I’m back again with another recipe from my 1960’s recipe book! Despite its unusual name, this is a delicious pie with a rich molasses flavor and warm spices. A perfect treat as we near the fall season! I found it pairs particularly well with a side of whipped cream or even ice cream. Do give it a try!

Ingredients:
Shoofly Pie
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup boiling water
3/4 cup molasses
1 egg
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp ginger
1/8 tsp cloves
3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp shortening
Pie Crust
2 1/2 cup sifted flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup cold butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1 tbsp vinegar
1/4 cup cold water
