Bread halwa is my favorite, I have prepared this version of bread halwa without milk.This recipe is easy to make with minimum and available ingredients in your kitchen.
10 slices bread
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoon ghee
20 nos cashews (broken)
1 cup water and
oil as per needed
1 teaspoon cardamom powder
Trim the edges of the bread slices and cut into equal halves Set aside.Heat 1 tbsp of ghee and fry cashews until golden 6brown,remove the fried cashews and set aside.
Now fry the bread slices until it turns brown Set aside. It will.be crispy in nature . Now in the same pan add sugar.
Add water and let it boil and add cardamom powder which gives good flavour.
When it starts to bubble rigorously add the fried bread slices.Let it soak for few seconds.
Then mash it up with a laddle.
Keep cooking in medium flame and start adding ghee a tsp at a time.
when breads become smooth and soft starts to come together and ghee starts to ooze out the edges.It will take atleast 10 mins.
Now add fried cashews, give a quick stir and switch off.
You may not end up using all the ghee fully, so add a tsp at a time and stop adding when it starts to ooze out.
If you want you can add cardamom powder, I didn’t add.
