welcome to mornings with mr. Coltenmorning welcome to mornings with mr.Colten today we are going to make whateverybody’s been making this wholequarantine time we’re gonna try to makebread we’re just gonna make a yeastbread nothing too fancy in fact thesimplest recipe you could probably evenmake hopefully it’ll be foolproof allright Nick you ready yeah first we needa cup of warm water and a yeast packetthere we go so we’re gonna put the yeastpacket into the ball then we want half atablespoon of sugar and about the sameamount of salt sweet now we put in somewarm water and it should not be too toohot hot water top one should be justfine and throw that in and mix it upwith a spoon so we’re gonna leave thatfor a little bit we’re just gonna letgive that ten minutes well and it cleansup everything else so this is what itkind of looks like when it is proofedand ready to go to put this in the mixerwith the dough hook on now if you don’thave a mixer so where you can just dothis by yourself with stirring stick aspoon even use your hand if you reallywant to it asks for about three cups offlour but we’re not going to put it allat oncewhat we’re gonna do is we’re gonna putin one cup of flour first oh yeah sowe’re gonna put in one cup to begin withtop that’s where that cop is let’s startwith one cup of flour in there cuz we’rejust gonna start adding flour as we goso we’re gonna turn this onnice and slow as it mixes we’re gonnaadd fire as you go in the bread do youwant dog energy bread then don’t forgetthe dog while baking we could see thatthis is mixing ham pretty good we’regonna add another cup of flour we’regonna let this mix up really well beforewe start adding a little bit of the lastwell it’s as for three cups so we put intwo yeahnow we’re gonna let this mix upthoroughly before we start putting alittle bit by a little bit that lastcome on play with it we’re gonna getthere okay so you can see how it’sactually really already starting to formup we might not even need much of thatlast bit there is just pulling awaybut you know it’s still a little bitsticky now we’re gonna throw in just alittle bit more flour use the half cupthere yeah go ahead put that in thereyeah we’re going we’re gonna let that goagain so it’spulling away from the wallthere we go as thermal look really goodnow we can see our kind of pulled mostof the stuff most of the dough away fromthe ball so now we’re gonna do is takethat offcan you go wash your hands first yeahwell he’s doing that we’re gonna getthis surface ready with a little bit offlour just so it doesn’t stick yeah yeahoh it’s looking goodokay basically you just need it likethat you stick your hand in the centersquish out fold it back turn it a littlebit keep doing that just like that throwa little flour on it but it may stick toyour fingers and that’s okay at thispoint I’m not gonna film it all cuz Ihave to go wash this out really quickand then we’re gonna layer it oil andthat’s where we’re gonna put it in sohe’s gonna keep doing that squish andturn squishing turn squish and turn allright so here’s spent about five minutesjust kneading that like crazy is so funI don’t want to stop we’re gonna take alittle olive oil throw it in there’s nowa nice clean ball can you also usecanolayeah yeah you can in any kind of cookingoil into a nice ball throw it in the oilyeah all nice and oily my favorite andwe’re gonna leave that to rise throwwarm wet towel over it and we’re gonnaput in the sunroom cuz that’s ourwarmest place yeah we’re gonna let thatsit for an hour it’s been an hour and ahalf said somewhere between an hour andtwo and let’s take a look and look atthat that’s hugenow before we do anything turn on the wehave to boil some water and we’re justgonna wait for this to cool pile okay sowhile that’s boiling yeah don’t worryabout thatwe got to punch this down this is Nick’sfavorite part go right punch it right inthe mill there you gookay do again okay now take it out okayso oh you okay now you want to knead itagain just a little bit same thingsbefore flip it push it yeah there you gothat’s right quick two minutes so now Ican roll into a little log yes likeplay-doh all right cut that in themiddle okay now make those into ballsput those in the pan there we go putthat up I’m goodjust make three slits and let’s then weneed cold water just use the brush andgo over not sopping it just kind oflightly coating it with cold water justmace the outside nice and moist so weget a nice crust on it put it on top inthis case there we go so in the middleof the oven don’t close it yet becauseyou might ask yourself what are we gonnado with the boiling waterwhat are you boiling water we’re gonnafill up this pan with it with boilingwater do not burn anybody with it aboutan inch in the pan or that would beabout to now centimeters give or takeand what this is gonna do is gonna giveit a steam bath as it’s cooking look atthat you can see the steam and that’sgonna actually help make the crustreally nice and then we set it to 400and so cold oven middle rack underneathit boiling water in a roasting pan so400 degrees and 35 minutes to start Imight take 45 minutes but we’re gonna go35 always no a little less and then youcan check right now we’ll see the crustthen okay just dinged out of the oven sowe’re gonna get it out Wow look at theseoh that sounds good that’s not good yeahokay we’re gonna let that cool for abouthalf an hour okay so it’s been 10 minand we’re gonna slice them and put somehomemade jelly and some butter on that’sreal bread we made bread I’ll put thejelly you get the Joeynow get some on the
