this is Miss Diane from FinkelsteinMemorial Library and welcome East dramapoutines today we are going to not makethe as promised bread puddingonce again I do not have quite enoughbread but we are gonna use thebuttermilk we made from last time tomake buttermilk pancakes so um and nothave enough buttermilk from last week’sof butter recipe so we are going to besubstituting some of the buttermilk withum powdered buttermilk which you canfind at the grocery store and probablyhas not been raided so this is a reallygood thing to have around because youcan make muffins and cakes and all kindsof stuff with it and it just sits inyour fridge and it lasts for about ayear so you can get a lot of recipes outof it and you don’t need to have freshbutter milk on hand which is great okayso let’s get goingnow the recipe I’m using is the oneright from the side of this can but youcan find tons of good buttermilk pancakerecipes already so we’re gonna startwith our dry ingredients first andforemost one cup of flour now we’regoing to add a half a teaspoon of saltwe’re gonna add an one tablespoon ofsugar okay our buttermilk powder nowthis can be substituted one tablespoonfor every quarter cup of buttermilk foryour recipe so since we already have ahalf a cup from last week’s butterexperiment I only need two tablespoonsof this and another half cup of waterwhich we’re gonna add in later so if youhave the buttermilk up leftover fromlast week justtablespoon but if you’re using all thepowdered buttermilk you’re going to use4 tablespoons all righty now left overhere we have baking soda and bakingpowder you’re gonna want to put it in 1teaspoon of the baking powder and just1/2 a teaspoon of the baking sodathere there to make your pancakes fluffyI get them mixed up – all righty allright so that’s a car dry ingredientswe’re gonna use a wire whisk to stirthat around and just read everythingevenly the recipe calls for sifting thisI never bother it this is so much fasterokay and we’re doing okay so that leavesus with our wet ingredients all right sowe are gonna add one eggtwo tablespoons of vegetable oil areleft over 1/2 cup of buttermilkand we’re using just a half a cup ofwater but if we have used the entirerecipe with the powdered buttermilkyou’d be using a full cup of water heregreat all right so we’re gonna whisk itall together and we’ll have our pancakebatter this mixes together reallyquickly and you don’t want to beat ituntil it’s smooth a few lumps are okaygreat okay now we are gonna let thisrest for a momentletting your batter sit for a moment ortwo will allow your pancakes to become alittle bit more fluffy as the bakingsoda baking powder and buttermilk worktheir magic and make it puff up a littlebit and thinking you’re better all rightso this recipe makes about ten four inchpancakes so you can easily double therecipe if you need to according to boxall right now let’s go fire up thegriddle so we are going to cook up ourpancakes now if you don’t have anelectric griddle a regular Gradle willdo if you don’t have a regular griddlelike this any old frying pan will doalright so I put some butter down and weare going to wait until that is totallymelted and a little bit bubbly it lookslike it is to me one last test it’s alittle drop of water hisses damn yourgriddle is ready it’sall right so I usually get my batterwhich is been resting all this time onelittle quick start this batter is supersuper thick and then I just make silverdollars and we’re just going to pourthem nice and gentle feel free to makeTurtles or other shapes okay and we aregoing to let that sit until they startto bubble now if you don’t have a batterbowl that has a little pour spout youcan also use a soup ladle to get yourbatter on the griddle and that will befine too and now we waitI used butter on my grill but you don’thave to you can also use just a sprayoil out of a can and that’s even easierthe butter just gives it a really niceflavor all right so our pancakes areready to flip now and we can tellbecause they’ve bubbled up pretty nicelywe’ve got a little couple little cratersin there and more importantly you cansee like around the edges they arealready starting to cook so we’re ableto get our flipper underneath there andclip gently all rightythey cook on the second side muchshorter than on the first side so don’twalk away keep an eye on them andespecially with silver dollars theirlittle tiny pancakes these cook up supersuper quickall rightyeah evens are already turning around onthe other side so we’re going to goahead and put these over on our waitingratesokay and then all we have left is to addour butter and syrup and enjoy
