Hellohello my friends its Nina welcometoday we are bakingtoday I was in a baking moodand I decided I’m going to make banana breadI have a bunch of bananas. They are about to gorecently I went grocery shopping, safelyand while I was grocery shoppingI figured I should actually get baking ingredientsSo I could bake instead of wishing that I could bake and seeing everyone else bakeSo although I’m picking banana bread and although I have all the ingredientsThe only problem to this entire situation is that I don’t have a loaf paninstead of a loaf pani’m bringing this bad boy outit’s actually not cleanI’m going to quickly wash thisit’s all clean now, but this is what I’m going to be baking withWe’re basically going to make mini banana muffinsare banana muffins and banana bread the same recipe?they should bewhile I bake I also decided I’m going to do a Q&AI haven’t done a Q&A in a very long timeI asked you guys for your questions on Instagrama couple weeks backand then I forgot about itBut then ya’ll reminded me about itso that’s why we’re doing that todayAm I good at multitasking?Not reallybut we’re going to make this happenwithout further delayLet’s make some banana breadSo first off I’m going to read out the ingredients for the recipethis recipe calls for 2 cups of flour1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder1 teaspoon salt 2 eggs 1 cup of sugar 4 ripe bananas1 teaspoon vanilla1/2 a cup of vegetable oil and one teaspoon cinnamon.I realized I don’t have tablespoons or teaspoonsI’m going to make do with two sizes of spoons.Also, another thing. I don’t have vegetable oilI have olive oil but this is very extra light.This is ideal for frying cooking and bakingI also read online that some people use olive oilin their recipes for baking. they say gives a nice flavorThis is extra light. I don’t think there should be a problembut I’m going to get started nowI’m going to wash my handsi believe in myselfI think this will work outanother thing about using a miniature muffin panis that it will actually bake fasterthe actual recipe says to bake for an hourwhich I don’t have the time forbut with that we only have to bake for 10 to 15 minutesso I think I’m doing something hereLet’s do thisI technically should tie my hair, but I don’t have a scrunchieSo we’re going to preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheitnot Celsius, that’d be extremely hotThis is the first time I’m using this ovennot the stoveI use the stove every daybut the oven I actually haven’t used it yethopefully nothing goes wrong.i don’t know how to use thisbakestart. i think I did it.So in a medium bowl combine the flour baking soda baking powder and saltplsthis won’t openOnce I get you to oPeN UP-my dog is up and aboutshe took a napI’m going to get two cups of flourThe oven’s done preheatingThere’s flour all over the airI actually used to like baking. It’s just latelyI haven’t had the time to do itwhen I was younger when I was like 17 18I really loved bakingI would make macarons. I would make cookiesand now I’m back to being a beginnerI think that’s a good cup.You can’t even see what I’m doingone more cup of flourtwo cupsI can actually-I can put the flour awayone teaspoon of baking soda baking powder.This is not technically a teaspoonBut if I can remember what a teaspoon looks like, I can wing thisThat’s, this isn’t working.Is this a teaspoon? I’ll say that it isthere’s no going back nowand we’ve got a teaspoon of baking powderMore. there we goone teaspoon saltI have this salt. I’m just gonna go for it as wellWell, this is the bad idea. I’m put in hereThat should be goodI’m actually kind of nervousI didn’t really measure out the teaspoonsand baking soda and baking powder is kind of the chemistry part of bakingthe thing that makes everything work and reacti really hope this worksand then once this is togetherI can get into the wet ingredients.So how are you guys doing this fine afternoon?ah i seeI’m just realizing this might make a lot of banana bread actuallyactually I’m going to be having a lot of mini muffinsI think a good thing about this is that you can pop them in the freezerand they can last for a good while andYou can just reheat them again.My mind is just so big.i’m kind of nervousI want to know how big a teaspoon is.I used thisThis is really flati don’t know broI don’t think you can go wrong putting too much right?I feel like it’ll go wrong if it’s not enoughif it’s too much, it tastes bitterreally?yeaI’m so nervous.Now. I’m moving on to the wet ingredientsMaybe I should have tied my hairin a large bowl cream together the eggs and sugaron a flat surfacepeople like to do it on the edge of the bowland that’s not really safe to doeggshells can get inside the eggthen one more egga whole cup