Blueberry Picking | How to make pancakes from scratch

Today, I take you blueberry picking in northern Wisconsin and then make easy and fluffy blueberry pancakes from scratch. Forget the box mix.
Please join me in my very first video. Yes, folks, this is my first YouTube video complete with flubs and plenty of ums and anyways. At one point, I even refer to the blueberries as strawberries. Do I cringe now or later?

time for a second cup of coffee herehello welcome my name is Ingrid and Iwrite the travel blog called lip flap RVmy husband and I have been living in ourRV full-time since 2013 Wow somebody hadtold me seven years ago we’d still beliving in our RV I’d tell them they werecrazy but anyway it’s kind of anaddictive lifestyle for those of youthat do follow my blog you know I’mprobably a little more comfortablebehind the camera than I am in front ofthe camera so this is my very firstvideo and what I’d like to do is takeyou on a tour of blueberry picking up innorthern Wisconsin I also share myrecipe of delicious blueberry pancakesso hopefully you’ll enjoy the journey asmuch as I didand thanks for stopping by I’m inBayfield Wisconsin today and I’m gettingready to go blueberry picking Bayfieldis located at the very northern edge ofWisconsin along the shores of LakeSuperior anyway I haven’t been blueberrypicking in a long time so let’s go seewhat we can findokay we’re heading down this trail onour way out to the blueberry field so wecan see if we can pick some decentblueberries so gotta be around heresomewhereso we found some of the blueberry bushesthese are the organic ones and I thinkwe’re gonna start start pickin herewe’ve found ourselves some blueberriesYUM so all these bushes here right forthe picking so when we get home we willbe making some blueberry pancakes andsome would you say we’re gonna make mysister-in-law is behind the camera weare making a blueberry coffee cake rightsounds we’re gonna get pickin and we’llshow you our loot when we’re all done[Music]absolutely infatuated with this gorgeousbarn here and of course they’ve gotthese beautiful gardens and let’s see Ihave my stash of blueberries here I’mnot too bad I think I’ll have plenty forsome blueberry pancakes and someblueberry coffee cake I’m sure that’llmake my husband a very happy camper solet’s head on inside and pay for[Music]blueberries that we picked and see whatother treats they might have but in themeantime we’re gonna take in thebeautiful garden herepull myself away okay time to gogood morning yesterday my sister-in-lawwent up but they filled Wisconsin anddid some blueberry picking we managed toget about five pounds of blueberries andso now we got to figure out what we’regonna do with all those blueberries andsince it’s morning we decided whatbetter way to start the day than withsome blueberry pancakes so what if thatsifted together in my bowl it’s one anda half cups of flour 3 tablespoons ofgranulated sugar 1 tablespoon of bakingpowder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt you’regonna use unsalted or if you’re gonnause salted butter then go ahead and youknow don’t add the salt here so let’sget started with the rest of ouringredients in here I’ve got one and aquarter cups of milk 2 eggs 1/2 ateaspoon of vanilla and now we’re gonnahave to add our 3 tablespoons of meltedbutter now the reason I didn’t add themelted butter right away as we didn’twant to scramble the eggs so I kind oflet the butter temper down just a littlebit so it wasn’t super hot and we’rejust gonna whisk that in there and thenone of the things I like to do is I go alittle bit short on the milkwell actually here’s a little secret Iwas out of milk and I am lactoseintolerant to begin with so a lot oftimes I will use almond milk I didn’teven have any element relics so we’regonna use water and I’m only using 1 cupof water and I’m also I got someleftover coffee from drinking and I’mgonna go ahead and add one tablespoonthat’s my coffee in there I promise it’snot gonna taste you know like coffee oranything like that but it is gonna addjust a littlesomething something special to thepancake so then we’re just gonna get itall in here and since I don’t have adishwasher in my RV I’m all for keepingthings minimal I’m just using a bigspoon here to mix everything you knowthe less dishes the better and we don’tneed to be fancy about anything and weonly want to mix this you know untileverything’s incorporated if there’sstill a few lumps in here that’s totallyfine last thing we want to do is mix ittoo muchso you can see it’s so got some lumpsbut we want to make sure that there’s noflour that that hasn’t been incorporatedso just make sure all the flour is wellmixed in and let me do that we are goodto go like I said there’s still lumpsthere now I’m gonna take my strawberriesthat we’ve washed drained dried off youreally want to make sure that they’renot wet because then that’s gonna addmore moisture to your your batter herewe don’t want to do that so I had abouta cup I’m gonna see that’s enough wereally like a lot of blueberries in ourpancakesso the other thing I’ve done in the castis also added some walnuts which that’susually pretty good so we’re gonna justlet this sit for a little bit and stovestarted because we want to get ourskillet nice and warm you don’t knowanything about Bayfield Wisconsin it isoh gosh um really at the furthestnorthern part of the state of Wisconsinit’s along the shores of Lake Superiorand it’s best known for the Gateway tothe Apostle Islands National Lakeshoreand which is really really prettywe’ve been wanting to get out for one oftheir boat tours up there but evertime we happen to be in the area we’reeither so busy doing something else likepicking blueberries or it’s been bookedwhich they do booked up but we’re cominginto the let’s see it’s at middle aboutAugust right now and the season is kindof tailing off so when we were blueberrypicking we noticed that town wasn’tnearly as crowded as it was the lasttime we visited which was at the end ofJuly it was really crazy busy then soyou really have to have thosereservations for the boat tours you canalso go camping and you know tentcamping any of the islands and the boatswill will take you there drop you off soanyway what I’m doing here is I’m kindof deciding how big I want my pancakesale and I like I’m just a little bitbigger we’re actually not going to haveanything else with our pancakes thismorning you know if I were makingbreakfast we’re we’re gonna do bacon andeggs and pancakes this batter would bemore than enough for a family of foursince we’re just gonna eat the pancakesAl and I can pretty much polish off thatwhole batter by ourselvesshouldn’t it make that should i butanyway what we’re gonna do before youflip them and you got to be patient Iknow I flip them a lot times I flip themtoo early you want to make sure thatthere’s bubbles I got bubbles startingto form on the side and like I said getimpatient and flip too soon otherwiseyou’ll have better flying all over yeahI’ve been there done that so we’re justgonna wait a little bit here make surethey’re not sticky I’m gonna give it atry see how bad I screw upya see not golden brown on the outsideI’m gonna wait let these other two I’vejust a little bit longer okay we got ourlast two that are done you can see nicegolden around the edges that’s perfect Ialready have one plate totally done putsome bananas on top al likes a littleextra butter we’ll add the maple syrup Igot my second cup of coffee so I’m gonnago ahead and I already brought al hisplate we’re sitting outside today it’s agorgeous day on the lake and up inHayward Wisconsin today so we’re gonnago have our breakfast outside but in themeantime I hope this showed you how youdon’t need to make pancakes out of a boxit’s super easy and it can be done in anRV if it can be done in my little RVkitchen it can be done in in your placeas well enjoy so did you watch the videoto the end or did you fast forward itobviously you’re still here so what didyou think give me a thumbs up if youliked it feel free to leave comments Ialways love comments and if this worksout ok maybe I’ll do some more video
