welcome to week 2 baking with theThorntons this week we are making peanutbutter pie y’all get ready quickshoutout to our family in Michigan youknow that no have family in Michigan butnow you do okay I got this recipe mysenior in high school when I was outthere visiting and it pretty muchchanged my life so anyway I wanted toshare this with you all yell enjoythe recipe isn’t exactly what we’redoing here have made a couple littletweaks to what we’re actually going forso let’s let’s check this out togetherfirst things first is we’re going to dothe mix that goes into pi so what you’regoing to need is your powdered sugaryour Cool Whipand your peanut butter and of coursehere’s the new addition a eath bar we’regoing to open up your powdered sugarnext something I forgot cream cheesevery vital to this so you do the fourounces of cream cheese which is half ofone of these regular bars nexteveryone’s favorite parts of peanutbutter you can take a spoon scoop it outa little yeah flop it in there that’salmost perfect and hey everyone likes alittle extra peanut butter so if youwant to put a little extra in peoplelike me would not complain about thatnext we have Cool Whip okay here’s thedifference I’m going to teach you how tomake a homemade whipped cream in asecond and so usually so that’s what Iuse for the top but if you want to we’reonly gonna use half the Cool Whip for inthe mixture you can just put the otherhalf on top as well if you don’t want todo the homemade I think the homemadetastes better but that’s just me now formy personal favorite is heath bar sowe’re gonna get just this bag of heathbar crumbles you can buy the h-e-b kindof horror out of it and this is honestlyfor your preference you can put aslittle or as much as you want to Iusually put a good bit in it because Ilike a little crunch to it we’re alsogoing to use it for garnish at the endwe’re gonna go ahead and fill this upyou want to kind of mush it around alittle bit so that you don’t have stuffflying all over your kitchen keep yourmom happy okay you’re going to start tosee it kind of get a little thick thatmeans we’re doing real good but there’sstill stuff on the side of the bowl thatwe’re going to need to mix in awesomenow this may not look like a lot butremember we’re just making one pie outof this recipe so again because this isour pie that’s not your pie I’m gonnastick my finger in it because you haveto know it your product tastes likenow I’m going to put this mix into thepie crust this is just a standard grahamcracker crust from h-e-b nothing fancyyou want to be careful kind of managerputting this mixture in here your piecrust because this is such a thick mixwill probably crack and split that’sokay because when we’re done with thiswe’re just going to put it in thefreezer okay so now it’s time to makethe homemade whipped creamyou actually can only need to use 8ounces of heavy whipping cream which ishalf of one of these so they come in asmaller carton as well if you want touse one of those as you can see there’snot a ton of intense measuring that goeson with the whipped cream it’s a loteasier than you thinkyou just have to try it this is just youdon’t have to have the 1/3 cup it’s justwhatever is clean I’m just going to geta scoop of powdered sugar and dump it inmaybe a tad more call it good and thenthe thing with whip creamis that it just takes some time tothicken and you’ll see that process here[Music]you can see that this is a little bitthicker than what it used to be we stillhave a little bit ways to go if you wantyou can add a little bit more powderedsugar to thicken it a little bit quickerjust depends how rich you want it on topall right so now our whipped cream isnice and thick you really can’t go toothick with that you want to make sureit’s not runny whenever you put it onthat could be somewhat of a messit’s just a lot nicer when it’s thickeragain you can use the other half thecool whip but maybe I’m high maintenancebut I like the homemade whipped creamokay so all we’re gonna do is we’regoing to take it we’re going to scoop itor toss it on and then the final touchis just heat bar two for a garnish sothe same crumbles that you put inside ofit you can throw some one on top it isnot baking required for this so all youhave to do is take your pie dish coverlet me give it to you want to make sureyou get all the sticky stuff off andthen you can either eat this right awayor what I recommend is that you stick itin the freezer for for a couple hoursmake it nice and cold and then you takeit out cut you a slice and you’rewelcome for that because it’s gonna be agreat thingOdell enjoy peanut butter pie this weekalso a reminder towe have Lord’s Supper at 7 o’clock butthe church is doing it’ll be streamedonline and on Facebook so you can tunein go to the church website or thechurch Facebook page and you can find itthen we’ll see you guys next week