of sugar, oh my goshit’s so much sugarbut this is also a sweet recipeI should have knownwe’re going to put in 1 cup sugaroh no (nina)is that even safe to consumein goes the sugarI’m now going to cream thisNever mindnow that that’s doneI should have mashed my bananas first.I don’t have another bowlIt’s okayThis just means I have to do dishes which is fine.I have a bowl hereI’m going to mash up some bananasonce you open itThat smell is very strongin goes one bananathree more to go.We have our bananas. We’re going to mash themactually before I get into that I’m just going to put in the rest of the wet ingredients before I forgetso a teaspoon of vanillathis is brand new vanillaI’m gonna put in a good amount.that should be goodthe cinnamon also calls for a teaspoonI like how everything is actually easy to rememberEverything’s a teaspoon 1/2 a cup 1 cup or two cups.I also can’t really measure thisSo I’m just going to eyeball itin Asian cooking, we don’t use measurements.we use our intuitionThat should be goodhere’s the mixtureand then finally 1/2 a cup of oilthere is a half cup going inI’m going to get started on the Q&A.The first question is any languages you want to learn apart from Koreanand any sites you recommend for using Korean?So as you guys know I am korean-americanbut I don’t speak Korean that wellnow I’m kind of almost intermediateI would thinkI can kind of speak in conversations nowBut there’s a whole lot of vocabulary that I still need to learnso that I just sound more proficientthe things that I can say in Korean are very simplebut apart from learning KoreanI also do want to learn JapaneseI tried studying the Japanese characters, but it’s a little bit difficultBut I would like to get back into that when I canother languages I want to learnI want to get back into SpanishI took Spanish classes for 3 years in high school, and then I took a course in collegeI feel like I’m better at Korean than I am with Spanish nowwhich is saying somethingmaybe eventually even Frenchyou guys as my viewers are very internationaland so I just want to learn a lot of languagesHopefully I get better at Korean so I can move onand any sites that I recommend for koreanI’ve mentioned it a lot in these videos in the pastbut I use howtostudykorean.comI used to use talk to me in KoreanThose are the top two that I usenext question is how do you overcome social anxiety while in college?senior in high school going next yearSo college was very fast-pacedyou’re kind of just like expected to catch up and keep upsometimes I feltoverwhelmed especially because a lot of timesyou would have to work with people that you literally have never metso you kind of were expected to be strongand be able to be in these situationsThey want people that are able to adapt to whatever placewhatever situationpeople who can take on a leadership roleor people who can take part in group things big thingsso the setting of college is already just overwhelmingi personally went through a lot of growthand so by the time that I was able to apply for college aftercommunity college and transferI was much more sure of myselfBut there were a lot of times where we had toparticipate in discussions with new peopleand actually looking group projects with people you never metthe way that I dealt with it isI really just had to be the one to tell myself that I’m going to be okayand remind myself that everyone is kind of just there to get through itno one’s really judging me or trying to be meanor anything like thatoopsbattery’s about to diemy social anxiety stems fromfeeling like people are going to judge what I’m sayingor that I’m going to say the wrong thingso I had to kind oflearn to tell myself that people are not judging youwhich is kind of true, especially in big lecture settingsYou see pretty much new people every single dayand in a college settingeveryone’s really busythat they don’t really have time to kind of think about youbut someone has to be there to tell yourself that you’re going to be okayand that person has to be youI have to remember to breathe in breathe outI remember to keep an approachable faceWhich basically just means a smileyou don’t have to go through great lengths to change yourself or anythingBut I realized that a little smile just makes the other person feel comfortable.That’s what I learnedI have a video on how I dealt with social anxiety and all thatbut it really is aboutbeing a friend to yourself and telling yourself that things will passpeople are temporaryeveryone kind of comes and goes.We’re all just busy.Don’t sweat it too much.College was a very fast-paced kind of overwhelming settingbut that’s kind of what I signed up forwhich is kind of sad because it’s likeanyone who can’t really deal with thatkind of