So here in the UK we are entering our 3rd week of lockdown. As we should all know by now, the world is currently facing a crisis the likes of which my generation in this country, has never seen before. It’s a time now where we all need to pull together and look after each other to beat this thing. Now I stumbled across this recipe a few days ago on how to make bread with just 2 ingredients. I was sceptical at first so I did a test run, and to my surprise it worked! I actually made bread with two ingredients! Now I converted the recipe into metric, from this one here https://www.recipegirl.com/2-ingredient-bagels/ if you want to check out her full detailed recipe.

Now there are some caveats with this 2 ingredient bread. This isn’t going to be a light, fluffy cloud like bread that’s you’d use for a nice sandwich, but it certainly has it’s place on the dinner table. This two ingredient bread would be a great accompaniment to soups, stews, casseroles or anything that is crying out for bread to be dipped into it. I think these would also be nice halved, lightly toasted then topped with clotted cream and Jam. You also want to make sure you use the right Greek yoghurt for this. None of that Greek ‘style’ stuff, because it’s too runny for this recipe. You want proper Greek yoghurt that’s thick almost like cream cheese. Fage is the brand I used and it worked a treat.

hi guys and welcome back to anotherinstallment in my pantry Democrat apieceseries that’s hot today we’re gonna maketwo ingredient bread now before I getinto this video I should remindeverybody I stay reminding we should allknow what’s going on by now it’s cornyApril 2020 the world is going through aglobal crisis the likes of my generationhave never seen before so I’m going toremind you again please follow yourrespective governments advice for us inthe UK we’re on lockdown so that meanswe can only go out for essential itemsto and from work if we can’t work fromhome exercise once a day keep watchingyour hands and if you do have to go outkeep two metres apart right so onto thebread now this is a really simple breadto make and I was a bit kind of dubiousat first I was on Facebook looking atgroup and someone posted a picture ofthis bread they used only twoingredients and I was like I want togive that a tryso as to personally posted it they sentme the recipe and this is it and does itwork well yes it does how do I knowbecause I made some of the other dayadmittedly I did scorch the bottoms abit you can see they’re a little bitdark but that’s my own fault I hadn’tgot any baking parchment so I put themon tin foil which obviously transmitsheat so of course they’re gonna burn butactually that bit was quite nice it’slike a really nice toasty flavor but youcan see bread that’s actual breadalright that’s what we’re gonna make solet’s crack on with it I’ll show youwhat to do again if you look down belowin the description you can get all theingredients that you need if you getyour face down here I’ll show you whatto do[Music]right so these are our two magicalingredients that we’re going to make ourbread with we’ve got Greek yogurt andwe’ve got soap raising flour yes we’vegot salt but listen everyone’s got saltso just kind of use that as a given buta little bit of advice with the Greekyogurt make sure you buy the properstuff none of this Greek style yogurtbecause it’s a bit too runny and notwhat we need for this recipe the realstuff kind of looks like cream cheeseit’s nice and thick that’s the stuff youneed apart from that this is all we needso I’m going to do now it’s just weighthese all up so we can mix it up into adough okay so got my flour weighed outI’m going to pop that into a mixing bowlnow I have halved the recipe from what Iput in the description and the reasonfor that is it’s because I needed totest this out first to see if it workedso I’ve half the recipe for today butwhen you make it it’s going to makeabout eight rolls as opposed to fourtoday and I’ve also got my Greek yogurthere now this is a 500 gram tub I usedhalf of it for the first time so I knowthere’s enough in there well wait beforewe do that I want out some salt don’t weabout a teaspoon in there and the Greekyogurt to the flour of course what Ishould have done this mix the salt intothe flour to start with before startedmixing in the yogurt but never mindso anyway what you want to do is getyour spatula and just kind of mix it upuntil it forms a very loose claggy sortof doughit may look really dry now but trust meit comes together so just keep workingit for a bit okay so we’ve got a niceloose craggy dough there and before Ikind of tip them out I’m just going tolightly dust our work surface and thenjust tick the whole thing out and whatyou’re going to do is just kind of bringit together just like so pick up allthat loose flour we’re not reallyneeding this like a traditional breadwhat we’re trying to achieve here is tojust bring it all together into a nicesmooth dough so you don’t need to go madwith it you might need to add a bit moreflour if it starts to go a bit toosticky so I’m just gonna work this for acouple of minutes and then I’ll show youthe next bit right so I’ve kneaded thedough for a couple of minutes this isthe end resultagain you don’t need to need it for agesand ages so nice soft dough I’m notgoing to do is cut that into four butremember if you’re making the fullrecipe you’re going to need to make itinto eight so half and then half andthen so on and so on but I’m only makingfour rolls so I’m only gonna make itinto four pieces amazing that in it andjust lightly dust them are we gonna dois just form them into little balls likea bread roll sighs so I’m going to crackon with the rest of these we’ll finishthem off with some egg wash and we canbang them in the oven all right so I’vegot the dough in a tray here now ifyou’ve got baking parchment just usethat all right I’ve got an e so I’ve hadto kind of improvise and I’ve justlightly dusted a roasting tray with someflour and what I’ve got here is one egglightly beaten with a pinch of salt andwhat the salt does is it breaks up thewhite which means it’s less or gloopy ifyou haven’t got egg you can use somemelted butter or just a brush of milk aswell and at this stage you can kind ofmake them your own you can jazz them upas much as you want you can add someseeds on there fennel seeds poppy seedssesame seeds anything really so nowthey’ve got the egg wash on they can goin the oven now you want to bake themoff for about 20 to 30 minutes alldepends on your oven really about gasmark 5 I’ll put the conversion up on thescreen now now you’re not going to see alot of rising them they’re not going tosort of swell up to these nice big sortof bread rolls but you are going to seea slight bit of lift and once you bakethem off you want to put them on a wirerack or a plate just to cool down toroom temperature before we can eat them[Music][Applause][Music]so the thread is done I’ve cooled itdown just a room temperature still alittle bit warm so I’m going to do nowlet’s just smother some butter on itbecause what is bread without butter sowe have it let’s give it a tastebut it’s so impressive honestly now thisis all play-acting obviously because Imake these before I know exactly whatthey like but you know you’ve got tokind of judge it up a bitmmm it has to be said bread made withtwo ingredients I’m impressedreally I’m impressed it’s got a slightchew to it almost like a bagel slightlydenser but it’s still real light at thesame time and I think that’s the yogurtthere are some caveats with this breadthough I wouldn’t recommend making asandwich out of it it’s a little bit tooheavy obviously when you have a sandwichyou want a nice light fluffy bread sothis is going to work really wellsomething like a soup Edieexcuse me something like a soup a stewcasserole you could sort of dunk it init’s going to soak up all the nicejuices and it’s gonna be really nice butsomething like a bacon sandwich mmm Idon’t think so I think it’d be quitenice toasted under the grill with somebutter some nice jam on it a bit like ascone but absolutely cracking littlebread to make it’s got some self raisingflour kicking around some Greek yogurtyou can make it not sure to say thatthis isn’t my recipe as such I didconvert it into metric and sort ofchange the measurements just slightlyjust to fit in with how we do things inthe UK but if you want to read about itsee the full recipe go along to the linkin the description
