A simple way to bake artisan bread at home. This is so so easy with very minimal ingredients and active working time.
Ingredients:
Flour 840g
Warm water 590g
Yeast 6.5g
Sugar 16.5g
Salt 20g
Methods:
-Mix warm water, yeast and sugar into the bowl and let it prove to up to a minute
-Pour about 3/4 of the flour & salt and mix to turn it into a shaggy dough.
-Pour more flour as needed and mix. (the dough should have a bounce to it, not too sticky and not too hard)
-Turn it out on the floured bench top to knead
-Make sure everything is incorporated and the dough is nice and spongy.
-Pour it back in the bowl, cover with towel and let it rise for about 30 mins
-Turn it out onto the flour counter, use the rolling pin to flatten and portion it into two loaves by cutting in half and then rolling the dough and tucking the sides in.
-Transfer into the cooking sheet lined with baking paper
-Let it rise for another 20 mins and pre heat the oven at 200C
-Baste the top with Egg wash and score the dough and bake for 20-30 minutes
-Flip the bread and knock on it, if it sounds hollow, it’s done.
-Let the bread rest for at least to room temperature before slicing