gets left out, which sucksSo basically I had to fake it till I made it.I had to pretend that, oh, I’m good at working in groupsI’m good at meeting people for the first timeI’m good at holding conversationsI kind of had to lie to myselfand eventually it kind of became a truthI eventually did become better at having a leadership roleespecially when I worked in groupsI would kind of take the initiative sometimesso my best advice is just faking it til you make itYou’d be surprised but a lot of people are feeling the same way that you dogoing through the same things as youFeeling the same waysbut we just pretend that we’re okayand that we’re doing well.There’s something kind of comforting in thatbut yea be a friend to yourselfAll these negative thoughts can pile on top of each other and thenyou lose yourself and then you really panic and feel anxiousRemember to go on to yourself and just make sure that you’re goodDon’t forget to breatheIt’s a whole topic, but I explained it in another videoI’m going to put in the banana. Did you see that?This looks promising.Next question is what do you do when you feel unmotivated?When I feel unmotivatedI try to take things slow and do one thing at a time.I will start out with my morning routineSometimes I don’t feel like putting on makeupBut that doesn’t mean I can’t do my skincare and wash up andtake care of myself that wayafter I do my skincareI will try to do something else.Maybe I’ll tidy up my roomor start my laundryJust one simple small little task will kind of lead to anotherI also remember to relaxbecause you don’t have to be doing something all the timeYou don’t have to be productive all the timeYou don’t have to be doing something at all timesSometimes you just need a breakSometimes you just need to restand that can be very healingdo something that you lovewhether that’s playing a video gamewatching a movielistening to some songsdo something that makes you happyI think the most important thing ismaking sure that you’re taking care of your healthwhether that’s physical or mentalIt’s hard to kind of do anything when you’re not feeling goodThat’s why I personally like to tidy up my environment because that makes me feel betterEven if it’s hard to dopersonally for me I just know that’s going to make me feel betterif my space is less clutteredthat can be as simple as throwing away trashor making your bedand then don’t forget to do hobbiesDon’t forget to do things you likethat can be very productive becauseyou’re taking care of yourself by making yourself happierRemember to eat remember to drink waterstay hydrated.That’s kind of what I do when I’m not feeling motivatedI just realized sometimes I need a breaksometimes I need to restSometimes I need to actually feel better before I do something elseby the way I’m just slowly adding in the dry mixturejust slowly because you don’t want to overwhelm the mixtureI’m putting in the rest of the flour, we’re almost there.We’ve got a nice cohesive mixtureI’m now going to spoon this mixture inI am first going to wash my hands.going to spray it six inchesthat was too much.This is actually nonstick so I don’t know why I’m doing this butprecautionI’m going to just take a paper towel and kind of mix it all in thereif you can see it I am spooning the mixture into this pan.How are you named Nina?Great question.So my dad was actually a bit of a gamer back in the dayHe loved the game tekkenHe used to participate in Tekken tournaments and all thatSo I am actually named after a character in the video gameThere is a character named Nina, Nina WilliamsAnd that’s where my name came fromAnd a fun fact is that my little brother who is a year younger than meHis name is Jinnot Jin from BTS.But his name comes from Jin KazamaWho is also a Tekken characterYou can kind of see the pattern hereand then I have a baby brother who is 13.5 years younger than meand his first name’s actually not from a game characterBut his Korean name Hwoarangis based on a tekken characterso that is the origin of meI also just think my parents thought the name is cute.I think so tooThey did wellif it’s not too invasive have you ever been in our relationshipI have notI have never had a partnerand that’s okay.It’s not something I ever really sought outAnd so that’s why I’m like thisit also requires socializing and getting yourself out therewhich I don’t really have the biggest interest inwould I be open to a relationship though?Maybebut I like being on my own scheduleand also social distancingthe batter is actually all gone guysHere is the batter up closeI didn’t fill out a row because I ran out of batterI have my mitts on we’re going to do thisi’m going to just slide it inthere we goBake my friendsthe banana bread is inpolo come to meHelloYou smell