NO BAKE EGG PIE | VLOGG #10

No Oven Egg Pie

Pie Crust Ingredients:

2-3 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cold milk
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
1/8 tsp salt(optional)
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour

Custard Filling ingredients:

2 cups evaporated milk
3/4 cup condensed milk
3 large eggs
1 egg white
1 tsp vanilla extract

Procedure:

A.Pie Crust

1) Mix flour, sugar and salt
3) Using a fork cut butter into the flour mixture until it looks like small beads
4) Gradually add cold milk and mix well. (you will know if your dough is perfect when it sticks together in clumps)
5) empty your bowl right on the countertop and gather to form a ball
6) slightly flatten the dough
7) wrap dough in clingwrap and refrigerate for 1 hour
8) roll out the dough using a rolling pin
9)for the pie plate you can use aluminum tray. Size: 9 inhces round
10)use the pie plate to measure the size of the crust. It must have 3 inches allowance fom the edge.
11)Assist the other side with your right hand and flip it over
12)trim the excess dough
13)design edges using the fork and prick the bottom
14)optional: egg wash to have a golden pie crust

B. Custard Filling:

1)Combine eggs, evaporated milk, and condensed milk
2)mix well
4)whip egg white until soft peaks
5)add whipped egg white to the custard mixture
6)fold in whipped egg white into the custard mixture and set aside

C. Assemble and cook

1)turn down the heat of the stove
2)place a cake pan inside or a tray
3)palce the pastry over the cake pan
4)Pour the custard filling(this will prevent the custard from spillage)
5)spread the whipped egg white evenly
6)cover and cook for 45 min. over low heat
Note:Toothpick check after 45 min. and if it is not yet cook adjust the heat to medium low and check every 5 min.
7)when the toothpick comes out clean the egg pie is cook
8)Take the egg pie out and let it cool completely before cutting
