Shane was born with a neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy that requires him to use an electric wheelchair. He is the author of several award-winning books, the President of a nonprofit organization called Laughing At My Nightmare, and a renowned public speaker who has performed across the country at places such as Harvard University, The University of Florida, The University of Connecticut, Princeton University, and many more.

Hannah just graduated from Carleton College, where she studied Sociology and Anthropology. Her future aspirations include attending graduate school and owning a goat sanctuary. She films and edits the “Squirmy and Grubs” vlog.

Shane and Hannah have been dating for 3+ years and living together in Minneapolis for a year. On June 15th, 2019 they got engaged!!!! Their interabled relationship often confuses people, because much of society still cannot fathom people with disabilities being involved in loving, intimate relationships. Anyone who watches these episodes will quickly see their relationship is just as “normal” as any other. Sure, Hannah helps Shane use the bathroom and brush his teeth, but those activities do not detract from the emotional, intellectual, and physical connection they experience together.

Shane’s gonna tell you about somethingthat he did know when you buy before Itell you about this I would like to saythat this is not my faultuh-huh okay and I have been interestedin making homemade bread pizza doughyeahvarious different recipes right we orderfrom the store today and they were outof yeast so I was looking online foryeast yep I found yeast that isavailable in the library in two daysWow rare and this climate data Oliviamm-hmm and I bought it did the price ofit deter you at all Shane I have neverpurchased used before and so theythought it was a commodity ready onlythought that went through my head was mylucky night Angela wants to make breadand give that sister joy been no caseyeah it’s too high for me to buy whatwas the price of the yeastwhat are you sure that well they shetalked about this stuff Oh maybe startwith the price and then go with the sizeis four dollars mm-hmm and then so shebought it he then asked me how muchyeast does the bread recipe require hewanted to make sure there was enough forhis pizza dough and the bread recipethat I had one so I looked at the breadrecipe and I told him it needs a quarterof a teaspoon his face dropped and Isaid what what is what’s the problem sohow much yeast you by Shan and and whatis the exact size of the package Junpounds in houses nice so he and I areI mean one of the Twin Cities if youneed actually anywhere in Minnesotareally well ship it if you and it willship the bread if anyone would like aloaf now we’ve never made bread it mightnot be good but we have two pounds atleast and each loaf takes a quarter of ateaspoon so it’s okay it’s okay I meanit was an honest mistakeI I genuinely thought that a loaf ofbread was like yeah like a cup of floura cup of yeast and you know that hugehouse would be like all right it’s okayin yeah I’m gonna make a lot of breadwe’ll deliver it to people was there asmaller bag you could have bought nookay okay all right we make bread now[Music]nope television you get out of make amoldwe couldn’t find parchment paperanywhere at the grocery store so we’regonna make them organic this episode ofthat punishment take there anyway I haveto make a meringue and the pancake mixI’m excited is there any juice in therecipe nope is there anybody said addthis to their yesterday I’m so sorryShea no yeast coming make guys used toitall right ingredients we have sugar cakeflour vanilla extract 2 eggs milk bakingpowder and two bowls no no I thinkShane’s gonna be throwing in his ownsupplementary instructions while I’mgoing over this recipe so feel free tocompletely ignore that or fast-forwardthrough those parts up to youalright first we’re gonna mix 1 egg yolkwith 2 tablespoons of sugar rememberthat when your video and egg yolk therapid ur their more rapidly there is awhisk it better yes that’s true and Ireally yeah I don’t go quicker if you ifyou remember you being a yo the gentlerand slower that you go to bed one eggyolk let’s see if I can do this this isa lot of pressure forget thesecond Bowl and then I crack the eggright with my hand ruin itthat’s so that’s so unfair noweveryone’s gonna think I don’t know howto do that Shane you realize that WowoK we’ve reset now we will separate theyolk from the whiteoh now I’m very upset you got it okayso far so good so far so goodall right so here we have a yoke andsome whites now I will put in twotablespoons of sugarnow you saw him doing it in here atleast I remember low-and-slowjust these little miss you can takethree four five dollars if you reallywanted to to get the consistency thatyou desireand this is why basically they’re so funthey’re not pointy because they havenothing else to be doing today I like torotate the listgently Spezia it just let it know I’mhere I’m concerned they’ve done I don’tfind a of it next you don’t just put it all inat onceoh I’m not putting it all in but Weineron the sifter so I’m just gonna put itlike a little one at a time and you cantell your mouth is in your ear sometimesI do I see mince it mmm nopenext we’re gonna whip the egg whites andwe’re gonna add in the sugar a little ata time until the meringue is perfecteverything that you just down in thefirst one is actually not even part ofthis recipethat’s just preparing it for disposal soyou can take that first ball dump it inthe garbage or if you have a jugglerjust puzzle dump it in the sinknope I know it’ll ruin this one[Music]egg whites are fluffy hope you can tellyeah until the glossy meringue is formedand I want stiff fish Peaks not stiffpeaks I believe it’s like stiff likenow and are those stiff peaks I haveliterally no idea never made this orstiff –is– stiff ish Peaks not stiffpeace okay recipe is getting a littlebit more complicated now I have to add athird of the meringue mixture into thebatter like whisking it until it’scompletely gone this is a high stageprocedure yep so if you need to take amoment to center yourselfjust under imagine yourself a surgeondummy under surgery because if youmessed up at this point everythingyou’ve done so far is a complete wasteno and you spent your whole morningtrying to do something that was set tofail from the beginning okay no that’sabout a third of it[Music]Shane what are you doing can I show themwhat I do you’ve showed everyone beforeall I want to show it againcan you help pull up my shirts I justnoticed that I had my tattoo is almostvisible meringue andmixed delicately literally this wellthis I mixed delicately the next one Ifold in extremely carefully so I thinkthis is like uh you know we’re goingdown a ladder here of how careful I needto be this is medium careful I know I’mmixing mixing mixing this it says addthe remaining ring and fold into themixture be careful not to deflate thebatter do you hear this particularlyyeah it’s puffy it is yeah literallyI’m terrified under the recipe she waslike it’s very hard to do thissuccessfully so don’t give up if yourfirst time as a failure no it won’tit’ll just be like it won’t be puffythey’ll be flat pancakes well I’ll showyou a photo Shane anything but flat ohmy god well how do I know when it’smixedI think that’s fine it’s folded in allright we’re gonna heat some oil in a panand then add a quarter cup scoop ofbatter the batter can also be eaten rawif you don’t want to actually make thepage just grab the spinning againnow we wait two to three minutes oh Ican see it taking shape is pop himit’s puffingnow I’m adding another quarter cup ontop of the batter that I’ve alreadycooked and then we’re gonna cover itokay I have to gently flip and it saysever so gently in all capital letters ohgoshthis doesn’t look oh my god Wow Wowflipped ever so gently James likerunning help no pass no ever so gentlyoh I did it I’m just gonna believe thatI’m just gonna leave it cover oh thatwas so dead I’m so impressed as yourflip I’m excited I was like the gentletouch of it still tarry dinner Oh Godthank you that was wonderfulThanks well I hope that the inside it’sdone I think it
