✨How to Bake Mini Apple Hand Pies!✨

Ingredients:
20 ounces of apples, chopped – I used 2 granny smith and 2 honeycrisp apples
2 ounces of water
2 ounces of brown sugar
4 teaspoons of cornstarch
2 ounces of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
-Spice mix-
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of cardamom
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon allspice

To make the filling:
1. Cook the apples, water, vanilla and butter in a saucepan over medium to high heat until it comes to a boil and the apples have softened.
2. In a separate bowl combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, and spices.
3. Add to the cooking apples and stir in.
4. Cook the apple mixture until it has thickened.
5. Pour out into another bowl and let cool completely at room temperature, storing in the fridge until you’re ready to use it.

To assemble the hand pies:
6. Roll your pie dough out very thin, ~ 1/16″. Cut circles out of the pie dough. Chill the circles in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
7. Place a spoonful of the chilled apple filling in the center of each circle of pie dough and seal the dough with water.
8. Chill your assembled hand pies in the freezer until ready to bake.
9. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
10. Place your hand pies on a parchment lined baking sheet, and brush with heavy cream. Sprinkle the tops with sanding sugar.
11. Bake until lightly golden brown ~13-18 minutes. The bake time will depend on your oven.
