Aloha HCC Ohana,
This is the first rice bread video and in it, we make it with flour. The next rice bread video will be without flour.
As Hawaiians, we are accustomed to eating a lot of rice so we all have it on hand in our pantry. We wanted to explore some other things we could make with rice and we have so many more recipes to share with all of you. This bread was so soft and moist. It was almost like a Chinese rice cake but in bread form. We absolutely loved the taste of this. We paired it with beef stew and it was so scrumptious.
If you decide to make this let us know so we can see your delicious bread #HawaiianCanCook.
Stay safe HCC Ohana! Lots of Aloha from our Ohana to yours!!
ALSO—If there is a recipe that you would like us to make, leave your suggestions in the comments below, email us hcc808cooks@gmail.com or follow us on Instagram @hawaiian_can_cook and send us a DM. We would love to hear from you!
Always remember… Aloha and a good recipe, make a great meal!
This is not a sponsored video we just wanted to make some great food!
Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups of water
1/2 cup of rice
1 1/2 cups of warm water (add in cooked rice)
6 cups of AP flour divided ( 1 part 2 cups and 1 part 4 cups )
1 package quick-rise yeast ( 2 1/4 Tsp )
2 teaspoons of salt
Cooking Spray to coat pans before the dough goes in.
Instructions:
Add 1/2 cup of rice and 1 1/2 cups of water to a pot. On medium-high heat bring to boil.
Once boiling turn off heat and cover. Let sit for 20 minutes or until all the liquid is gone.
When your rice is completely cooked add in your 1 1/2 cups of warm water and stir well. We want the rice to loosen up a little before we add the flour.
Add 2 cups of flour and yeast and mix well. Cover with plastic and let rise for 1 hour.
Add 2 cups of flour and mix well. Turn dough out onto a heavily floured surface and need for 10 minutes. Keep adding the remaining 2 cups of flour until dough is no longer sticky.
Divide in half and prepare your bread pans.
Coat pan with cooking spray and add in your loaves. Cover with a towel and let rise for 20 minutes.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees Farenheight for 45 minutes until lightly browned.
This was our first attempt at this recipe and I think for future rice bread with flour I will do a few things differently.
I would add the yeast into the sugar water and bloom it first then add to all flour so this recipe could be a lot less time-consuming. I think I could get the same result if not better in less time and a lot less waiting.
