hello and welcome to reading health with
Gerry angle vinda if you new to this
channel this channel is about navigating
life and our wellness journey as you can
see we’re why they can’t fire tonight
and we have a little special treat so
I’ve been wanting Bannock red for some
time and some of you may know Banach
bread I had it as a child on a school
trip and I have thought about it over
the years many times it was introduced
to me as a native indigenous food but as
I’ve done a little research it seems
that it’s actually been brought from
Scotland so who knows if you know the
real origin of Bannack bread which was
originally cooked on a banach stone and
please leave that in the comments
Govinda made some for us last week in a
cast-iron pan and it turned out amazing
it was way more delicious than I could
have imagined we’re using gluten-free
flour so we weren’t sure how it was
gonna turn out but it was great so now
he’s going instead of using a cast-iron
pan we have a good ol stick and we got
this stick actually in Prince Edward
Island on the shore and I actually
picked this stick up for some for some
jewelry that I make but we’re gonna use
it today for making the bread so this is
our first time making it so so where we
are here at a campsite so there might be
some sound in the background
and you know we lost beauty we made it
you know we were talking about change
and how do you adapt and you know we had
a car going by then all of a sudden the
battery died so and it’s a good thing we
didn’t have the bread on while the
battery died so we could that’s we
really want to show you how it turns out
for our first time so the ingredients
are very simple what are the greetings
and free flour baking powder and we
already mixed this up before we left
home okay it’s a couple of weeks ago now
and just a little bit of olive oil we’re
gonna post the recipe and you should
have water and that’s it that’s it
simple I did see some recipes where you
could add cinnamon raisins make sure
they fancy it up but this is the basic
recipe and you just mix it up into adult
play-doh like consistency so don’t add
too much water you can only a little at
a time and mix it in make sure the fire
is going good and some people call this
fry bread you can like we decided last
time the first time we get it I’m gonna
did it in the cast-iron pan
you can also bake it in the oven I think
those are the three ways that I’ve seen
people do it we have a chimenea back
home so we’re thinking of a way that we
can do it in there Custer traditionally
I guess I wasn’t done on a stone so I
think we could do it a little close up
here oh yeah yeah you could tell it it’s
all sticking together it’s all like
play-doh you kind of flatten it then I
want to kind of make it like a snake
take your snake yeah
see how this works out keep the stick
that hot not piping hot
but just one so I don’t cook from the
little bit from the inside yeah starting
this in and go around
alright so okay it was a little
technical difficulties there but we we
got it all the way around so the part
about a video link you could actually
edit things out we had although you
wrapped around patience this he’s a
great marshmallow roaster so so we’re
gonna let this roast for a minute and
then we’ll show you how it turns out
keep turning just like the marshmallow
we’ll be back so we have some fresh
bread on the barbie it’s a bit about ten
dot ten minutes we had some minor
difficulties um the sim card filled up
we’re getting there I need to tell the
light has changed
it’s only been 10 minutes that we’ve
been cooking it though you know you got
to always realize if this is our first
time doing it
the second time will be a lot better
maybe I’ll add a little bit more oil
next time because we found that one
piece kind of fell off it looks pretty
good from here
I’m going to try in the first piece it’s
a little hot look it’s done comes right
off
very job so this is how you could have
fresh toasted bread right next to your
fire so we hope you enjoy we’re gonna
put your recipe there please like and
