I Make Matty Matheson’s Blueberry Pancakes | Firsts

Welcome to “Firsts”, where I cook recipes I like from around the web, for the first time.

Today I make blueberry pancakes, inspired by Matty Matheson’s own recipe featured on Munchies. This is the first time I’ve made pancakes and they turned out pretty well. Haven’t had a pancake in a while, though, so I don’t have much to compare mine to. The ingredients for pancakes are cheap and easy to find! Give this recipe a try if you like something sweet for breakfast.

Ingredients:
Flour
Maple syrup
Buttermilk (or whole milk and white vinegar)
Baking soda
Baking powder
Pam
Blueberries
Whisk
Mixing bowls
Eggs (at room temp)
Butter (at room temp)
Fish slice or spatula
Sifter

hey what’s up guys my name is David andwelcome to my youtube channel today I’mgoing to be making many magazinesblueberry pancakes it’s also the firsttime I’m making pancakesMaddy is a chef you’re very entertaininghuman being go check out her channelI’ll link it below so as far asingredients go we have flour we havebaking soda baking powder we’ve gotwhole milk and white wine vinegar andfor a buttermilk substitute we havebutter at room temperature blueberriesI’ve got pan got eggs at roomtemperature I’ve got maple syrup I’vegot a whisk for mixing things I’ve got aspatula also for mixing things I’ve gota sifter and a bowl also for mixingthings I forgot that we also need somesugar let’s be going this is all readyand I can tell I’m not going to be agood idea but I did not put the rest ofme out so okay[Applause]I copied it to my phone because this ismuch less expensive so we’re gonna startby adding two cups of flour to the bowland we’re going to stick them into thebowllike more then we had about threetablespoons of sugar to the flourthen we’re gonna add a little bit ofbaking powder about five key pups Maddiewhatever that meanshow about I’m gonna do a little over ateaspoon I guess the baking timeand the baking powder is supposed tomake it fluffy and we’re just going toadd a little bit of baking soda Iactually don’t even remember what why 90knots picking each other but he says toadd much less just a tiny little bit sowe’re going to do maybe just like aquarter teaspoon and we’re going to adda little pinch of saltI don’t know why and now we’re going tomix it this next thing okay so now I’mgoing to get started on the wet mix sofor the wet mix we’re going to takeabout a third of a stick of butter andmelt a bit of camp before I do thebutter I have to do actually two eggsbecause Maddie made his mistake in hisvideo where he left the butteraccidentally overcook I’m walking on theeggs so I’m gonna do the eggs firstso and I also got two more bowls I’mgonna use this one for the egg yolks sowe’re going to separate digging withfour eggs from their yolks basicallypour the contents back and forth betweenthe two shells like this and it sort ofjust cuts the egg white so that’s threeso now we’re going to whisk the eggwhites and then add the butter notewhile whisking I’m like I said I’m goingto use whole milk and a little bit ofwhite wine vinegar instead and we’regonna do about two cups of that wholemilk mixtureI really should have looked up how tomake buttermilk from home milk andvinegar so so if we did two cups ofwhole milk we’re going to do twotablespoons of white wine vinegar and wehave to allow to sit at room temperaturewhich we did not doso I guess while we’re waiting for themilk to thicken I’m gonna do the eggyolks where’s sir the egg yolks I reallydon’t know how long I’m supposed to bestirring this for I’m gonna add somesugar maybe like 8 teaspoons maybe 10teaspoons okay I think the butter issupposed to be done already and I havenot started I’m still and I’m whiskingthe yolks so I’m gonna start the butternow and continue whisking and help Ididn’t mess anything up[Music]so all that clutter is going I thinkmaybe the milk is okay so I’m going tostart adding it to the whites so I’mgonna start whisking the whites and I’mgoing to slowly add the buttermilk whilewhisking so now I am going to go back tothe yolks I’m going to add the meltedbutter also slowlythat’s how it looks and now I’m gonnaadd the yolks to the whites I reallydon’t know if this is thick enough atall whatever it’s gonna go with it sonow I’m going to add the flour the drymix into the wetness slowly well stir itdon’t think it’s supposed to be thatthin I’m gonna put this in the fridgefor who knows how long I really don’tknow if I did this plate at all okay sonow we’re actually going to start makingthese finally so Maddie did not say howhot the fence must be before I put thisstuff in I’m doing this is oh my god Icouldso I’m gonna make a regular one a plainone and then I’m gonna put blueberrieson the next onemy battery cut out so I went outside tograb a burger now I’m back and in thattime I washed the blueberries so let’sget some pan so think for the first onewe poured a bit too much batter so I’mjust going to go it’s good like that’soh that’s pretty good I also feel thelast one I kind of touched the edges alittle too much and kind of made me alittle hug we and prevented it fromcooking the same way throughout so I’lljust leave it like this until I thinkthe bottom is golden brown so there’ssome bubbles forming I think once yousee those and you want to wait like abit longer before you flip it to theother side now I’m going to flip thisone oh yeah oh yeah this okay I’m gonnatake it up[Applause]we’re gonna put blueberries on herewhere I’m staying the bubbles again Ithink I can flip this oneokay looks about done so this is thesecond one and this is the third onethat I did with blueberries and I’mgonna trythere’s a lot of battery leftthat’s good oh my godI’m going to be eating pancakes for thenext four daysI’m trying to think about things I couldhave done back like the buttermilk Ididn’t have so like I don’t know if I’dlet the vinegar sit long enough with themilk so like really condense it and thenI mean generally I think it came outpretty well so that’s itthanks for tuning in I’m gonna have toclean all this up and make like ten morepancakes I’ll see you next time[Music]
