Poha is an Indian dish prepared in the Indian states of Maharashtra, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Telengana, Karnataka, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Poha tends to be spicy. Poha Originated from Maharashtra (Called Kande pohey)http://maharashtrian-recipes-online.com/kande-pohe-maharashtrian-breakfast-recipe/ and Odisha (Called Chuda Santula). Poha is made of processed flattened rice, roasted with chilies, onions, mustard and cumin seeds and curry leaves (called Kadi-patta). It is a high carbohydrate, low fat, quick meal that can be made in minutes. Pohay is easily available in most tea shops (amrutul-lyas) and other restaurants.

INGREDIENTS

7-8 pieces of Brown bread
1 small onion chopped
1 small Tomato, chopped
1 bowl peanut
3-4 pieces of Curry leaves
1 small Chopped green Chilies
1.5 tablespoon Oil
1-2 teaspoon Lemon Juice
SPICES
1/8 teaspoon Turmeric OR Haldi
1/4 teaspoon Chili flakes
1/4 teaspoon sanbher masala
1/4 teaspoon garam masala
Salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS
Assemble all the ingredients.
Cut bread into squares. If you like you can slightly toast the bread and then chop it. Set it aside.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and when they start to sputter add chopped onions, and saute for 1-2 minutes until onions are translucent
Add in peanut and saute for a minute. Finally add in chopped tomatoes and mix it well.
Mix until well blended.
Cover and cook until veggies are tender , 3-4 minutes, if need be sprinkle some water.
Once veggies are tender….
Add in chopped bread pieces.
Mix and take it off the flame.
add lemon juice and mix
Serve hot with a cup of hot tea.
