Cooking in Quarantine: Bread Pudding

Easy Bread Pudding
1 Quart Hops or 1 Loaf Sliced Bread (one day old)
¼ c Butter
2 ½ cups Carnation Evaporated Milk
¼ c Granulated Sugar
3 Eggs
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
¼ tsp Salt
¼ c Raisin or Chocolate Chips (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a 8” square baking dish
2. Soften butter and use it butter each slice of bread. For hops, cut in half and butter the inside. Cut buttered bread into squares and pour into greased dish
3. Make custard by whisking together milk, egg, sugar, cinnamon, essence and salt in a bowl
4. Transfer bowl to heavy bottom pan or sauce pot. Turn heat on low and gently warm custard, whisking constantly until thickened. Be careful not to cook the eggs
5. Pour custard into bread and mix well. Top with raisins or chocolate chips
6. Bake at 350F for 30 mins. Allow to cool before cutting
