How to Make Homemade Bread with your Food Storage | PART 1/2

With proper food storage, you can keep your items good for many years! This helps to keep for family secure in an emergency, allows you to have items on hand without running to the store, and allows you to save money by purchasing in bulk and storing long term! In this video, I’ll show you one of my favorite bread recipes using my food storage. You can store the dry ingredients of your favorite bread mixes in a vacuum-sealed bag as well! Dehydrated foods, like cucumber, carrot, cranberry, and many more, are excellent to add to homemade bread! Use your creativity! For more bread recipes, see our cookbooks and our website!

We love to help you dehydrate, store, and build your pantry! Here are some things we think will help you!

and this video I’m gonna show you makewhole wheat bread using the wheatberries from our wheat storage so here Ihave a five-gallon bucket and I believethis is from oh wait if you look on thefront here so this is the storage fortwo years but it will last up to 30years and I have it in a five-gallonbucket with a mylar bag and I mean hereyou can see these are my gooseberriesare those I didn’t fit in there and Ilike to leave this one right next to myweak binder that way I can just grab acouple put it in my wheat grinder andgrind the weak now you can if you don’thave a wheat grinder you can use ablender although it evenly use a blenderit will be a little bit more coarse I’llshow you how to get through that and inthe meantime this is the wheat that I’vealready round up and this is the weekthat we’re going to use right now justsee it’s nice and powdery and it’s realsimple to use this all you do is you putyour wheat in it and you adjust it hereto get the coarseness you wantokay so there should be enough thatwe’re going to be using but this is aCountry Living Mills week grinder it’s amanual one and I like to have as manymanual items as I can in case theelectricity goes out so I prefer usingthe manual grinder and this is one ofthe best on the market I always tellpeople you can always tell them you havea good product as when you go on a Bayand you can’t find the used one then youknow you’ve got a good product ok so nowlet’s make the bread ok this breadrecipe is my recipe and I’ve made a manyloaves of bread until I came up with arecipe that I liked and my family likedso first I want to talk about here’s myground meat right herenow here’s my flour that’s been instorage for about two years and yearsago when they first started runningflowers and bleaching it there wasn’tany nutritional value but after a whileafter they ground it down so the Foodand Drug Administration said well youneed to start fortifying this flour andbread and stuff so there’s somenutritional value so they started doingit so all your flour has already beenfortified let’s show you right here andthe label and if you can read that righthere you’ll see that the flour has beenfortified to give it some nutritiousnutritional value okay so this thisflower right here is gonna store for twoyears and I want to show you that’s goodI can’t flour that I’ve used it’s beenin storage for three years and it’sperfectly fine and if you store thisproperly it’s good up to five years andsometimes longer thanks so much and I’llmake some part of this no loops in mybags and you can see this is nice andhardpaying the flowers perfectly good nowone thing that you’re going to want todo when your flowers get in storage fora few years when you take it out you’regoing to want to sift it because it willclump together but I’ll break up realeasy and it’s nice and fresh but youwill want to sift it right with you I’llcooking with it okay and so I have someprecip deflower over here already andthen we’re going to make the breakhere I have my flush bread mixer which Iabsolutely loveI love KitchenAid but when I sound thisBosch I felt this is the best thing whenit comes to making bread or anythingcakes or what have you because it alwaysgets all the ingredients from the bottomit doesn’t leave any kind so I reallylike that so what we’re going to do hereis we’re going to take four and a halfcups of regular flour okayand in that flour I’m going to add oneand a half cups of whole wheat these arehalf cups so this equals one half cupsokay next I’m going to put in my secretingredients at honeybell you can getdough conditioner now when you go to thegrocery store you get that the breadfrom the grocery store it’s nice andfluffy and you make great sandwicheswith it and it stays really nice wellthat’s usually it’s because it’s beenconditioned so here we have some doughconditioner and I also use wheat glutenyour wheat gluten right here this isfrom honey ville – now this is going toraise the protein level on your breadand what you want to do with the wheatgluten is you want to add one tablespoonturfed one cup of flour so I have sixcups of flour there but in this recipeI’m only going to use three tablespoonsof leave nowthis wheat gluten from honey ville it’sgood up to 10 years stores so it lasts areally long time – trust me you’ll gothrough it before the ten years are up Ialways do next I have the dough enhancerand this helps makes you Brad reallyfluffy it keeps it fresher longer andyou don’t have to use it this is myrecipe this is what I use all the timeand in this one you’re going to want touse one teaspoon per cup so I’m going touse six beats okay and now I’m going toput one teaspoon of saltinside my dresses now you never want toput the salt in with your yeast youalways want to put the salt in with yourdry mixes okay and we’re gonna put thisin here okay now I’m going to preparethe yeast so what I have is two cups ofpre-made powdered milk you can useregular milk I always just pile them upbecause I try to use the items in mypantry and so I’m going to take thispowder mouth and I’m going to heat itfor two minutes in my microwave I knowthat’s a little on the hot side butthere’s a reason for thatI want my sugar to really melt and toreally dissolve and then I’ll let itcool put my yeast inside so I’m gonnaput this in the microwave for twominutes okay I’ve taken the amount outof the microwave it was in there for twominutes and you can see it’s stillsteaming a little bit so what I’m goingto do is I’m going to put four tablesfromof sugar into this hot milk and like Isaid the reason I’m doing this isbecause I really want my sugar to bedissolved before I put my yeast inbecause my the liquid sugar is gonnafeed that yeast now instead of puttingwhite sugar in you can use maple sugaryou can use dates sugar you can usehoney and you can use molasses it’s allup to youokay I’m gonna stir this up really goodand I will let this melt pull down untilI can put my yeast in now you don’t wantthe melted bit too hot before you putyour least in or it will kill the yeastjust like when you make yogurt so we’regonna pull this down and when it’s morenot a little warm warm not hot just likebest water warm that’s when you’re gonnawant to put your they stink okay so waitwhen do is you put your finger in thereit it’s nice nice and big water warm nothot so that’s the perfect time right nowto put our yeast in yeah I’m going touse to heat these service films pleasedand I know a lot of people say theydon’t use that much but I’m telling youthis works really good I use two heapingtablespoons of yeast just like thatnow you want to make sure when you storeyour yeast if you store it in therefrigerator after you put the lid on itreally tight okay but if you keep it inthe freezerit also stretches the shelf life let’sstir this up real good and you have tostir it up real goodthe other trick you let that set for 10minutes exactly 10that so I was good time around becausethat if you take it too soon and you putit in with your flower it’s going totake a really long time for your breadto rise but if you leave this in theirnetwork warm water for exactly tenminutes your breads gonna rise within anhour and a half to two hours just likethat but if you don’t you can see fourhours later your bread really hasn’tdulled so you really need to let thisset for ten minutes okaywhile are used to setting what I’m goingto do is I’m going to turn on the mixerjust to mix our dry ingredients around[Music]
