hi everyone and welcome to my channel
I’m amber ogia and today I’m gonna show
you guys how to make two different types
of cookies manteca DTOs and pol Voronezh
these are two types of Puerto Rican
style shortbread cookies what you need
for this recipe is one and a half cups
of flour I’m actually using one part
all-purpose flour and 1 part baking mix
just because the baking mix gives a
fluffier cookie but you can definitely
use just all-purpose flour I have half a
cup of granulated sugar 1/4 cup of
vegetable shortening 1/4 cup of salted
butter 1 egg yolk 1 teaspoon vanilla
extract 1 teaspoon of almond extract and
this is completely optional but I like
to add sprinkles on my cookies so here I
have some colorful sprinkles as well to
get started I’m going to add my
vegetable shortening and my butter into
a mixing bowl and I’m going to cream
that together until combined
as this is mixing I’m going to add my
granulated sugar and I’m going to raise
up the speed a little bit and make sure
that it combines and it’s nice and
creamy and fluffy then I’m going to add
my egg yolk and my vanilla and almond
extract and let that mix and I make sure
to scrape down the sides of the bowl so
that everything combines nicely and I
slowly add my flour a little bit at a
time and mixing as I keep adding once
you’ve added on the flour you’ll see
that it starts to come together and
starts forming these little dough balls
if you feel that your mixture is too dry
then you can thin it out using a little
bit of milk and you’ll know your mixture
is perfect when you grab it and you can
form a nice dough without it sticking or
being too dry so now that my cookie
dough’s come together what I’m going to
do is grab half of my dough and place it
onto a separate bowl and this is
completely optional I like to do this in
various different colors but today I’m
just going to color half of my dough a
nice teal color using
gel food colour and I just need the
dough together so that the color blends
all over so now I have my teal dough and
my regular colors dough for the first
cookies that I’m going to be making
which are Manta capitals and matically
toes is just basically a Puerto Rican
shortbread cookie what I’m going to do
is grab my cookie sheet and then here I
have the dough and I’m going to form
these into little circles and then
flatten them to be about two inch wide
discs and now I add the sprinkles on top
of the cookies and I bake these at 350
degrees for 10 to 12 minutes it depends
on your oven mine’s were perfect at
exactly 11 minutes now for the four
varnas which is basically also a
shortbread cookie but this is a powdered
shortbread cookie what I’m going to do
is grab my
teal cookie dough and I’m going to just
form some smaller balls you don’t have
to flatten these off I actually feel
that they come out way better if you
don’t flatten them out and I would
suggest that you don’t flatten them out
I feel that they bake a lot better when
you leave them in their round shape and
I’m just making these a little smaller
than the other cookies because in Puerto
Rico when I would eat the four corners
they would be like these small
bite-sized cookies and again I bake
these at 350 degrees and since these
were a little smaller these were
actually done in about nine minutes so I
would say bake these anywhere from eight
to twelve minutes depending on your oven
and also how big or small you me
now I let the piranhas cool for a few
minutes at room temperature and once
they were cooled all I did was just grab
a bowl of powdered sugar and I just dip
these in the powdered sugar you can also
just dust them with powdered sugar but I
I preferred dipping them in the powdered
sugar and there you have it – a super
delicious puerto rican inspired cookies
we have the monocot ethos which is just
the shortbread cookie with sprinkles and
the fourth one is which is a powdered
shortbread cookie I hope that you guys
