Chocolate Chip Cookies – Getting Cooked

Crisco Chocolate Chip Cookies – this recipe is taken directly from the Crisco Shortening Box
Ingredients:
• ¾ cup Crisco Golden All-Vegetable Shortening
• 1 ¼ cups lightly packed brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 2 tbsp milk
• 1 tbsp vanilla extract
• 1 ¾ cups All purpose Flour
• 1 tsp salt
• ¾ tsp baking soda
• 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375F.
Cream shortening and brown sugar in large bowl at medium speed of electric mixer for 2 minutes or until mixture is light and fluffy.
Add egg, milk and vanilla, beating 1 minute, or until thoroughly blended.
Combine flour, salt and baking soda in another bowl. Add to creamed mixture gradually, beating on low speed fro 1 minute until blended.
Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips (and nuts).
Drop dough by heaping spoonfuls, about 2 tbsp onto parchment lined or ungreased baking sheet leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Bake at 375F for 8 to 10 minute soft cookies, cookies will appear moist when baked, and not brown, do not overcook. Or 1 – 13 minutes for crunchy cookies, will appear lightly brown. Cool in pan for 2 minutes.

what to do during self isolation andQuarantine Christmas baking why not Iknow sounds ridiculous but if we packageit all up put it in the freezer and havewonderful intentions over the next 4 to12 weeks we will have had quarantine +15we’re going to make some chocolate chipcookies and I have used the same recipefor gosh I don’t know how long it isright on the box of the Crisco goldenall vegetable shortening so let’s get toit shall weit says right on this here box 3/4 cupsof the shortening for all you new cooksjust a little tip on most boxes ofbutter shortening lard whatever it mightbe you’re actually going to find themeasurements right on the box in thiscase we have measurements of 1/8 of acup 1/4 of a cup half and one full cupso what I do when I was first learningis I actually lay it right down sure youcould take out a measurement and fill itup but why bother when this is so easy Ilie it right down right on the dingdongshortening why not and I need 3/4 of acup I made a little line I’m gonna cuther right down like thatJohnny how easy is that right in thebowl she gets now it’s asking for oneand a quarter cup of lightly packedbrown sugarI bought this SuperDuper brown sugarcontainer on Amazon it’s got one ofthose Hill terracotta stones and thathelps keep my brown sugar quite moistnot hard you know not that kind of gonnaknock somebody’s teeth out with I’mgonna put my 1 cup right in therelightly pop I got a quarter of a cuphere so now I have my shortening inthere and I’ve got my brown sugar let’smix the two together that’s nicelycreamed add 1 egg 2 tablespoons of milkI’m using 3 percent 1 tablespoon ofvanilla that’s quickly mix thosetogetherwe’ll just scrape the sides to make surewe’re getting all that wonderful batterin there I think that’s good enoughlet’s set the wet ingredients aside andnow start working on the dry ingredientsso it’s asking me to put in one in threequarter cups of flour because I’m makingcookies like I said in a previous videobread pastries cookies I like to measureit out with a spoon this way I don’thave air pockets one cup three quartersso I have one in three quarter cupsflourI now need a teaspoon of salt which I’mjust gonna eyeball it and a quarterteaspoon of baking soda I like to mix mydry ingredients together with a fork Ijust think it does a better job Ibelieve my flour has been mixed welltogether my dry ingredients and now I’mjust going to slowly add it to my wetingredients little at a time that cametogether nicely at this time you can addin your one cup of chocolate chips justlike that and I’m just going to give ita couple of terms I don’t want tooverwork my flour also at this time ifyou wanted to put in some pecans or somewalnuts this would be the time you do itI’m not going to put any nuts in thisbecause I’m making them up for myneighbor next door Ian and she has a bitof a nut allergy I don’t know if Imentioned it or not but this is a verychewy cookie so let’s put at least a twoinch space between each cookies and I amdoing a generous one tablespoon ofcookie dough I’ve got my first batchlaid out I’m going to put them in a375-degree oven for eight to ten minuteseight minutes chewy 10 minutes crispy beright back I guarantee you it’s the bestchocolate chip cookies you have evereaten soft moist get the hell out ofhere because I want to eat some ciao fornow
