The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet that in medicine is used mainly to treat hard-to-control epilepsy in children. The diet forces the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates.

Normally carbohydrates in food are converted into glucose, which is then transported around the body and is important in fueling brain function. But if little carbohydrate remains in the diet, the liver converts fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies, the latter passing into the brain and replacing glucose as an energy source. An elevated level of ketone bodies in the blood eventually lowers the frequency of epileptic seizures.

*Ingredients to make Keto Walnut coconut cookies *
Walnuts – 1 cup
Coconut flour – 1/4 cup
(If you don’t have coconut flour you can use desiccated coconut)
Sugar – 1/2 cup
( I personally don’t like to Xylitol / Erythritol, hence I have used raw brown sugar, this cookie is not too sweet, increase or decrease sugar according to your wish)
Nutmeg – 1/4 tsp
Butter – 3 oz
(Substitute butter with coconut oil for vegan version )
