This video is from the end of last month. I was moved by the autumnal spirit and made an apple pie. It was not the prettiest, and the crust dough was store-bought, but it was delicious and there was no soggy bottom. So a win.
I was watching Gilmore Girls while making this pie and Emily Gilmore has always reminded me of my late grandmother, Dorothy (affectionately known as ‘Dottie’ to her loved ones). It’s been over eight years since we lost her. And her loving second husband, my paternal grandfather, Charles, “Charlie”, passed away at the beginning of September this year.
I’ll always fondly remember holidays at their house growing up. Grandma Dottie, usually in the kitchen, making the house smell delicious, and usually with an apple pie outback, cooling on the porch because it was my favorite.
