making chocolate chip cookies with Mrs. Gavin

hi boys mrs. Gavin here hope you all areenjoying your vacation it’s hard tobelieve it’s only been one week sincewe’ve been out of school the next fewdays are going to be rainy and so Ithought I would teach you how to makechocolate chip cookiesI have Thomas here as my assistant andI’m going to give him the direction solet’s see how well he listensso Thomas you’re going to first startwith the dry ingredients and we’re goingto need two and a half cups of flourthis voice is a measuring cup tells youhow much to measure it was up before cupso he’s going to have to look for twocups you say hi to the boysI like to do to not the core I like todo just to because I liked em les Joeyno two bouncers I can’t see cuz it on myglasses smells a little bit more thereboys no I’m always losing my glassesokay so that goes in thereand the big bowl so you mix the dryingredients firstso Thomas can you show us okay so oneteaspoon of baking soda so this isbaking soda and he’s gonna need to findone teaspoon can you find one teaspoonso you’re okay so 1/2 teaspoon plus 1/2teaspoon is 1 teaspoon so we’re going todo 1/2 a teaspoon of salt[Music]okay so now you’re gonna mix togetherokay so then you’re going to set the dryingredients aside set the dryingredients and set aside Thomas and nowwe’re going to mix our well not reallywet but they are so the next step we’regoing to do is two cups of nope yep onecup of softened butter which is twosticks of butterI forgot to mention the beginning thismake sure you wash your hands firstthat’s always whatever you’re cookingwhich we did thiswe’ve gotta clear this rebellion alrightso you’ve got your two sticks of buttersoftened now you’re going to do 3/4 acup of brown sugar which I alreadymeasured out so 3/4 a cup is just underone cup and now you’re going to do ofcourse a cup of regular sugar which isin there so Thomas you can measure thatoutdoes that show three-fourths yes yes nono it doesn’t so just use that that’sfinethree fourths honey no no so we learnfrom our mistakes and that’s fineso Thomas missed it there was a onebefore that so 3/4 into 1/4 plus 1/4plus 1/4 equals 3/4 so it’s going to beunderneath a cop pun okay so we’ll justdump this out and that looks about rightor that inso I’m going to mix this in the mixernow we’re actually down the Cape sowe’re not at our house we’re gonna housedown the Cape and I go my usual mixerhere so it’s a little bit of a babyyou mix that and then you’re supposed tobe adding one egg at a time and then dothe egg so that we don’t get any shellsin here so you do one egg no and thenyou turn this back onrightyou want to do this city want me to doitis your second egg and we’re going tomix the stockthis might take a few minutes so look atcome right backso once you’ve blended the eggs and thesugar you are going to add some vanillaextract which is two teaspoons dad withjudo extra oh it’s only a half ok sowhere do I need to add two more timestwo more hats to mix that up[Applause]okay so then what I’m going to do is youwant to add your flour just a little bitat a timestir it and keep adding it until all theflour mixture is in the in the bowl sowe’ll go back welcome back so once it’sall blended together it should look likethis with this consistency and then youcan add two cups of your favoritechocolate chips and we happen to use theKyra deliso promise you to measure what I don’twant the whole bag to measure 2 cupsthat works two cups okay greatso you want to do it a little bit at atime mix it up and then a little bit oftime mix up so the chips are kind ofevenly placed out and then we’ll showyou how to put them on the cookie sheetokay we’re back this is the batter withthe chocolate chips in it and now youwant to take a tablespoon and fill itand drop it on to and fun greased cookiesheet and once your cookie shoes filledyou’re going to bake it in the oven at375 for 9 to 11 minutes and Tomas youcan use that or you can use it’sprobably a little bit bigger than ittablespoon oh that’s gonna be a giantcookie over thereokay so he’ll place these on the cookiesheet and then so we’re here now withthe finished product just came out ofthe oven what do you think join us takea bite good alright so if you have leftover cookie dough you can refrigerate itor freeze it for another time or you cancontinue to make some more cookies it’sup to you as always please be safe inthe kitchennever use the stove without a parent andI’m looking forward to talking to youvia email and the days to come and Iwould love to hear any of your favoriterecipes or just some great things thatyou’ve been doing around the house ofgames youyou’ve been playing shoot me a quickvideo let me know see you later boys
