hey everyone you’re watching preppy
kitchen where I John can I’ll teach you
how to make delicious home-cooked dishes
for your friends and family today we are
making peanut butter cookies so simple
so irresistible let’s get started I’m
making his cookies for my kids
babysitter
she loves peanut butter so I thought
what better accrete than peanut butter
cookies I can just send her home with at
the end of the night and hopefully she
enjoys them all right 180 grams of
all-purpose flour into a ball I’m gonna
sift it up and whisk it up but you don’t
have to with skiing is fine
so now three-quarters of a teaspoon of
baking powder and half a teaspoon of
salt this is sea salt you could use
kosher salt I prefer you don’t use
iodized salt it’s a little harsh
all right I’ll take the scale away I
know it bothers you
oh my gosh what else flour sift sift
sift I feel like that flour appeared on
the counter by magic like some dragon
come out of the fire okay clean your
mess up and then set it aside now for
the non dry ingredients I’m gonna add
one half of a cup now for the dry
ingredients I’m adding in 1/2 of a cup
of unsalted room-temperature butter and
one cup of peanut butter so one cup of
peanut butter I mean you go not messy at
all right mix it up just to combine it a
bit first okay that’s nice and delicious
looking by the way this is great on
toast as is just saying that 1/2 of a
cup of packed light brown sugar packed
just means like you tamp it down a bit
because the sugar can kind of be a bit
Spacey in between like me on any day
ending and why okay then half a cup of
white sugar can you go we’re gonna mix
this up now until it’s combined a little
fluffy
alright let’s scrape the ball down with
our peanut butter encrusted spatula I
was making this recipe yesterday as like
a run-through and also to do all my
still photography and today all of the
cameras smell like peanut butter okay
now we’re gonna add that again no shells
mix it up alright I’m adding in a splash
of vanilla you can let me know in the
comments if you know what video that’s
from
okay a delicious anytime treat but we’re
gonna add some flour to it and bake it
up actually I never whisked up my flour
I can’t do anything right alright whisk
whisk whisk whisk whisk whisk whisk okay
let’s add that flour in and mix it up on
low there you go
crease speed scrape it down there’s a
lot of things hanging around in here
mmm you want to see a similar cookie
check out my chocolate chip peanut
butter cookies the recipes a bit
different but they are like peanut
butter chocolate salt cookie dreams all
right mix up a bit more okay so the
cookies could be any size you want if
you’d like them nice and uniform how
about two tablespoons or 40 grams give
that a nice little roll roll roll roll
into a ball doesn’t have to be perfect
we’re gonna be smashing it down with a
fork this was actually one of the very
first recipes I did on preppy kitchen
calm you can click up here to see it the
original version was like the really
really basic peanut butter cookie with
no flour just peanut butter sugar egg I
think and I made a marshmallow sandwich
with them with marshmallow fluff it was
cool wasn’t I’m like one of the things
that did well and I was like oh my gosh
this is amazing it got like a few shares
on Facebook and I was like so excited
just keep going scooping up that around
40 grams you get about 18 to 20 cookies
from this batch depending on the size
time of day etc etc when your balls of
dough are all rolled out you’re gonna
get a fork a big one please and for the
traditional peanut butter cookie you
make a crosshatch so press down one
slide it out and press down too that’s
all there is to it if you want to be
less cracked you can tamp it down a bit
first
then press down
it’s like that for cap pressed down and
slide the fork out if you want to see
what a crazy person does to get them to
look perfect let me show you skewers so
take two skewers you’re gonna cut them
in half
now you can simulate the tines of a fork
this took much longer to do I have a set
of these for photography that I made
yesterday but I wanted to show you in
case you’re ever wondering kind of
randomly like how do they do it mine
look all cracked and weird okay so here
we go see that press down remove and
then press down in the other way you can
tape these together so you’re not
holding them in this weird fashion here
we go
so worth the extra effort I don’t know
but I did it but for now at the fork
works fine you can put it back together
if it falls apart a bit unlike poor
Humpty Dumpty you know like they don’t
mention that Humpty Dumpty is an egg
Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall Humpty
Dumpty had a great fall
doesn’t say he’s an egg some guy named
Humpty Dumpty clearly I’ve been reading
too many BuzzFeed listicles you can let
me know in the comments if you’re guilty
of this as well
or if I’m just a sad basic monster okay
these look nice perfectly homemade and
smashed they’re gonna go into the oven
at 350 for 9 to 10 minutes you don’t
want them to burn they’re going to stay
alight but then firm up as they cool
down so you have to leave them on the
cooling rack no you leave them on the
baking tray until they firm up basically
okay into the oven cookies are out of
the oven and cool enough to touch which
one do you like better let me know in
the comments my fancy skewer version
where I faked the fork or the actual
fork one where it looks a little more
rustic and homemade I kind of like both
although I don’t know if there’s
something about this that’s appealing to
the inner double Virgo and me
mm-hmm that has all the peanut butter
flavor you could want just right amount
of sweetness it’s like a soft chewy
cookie it has that peanut butter fall
apart in your mouth feeling if you know
what I mean it’s really good mmm
