Making Cookies with Mr. Brady

Today was hard…lets make some cookies together.
What you’ll need:
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Cup Butter Flavored Shortening
1/3 Cup Milk
1/4 Tsp Vinegar
1 Tsp Salt
2 Tsp Baking Soda
2 Eggs
4 Cups Flour
1/2 Bag Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Bake at 375 for 10 minutes.

so I just got word that we’re continuingwith online learning for the rest of theschool year and I’m not excited aboutthat because band is one of those thingsthat was never meant to be done onlinebut we will figure it out and do itthrough the rest of school year I’m alsoreally bummed about not being able tohave our concerts and never perform themusic that we were preparing andespecially for our seniors that are verywell aware that they won’t get many ofthe end of their senior year activitiesthat they’ve been looking forward to fora long time and so I’m pretty bummed outabout that and I feel badly for ourstudents but we’re gonna do the bestthat we can to make it a good experienceI will do my best to find a way to get aperformance type experience virtuallyand that should be an exciting adventurefor all of us so at this point where weare feeling maybe a little bit of stressand anxiety because of what’s happeningand what’s going on I decided that Idon’t do well when I dwell on things andso I need to kind of move my mind on soI decided that I’m going to now talk toyou about something that I knowabsolutely nothing about cooking noactually I’m not doing anything aboutcooking we’re gonna go bake becausewhile I do like to be as fit as possibleand I try to eat healthy even though Icomplain about my poor eating choices tomy wife all the time occasionally I dolike to eat cookies and if my studentsknow this many of them and so I’m goingto show you how to make mr. Brady’sstress management chocolate chip cookiesokay so here I am in mythis is my stress management tool righthere I’m not much of a cook but I doknow how to cook the one thing that Ialways go to for stress management andthat’s cookies so any of you studentsout there know that I like cookies andthis is how I manage my stress so I’mgonna show you today how to make mr.Brady stress management cookieschocolate chip cookies so what you’regonna need to follow along here is flourbrown sugar regular baking soda saltI forgot two ingredients this isvegetable shortening you need the butterflavor kind that is the only way to makethese cookies don’t do with anything butbutter flavor milk chocolate chipsvinegar yes vinegarthis is where you gonna want to start isyou get 1/3 of 1/3 cup milk okay andthen you want to do this first so getthe 1/3 cup milk and then take yourvinegar and I think it’s a quarterteaspoon it’s like some miniscule amountof vinegar but I don’t measure anymorethey’re just kind of eyeball it you justdo just a little bit in there and letthat sit for five minutes so what that’sgonna do is that is going to create somesour milk okay so we’re just kind of setthat aside then you get your 1 cupmeasurement[Music]the order in which you do this partdoesn’t really matter but I like tostart with regular sugar one cup brownsugar okay so I’m like literally out ofbrown sugar and PS these little thingsare amazingbrown sugar okay so you take your 1 cupof brown sugar shortening shortening iseasy as done with a scraper spatula hereand you’ll do one cup of that one cup offatty buttery okay so once you’ve gotthat in there at this point you want tomake all right I almost forgot acritical elementfashion is important when you are bakingcookies so be sure you put on so nowafter we have those three things mix atthis point you can use your milk and ifyou look at it it’s kind of chunky youcan’t really see that but it’s gonna bea little bit chunky because you’ve justmade the milk sour so we put that in andthen I mix that so that’s mixed then yougo with the eggs you’ve got two eggs sodo it one at a time[Music]that’s not madokay so then we’ll add our second eggand do the same all right so once theeggs are all mixed up the next thingthat I like to do is the salt and thebaking soda salt one teaspoon salt andthen two teaspoons baking soda okay sonow once that’s done we can go on intoour you’re gonna add four cups of powerbut we do it one at a time so that itdoesn’t turn into a big puff ball offlour everywhere okay now for the lastcup I like to kind of do it like a 1/2cup at a timeso that it mixes in a little bit betterokay so once the Hat is all mixed upmake sure you get all of that amazingsugary goodness unless of course you’relike me and you like to like to be hereand that’s cool tooall right so now you can choose whateveryou want for your chocolate chipshowever if you want to make them mr.Brady’s stress-reducing chocolate chipcookiesyou need these bad boys you need thesemi-sweet all right because if you usethe milk chocolate I just feel like it’stoo too chocolatey or too sweet orsomething so I like to use theseso I’ll mix up my bowl make sure that Igot some this is kind of the consistencywe’re looking at here that’s what itought to look like when you’re donemaking the batter cuz I don’t like ittoo many chocolate chips in it and thenyou just stir[Music]all mixed up okay so let’s have a littlequick talk about the benefits of makingthe cookies now I don’t always make thecookies every time I want a cookiebecause I just freeze the cookie doughand I put it in the freezer for wheneverI want it but the benefits of making thedough when you’re super stressed outreally physical component plus I popsome chocolate chips while you’re doingit that makes sense right so if you’resuper stressed make cookies like makethem if you only a little bit stressedjust get the cookie dough out and makethe cookie dough maybe even eat just thecookie dough so now we’re gonna go on tohow you bake themso on the cookie sheet of your choicethis one I don’t need to spray ever allof that a cup of fat that I put in thismixer so you don’t really need to spraythis pan so then you just kind of startwith your cookie dough and roll it uplike that so then you have just like alittle ball and I usually fit about adozen cookiesdepends on how stressed out okay so nowover here the oven alright so you wantto pre-heat your oven to 375this says 385 because I know that ouroven is 10 degrees too cold so I kick itup to 385 all right and then your racksetup should look something like thatyour rack is in the middle and then setour timer I start off with 10 minutesand then I kind of check it from thereso let’s come back in 10 minutes andcheck it okay so the timer just went offturn that offcheck these out oh yeah those look good[Applause]all right yes they should just be alittle bit golden brown on top andthat’s it and that my friends is a goodchocolate-chip cookie okay so now allchocolate-chip cookies should be enjoyedwith the glasses so the appropriatetechnique for eating a mr. Bradystress-management cookie chocolate chipis to dunk the cookie in milk make sureit gets nice and saturated because youare soaking away all of your stressnow here’s a good cookiesotoday we’re bummed out and the news ofnot returning to school is kind of abummer kind of really a bummer so makeyourself some cookies enjoy your cookiesenjoy the process and tomorrowwe’ll figure it out we’ll figure out howto move forward and how to make the bestof the situation that we’ve beenhandling so go have fun making mr.Brady’s stress management chocolate chipcookies
