and add two bananas along with vanillabutter so much so it says in anothermixing bowl master bath bananas what youdid with more eggs our Father who art inheaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdomcome Thy will be done on earth as it isin heaven[Music]give us this day our daily bread andforgive us our trespasses as we forgivethose who trespass against us and leadus not into temptation but deliver us[Music]this is the unfolding story of the lifewe are building together as I try tomake a difference and live each day likeit’s my lives[Music][Music]my family has a little restaurant rightdown the road from our farm to actuallyone is the original cafe that my wifeJoey and sister Marcy opened in 2007where for the last dozen years or sothey’ve been serving homemade meals anddoing their best to change lives onebite at a timeand the other is a little bakery openedabout a year ago that my nephew Michaelruns just a couple of miles from theoriginal it too is in a converted oldgeneral store they mostly serve coffeedoughnuts and pastries and have beendoing pretty well but in the last monthor so like everyone else’s businessthey’ve had to adjust and my nephew hascome up with a different plan instead ofselling the bread they make they’regiving it awaybecause of the shortage of bread andgrocery stores in our area Michael hiswife Hannah and the few employees theyhave left have started offering freebread to local folks who need it I camedown to lend a hand for a few hours andencouraged him and all he’s doing howmany loaves of bread are you making nowa day right now we’re pushing about 205a days about what we get we’ve got thatbig old honking oven and crank out somebrass since I’ve never made bread beforeI asked him to show me how it’s done andso using one of Joey and Marcy’s recipesfrom our family cookbooks he walked methrough the bread making process frombeginning to get a cup of granulatedsugar 8 cups of bread flour this was achance for me to show my faith I wassitting there with my whole crew andknowing that there were only a fewoptions and all of them didn’t look verygood it all ended up with us probablynot making it closing the door so Idecided you know I think we’re justgonna start making bread like crazy andgiving it away to people that need it webrought all the churches together we’vebeen filling boxes of food we get a lotof messages on social media like I’vegot five kids the store won’t let me getthe one or two loaves of bread if theyhave any I really need them and we justload the truck up and go and take themthey’re just falling at the door youknow it’s so grateful daycares we’vebeen helping out there they got a bigneed for[Music]we’re just gonna give bread away andbless everybody and see what God doesand watch if I roll it under the floorisn’t bad it makes you feel great toobut you’re doing something to helpothers and you like you really start tofeel God move that feeling of love andand helping people is where God movesthe most you know like that’s it touchesmy heart whenever I can show hey God’sthere and put your faith in him watchyou want to jump with me but are youscared let’s do that you know likethat’s what I love you know I gets mewound up[Music]Martha’s character though alright that’scharacter hey what can I do for you howabout if I buy them for you today one ofmy favorite things about our familyhaving the restaurant and bakery nearbyis the chance to meet people and feelmore connected to our community mr.Potter what you got here and reconnectwith old friends we haven’t seen in awhilewell come on back here how long you beenplaying here at the restaurant now sinceit opened mr. Potter lived out in thisarea long before I did he and I made alot of music together in the 90s beforehe moved away he recently moved backhere and has started playing on Sundaysat the bakery well listen we’re not uhwe’re not Facebook liveing but maybe youand I could just play something togetherwin played in awhile I’d be great wewrote some songs but my favorite songthat we wrote is called funny how lovewe wrote that I think long before I evermet Joey long before love you knowchanged me yeah the way they did the waythat it was like one of our first yoursecond songs well let me let me grab theguitar and we’ll the translatornever gave much thought to ride andI never really had that much to saysince you came along I write poetry insongfunny how love can changeI never really wanted to beand free was Howard’s day but with onelook at youI knew my single days funny how love canchange a mansuddenlyI’m feeling so much different I want youbeside you[Music]funny how love change[Music]never really cared that much forchildren[Music]they’re just another thing to make yourhair turn Oh now every child I seeis bringing out the deadfunny