[Music]hi everybody i’m kimberly turner fromcooking with kimberly calm and today i’mgoing to show you how to bake chocolatechip pretzel football cookies it isSuper Bowl and we are tailgating and I’mmaking some cool chocolate chip cookiesin the shape of footballs with somepretzels that’s gonna give you a nicelittle crunchy and salty kick thateveryone’s looking for today alright solet’s get started I have a hand mixeryou could use a standing mixer if youlike and I’m going to cream my butter Ihave 3/4 of a cup of butter it softensroom temperature so let’s just creamthis butter just a little bit until it’slight and fluffy 1 cup of brown sugarwith the butter in color that’s one cupof brown sugar packs I have one largeroom temperature that’s going in andwe’re going to mix that together withthe butter and the brown sugar and oneteaspoon of vanilla extract let’s mixthat through beautiful next I’m going tocombine my dry ingredients in anothermixing bowl that’s one in a quarter cupsof sifted flour I’m using about aneighth of a teaspoon of saltonly because I’m adding pretzels thathave salt otherwise add a quarter of ateaspoon of salt I have 1 teaspoon ofbaking powder 3/4 of a cup of oatmeal3/4 of a cup of chocolate chips I’musing mini ones today but you could useany size you like and I’m gonna stirthat through we’re gonna hold off on thepretzels I have 1 cup of pretzels thathave been broken up into pieces and I’mgoing to fold those in at the very end Iwant to keep them the right shape and Idon’t want them getting wet so stirthese things through make sureeverything is evenly combined before youstart adding to the wet ingredients soall of my dry ingredients are mixedthrough I’m going to add maybe 1/3 at atime to my wet ingredients let’s justmix that throughand their third if you see that yourdough is a little bit dry you couldalways add one extra egg or a coupletablespoons of milk I’ve even added acouple tablespoons of Kahlua before thatworks oh reallythat’s mixed through adds remainingthird mix that throughyou don’t want a wet batter becausewe’re actually going to freeform thesecookies unless you have a cookie cutteror a mold that you can shape into thesafe shape of footballswe’re going to freeform it and wing itthey look good let’s preheat our oven to375 degrees all right so now I’ve gotone cup of the pretzel pieces and I’mgoing to stir those in by hand using awood hard wooden spoon oh that’s gonnabe nice crunchy in the middle of thosecookies what a fun addition so just stirthose in until it they’re evenlycombined okay so I’m just grabbing ascoop of the dough I’m making big onesbecause these are man cookies okay ifyou need to wet your hands a little bitto help shake them and not stick thenthat’s what you do I’m putting five persheet two on each side and one in themiddle these are gonna spread they’rebig cookies and I’m going to thisflatten them out to about I don’t know ahalf an inch or so and I’m just going touse my hands like this okay like alittle diamond sort of and form thatinto the shape of a football I’m makingthem a little bit more elongated becausethese are going to spread so hopefullythat helps big old man cookies you couldmake these smaller you could just makedrops if you wanted to but we are beingthemed today the pretzels are gonna beawesome in there pretty excited aboutthat also a really great way to use upsome pretzels that may be stale it’s agood way to use them alright so thereyou go some gorgeous pseudo footballsright now and they’re gonna go into a375-degree oven for roughly 12 minutes Iwant them to have spread I want them tohave browned on the outto a golden brown okay and I’ll show youwhat they look like then beautiful theyturned out lovely so you can see aroundthe edges they are golden brown theystayed in roughly the same shape theyspread a little bit but they still arethe shape of footballs so I’m going tolet these cool on the cookie sheets Ihave cookie sheets lined with bakingmats or parchment that’s also anessential thing that helps you a lotshow you these guys they’re ready to goin 12 minutes was perfect timing soleave them on the cookie sheets for acouple minutes and then remove them tocooling racks to cool completely I haveenough dough here I guess I’m gonna makeabout 11 but depending on how big youmake them I obviously I just eyeballedand free-formed so you’d probably get adozen out of these out of this recipeawesome once these guys are cool you canice them if you want to I’m just using awhite decorative gel like that andmaking little footballs that’s itwait till they’re cooled or you’ll be itreally upset so do two lines on eachside one line around one one end on thetop and then make I don’t know five lacemarks very easy super cute and thatextra little touch that really makesthem look like footballs there you goso here’s my plate of football cookiesthere you go they look so cute now wehave to try one deck gum it mom we wantto share one with me they’re kind ofbigger all right let’s grab a smallerone maybe let me show you what they looklike inside mmm cute right that was soeasy to do as well kids can help you dothat look at that they’re crispy crunchyon the outside and they kind of are alittle bit chewy on the inside all rightwhat do you think hmmme too I don’t even want to talk I wantto eat hmm those are perfect the oatmealreally helped them stand up into theshape that I wanted um they aren’t you agooey inside there’s still a tiny tinybit warm so my chocolate chips are alittle bit warm in there and the outsideis crunchy just like you want with thechocolate chip cookie this is the bestof all worlds the pretzels in there arecrazy good they’re crunchy still theyhave that little bit of salt on them andthey are just exciting mmm I like thatyou could add nuts to this if you wantedto coconut and that’s how you do itthat’s how you bake chocolate chippretzel football cookies you can do itto mix and match many different kinds ofchocolate bar you can break up in thereyou’re pretty awesome too follow me onTwitter cooking with Kim IVA the capitaleve like the fan page at facebook.comslash cooking with kimberly check out