the bananaHimarco also wanted to say hi. HelloAfter about a minute, I remembered to set up the timer.I set it for 12 minutesSo in total should be about 13 minutes when it’s doneuh oh they’re rising a lotI’m nervousI should have maybe filled them less.They’re going to be like boooopso getting back to the Q&AHow did I get my start on YouTubeAnd what’s your favorite thing about being on the platform?I just liked YouTube.I would watch it all the timeever since i got social media, which was 2013I got my first smartphone in around 2013So I wasn’t always on the internetand then I found YouTube andI found all these vloggers and youtubersAnd was interested in the content, I felt less lonelyIt was kind of fun to watchand eventually I was just like I kind of want to do it as wellI really didn’t think of it as anything seriousat the time I didn’t even know about monetizationor anything like thatI didn’t really have a dream to be a youtuberI just wanted to do it for fun.I was, I don’t even know how old I was. I was sixteen seventeenAnd so I just put up videos for fun.They were literally for funI would just do tags and challenges with my friendsand then eventually around 2016 or 2017it’s started to pick up a little bit for some reasonpeople were more interested and invested in the videos that I madea lot of them really just didn’t make sense eitherThey would just be like little clips or film, short film projectsthen I started thinking about making more serious contentand it just went from thereI am incredibly thankfulthat anything ever really happened with my channeland the fact that I have an audienceand I think that is what I love the most abouthaving a YouTube channeland my favorite thing about being on the platform is that I have you guys that I have friendsbut when I started I really didn’t think of it as anythingI didn’t even think that I would do YouTube for so longwhen I was in community collegeI actually started to think about maybe not continuing itnot something like dramaticbut I was very inactive and I didn’t really-it just wasn’t a consistent thingso I thought I would just like kind of disappearthis was back when I had maybe 20,000 subscribers or soBut then some of my videos would take off and I just kept going with thatSo it really is kind of like strange to think that I almost didn’t keep going with this.It wasn’t anything dramaticIt was just like oh, I don’t really, you know, I’m going to college.I’m about to transfer to UC BerkeleyI’m going to be busy things like thatBut I just vlogged my life at UC Berkeley and other thingsI got into fashion videos and other thingsand took it more seriouslyand it just went from thereI think the most important thing about itis just having interest in itand knowing what kind of content you want to put upand just being your genuine selfbecause if you’re being your real selfand if you’re making and that you actually care aboutthen it’s all it’s kind of naturalSo that’s just kind of how it all happened.Timer is up.I am going to check on the muffinsThey roseI think I did okayThey look good.Also another thing I want to mentionif you want to add nuts or chocolate chips orany kind of fillingtopping, other ingredientsgo right aheadbut I just made my plain because I wanted to see how it actually turned outomg they’re so cuteI’m going to take a toothpickand I’m going to stab one of theseif it comes out clean that means it’s doneI can’t tell if that’s clean.I mean it doesn’t feel, it feels dry inside.I took one outit’s hot it’s hot it’s hotI took one out oh my god it’s hotI took one out. I was always an artistic personI liked drawing. I liked writing stories.I liked making up scenarios and things like thatI liked making skitsand just entertaining people in those kinds of wayseven if I was very timid and reservedI liked creating something and YouTube was just that platformand even what I studied in collegeMedia Studiesand almost film studiesI still always was interested in that creative process andcreating things for people to watchbecause I love media I consume itI learn from it I engage with itwe all engage with itmedia is the way it is nowand it’s meaningful and it’s big because of people’s participationbecause people care about these videospeople share these videosnot just videos but music movies TV showsanything we share it and we engage with itand that’s why it’s so big and meaningfulbecause we make meaning out of itand that’s always been something interesting to me.So that’s why I think naturally with YouTubeI just kept going with it because it was naturally something that I lovedI think naturally everything just fell into placebut I did not expect the audience that I have nowand it’s just really coolI’m very thankful.Do I dislike my past self?
