Thanks for joining us in this kitchen this weekend where 2.5 year old Hiro and Mom navigate the “ins and outs” of cooking with a toddler while sharing tips on how to optimize recipes to get that biggest nutrient “bang for your bite!” Grab your apron and join us fore this week we will explore healthy oatmeal raisin cookies (without any sugar or non-nutritive sweeteners!)
Ingredients:
2/3 cup of applesauce
1/3 cup of sunflower butter (or peanut butter)
2 ripe bananas
1.5 cups of oatmeal
1.5 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of vanilla extract
2 oz raisins (two mini boxes) – or chocolate chips if you prefer.
*Note – be sure to keep an eye out for nut butters/applesauce without added sugars when aiming to reduce the intake of added sugars.
Crush bananas and mix all of the ingredients together well. Place 8 spoon-fulls of your mix on a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve after cooling.