how love can changesuddenly I’m loves to spend time withher aunt Marcy she has a house full oftoys and books and also because she’s agreat cookguess what my favorite is the cow saidnay that’s Papa’s book that’s myfavorite so do you want to help auntMarcy make some banana nut bread for popup for tonight all right let’s go thesugar and the butter so I’ve already gotbutter melted do you like banana andthen sugar one and a half cups of sugarso I’m gonna come over here[Music]one[Music]their step right here look and anothermixing bowl mashed bananas using it forall right Andy it’s gonna be you I’mgonna take this for you just gonna mashjust beat eggs and add two bananas alongwith vanilla buttermilk so Russgraduates so it says in another mixingbowl mashed bananas what you did withthe fourth beat eggs so kind of likehere let me hold onto the banana allright so you hold this one in your handjust like that right thereand we’re going to do for gutter countwith me 1 2 3 ok very goodnow next mix well and add to creamedbutter and sugar ok another bowl siftflour so let me get flour how much flourdo we need Wendyit’s two cups it comes right there yepvery good[Music]right to bearwhat you’re getting kind of crazy on mehere now huh good job all right okaysoda and saltone and a half soda and 3/4 go ahead Iuse the line in cooking add two bananamixture well let me stir that up youknow you’re gonna work in the restaurantone day right and what’s it calledMarcie Jose do you know what we’remaking banana nut bread and you knowwhose recipe it is grandma’s there’sgrandma’s recipe grandmas up in heavenwith mama[Music]Meza and Marcy’s mom that’s Papa’s momher name is grandma Rita can you saygrandma Rita and this is the one thattaught us how to make the banana breadoh that’s beautiful and being big job soJoey and I ran the restaurant togetheruntil four years ago until we lost herto cancer and now I’ve been continuingrunning it and then just recently a yearago I had a stroke and my son Michaelstepped in and you know decided to helpme Papa’s gonna love this banana nutbread during that time we found anotherold 18-hundreds building about threemiles from the original restaurant andwe call that Marcy Joe’s bakery andthat’s what Michael is running for usnow what are you next we’re gonna takethis off when Michael was born I raisedhim by myself until he was three and henever really knew his father when momhad me she was unsure she you know youngand wild and about 10 years old sherealized and knew that I wasn’t actuallyPhillips but she was afraid to tell meif this could be really hard for me totalk about and Michael struggling withthat I don’t know how to explain it butI I had a feeling something wasn’t rightI was so afraid that Michael day and shestarted crying I decidedI’m did telling him who his real fatherwas and open up that yearbook andpointed to him and said Phillips nowyour real dad I mean I said I knew itand I just[Music]all right now Andy I remember the daythat Michael’s father showed up to hisapartment Michael opened up the door andhis dad Sutton hello son and it was justso special it was pretty awesome I’mgonna outlive that further he got themeters real father you’re gonna be myteacher right I looked for that so longit felt like it came too late I wasalready grown up and I found who I wasyou met his dad and and that waswonderful and everything but Michael’sstill struggled with that and so youknow he was in and out of rehab likethree different times and and it gotreally serious we almost lost him thislast time and but he’s you know turnedhis life around and and hoping me it’sjust been a blessingyou need coming out of it like I didfinding my faith and the way the thingsthat have changed like I want to be ableto show people that it’s possible youknow try to be a good role model forpeople that are struggling and that’swhy I love having this place and beingable to do this you know like that’swhat I love you know it gets me wound upall right Andyso this is the praline all right allright back in the oven we go there itgoes all right give me how this is theunfolding story of the life we arebuilding together as I try to make adifference in live each day like it’s mylives[Music][Music]in a time like this it’s easy to feellike there’s not much we can do toreally help and make a difference in thebig picture sometimes all we can do isoffer what we have our time our money orour bread and especially our prayers andtrust God to show us the next step[Music]often the memories we treasure most arethe ones where we gave ourselves away tosomeone else and the sweet flavor ofthem will remain on our tongue and inour hearts long after this moment ispassedoh good it was great he loved it big todo yeah so preciousyou got what did you guys have agrandma’s homemade
