
mix I’m gonna use my whisk if you have
blender place everything in the blender
and mix it there it’s gonna be great I’m
making again double dose in the
description box below I’m gonna place
the recipe for a normal dose if you like
you can double triple it as you wish
these are room-temperature eggs and I’m
gonna give them real real fast whisk in
the blender you can add everything at
the same time that’s good enough I’m
gonna add the milk vanilla pinch of salt
and I’ll start adding the flour which is
sifted and now we have to combine all
these and make a nice pancake batter and
the batter is ready basically in 1 2 3
I’m gonna set it aside now because we
need time to have our skillet really hot
I just took my pan out of the oven and
you can hear this is the butter melting
it has to be really hot and it is hot
it’s hot – my mins
very well that’s done and now I’m gonna
put my pancake butter
[Music]
and I’ll take it to the oven you have to
be very careful and I’ll see you when
it’s done
you
and there it is for some reason my
German pancake always ends up being
absolutely symmetrical I can do one
sometimes to just go and make this weird
shape it doesn’t happen it’s always
symmetrical it was like a sombrero and
of course it starts to deflate right
away so that’s the thing you have to be
ready to dig in
it has enough butter on the top so I’m
not gonna add extra even though I have
prepared the original German cake is
served with butter lemon juice and
sprinkle of powdered sugar there is no
sugar in the butter so you can add sugar
as much as you wish and this is what I’m
gonna do I’m gonna sprinkle some lemon
juice on the top just a little bit for
now and I have fresh fruits I’m gonna
add fresh fruits strawberries and
raspberries
it’s gonna make nice as bet here with
fruits
great breakfast great brunch okay
and now more lemon juice
and of course father sugar
I believe that’s enough for now and let
me see if I can slide it into my plates
it literally went above this much above
the pan
okay you ready just right use my means
to help it a little bit like that yes it
slides easily and here you have it guys
so beautiful absolutely delicious and I
can’t wait I’m gonna bite from right
here just tiny piece it’s still so hot
oh you know I don’t like turning the
oven in the summer but for dishes like
this it’s absolutely worth it I love it
if you try this recipe at home let me
know in the comments down below I would
love to hear what you think about it and
all the German pancake that baby
Yorkshire pudding all comments welcome
don’t forget to give me the thumbs up
and go subscribe to my channel and I’ll
see you next time bye
delicious gonna make it by again
you
