hey everybody welcome back to preppymondayi’m sorry not preppy monday homemakermondayum as you can tell it’s definitely up abitlater today on monday and that’s becausetoday what we’re going to be doing is iwant to show you my go-to bread recipenow i did not come up with this i willlink it down below i just got off someblog on pinterest so i’ll link it but ilove this one because you don’t needyeast it’s like baking sodawater and flour and that’s it that’s notreally it but i need to look at it butyou get what i’m saying right likeit’s it’s simple it’s easy it’s quickand thenit’s done but it’s also one of thosebreadsthat i use it to make my husband’speanut butter jelly sandwichi love it in the morning with butter ilove it with the soup like it’s kind ofjust anall-rounder bread similar to sourdoughit doesn’t taste like sourdough but it’sthattype of a loaf so that’s what we’regoing to be doing todaylet’s get itokay so i went ahead and i pulled up therecipe on my laptop i’m think i’m gonnatry and keep you guys here i might moveyou around the kitchen a little bitbut the first thing i wanted to show youis that you need to actually have aheavy baking sheet so i’m going to grabthat[Music]and i just have this cropped in one andit’s not super heavy like i got it ataldi um i think for about five bucksbut it has you go ahead and put this inthe ovenand i have my rack not on the middlerackbut like just below it then you’re goingto go ahead andpreheat the oven to 375with the baking rack in there okayso now let’s go ahead and get ouringredients i also just really quicklywanted to show you this i’m so thankfulfor this setup that i’ve madethis is my baking bucket that i justkeep in my pantryso please excuse like any clutter youmight see because there is clutter inthis section we live inthe most tiny apartment you can imagineso we kind of have like a tiny housesituation going on withstuff under everywhere but if it worksit works it’s organizedanyways this is my baking setup this haspretty much everything i’m going to needfor this recipe along with my backupflour becausethis one ran out so i’ll be shiftingthat over todayokay so now i went ahead and i shiftedyou guys over to here here is my mixingbowl i hope you can’t hear the trash guyout there being super loudbut here’s my mixing bowl i’m going tobe using i’ll get everything ready inhere and then i’ll be transferring itonto a cutting board that you’ll see forkneadingall right so first thing we needis four cups of flouri’m gonna go ahead and bring these overherefour cups of flour let mehave an eye on my recipe while i do thisor else it’s gonna go very badlyvery quickly sothat’s my thought first thing mix thedry ingredients four cups of flouri’ve done this enough times it should besecond nature butlet’s be real it’s not yet oh i’m gonnaneed my aproni don’t always wear my apron which iswhy i forgot butwhen i’m working with flour i need to orelseit’s a bad situation i love this apron imade this apron a few years agoand i’m so proud of it still becauseit’s one of the firstthings that i ever sewed by myself likei’ve always kind of sewn with my mom alittle bit but this was one of the veryfirst things i ever madeby myself it wasn’t just like a potatosack dressbecause i had been sewing those butthis one i’m pretty proud of soanyways let’s get our four cups offlourokay finish off this back[Applause]let me know by the way if at some pointyou guys would like to seean apartment tour i’d be very willing todo that maybe give you guys some smallspaceorganization ideas becausei’m not sure but i think our apartmentisprobably at the verymost about 500 square feetlike and that’s really pushing it um butit’sactually this is an apartment that usedto be a housebut it’s funny actually my husband atsome pointwhen he was in high school he faked aseizure which i know isn’t funny but youknow what i mean it’swhen you’re in high school you do stupidstuff we all know that so he faked aseizureand got suspended and so to prevent hisparents from knowinghe came over here and his friendwas on spring break at the time hisfriend went to a different schoolso he helped his friend and their dadfix up thishouse and make it into an apartment sothe part that we live inis what used to be the upstairs and thencut in half theylike divided the upstairs into twolittleone bedroom apartments so our livingroomyou can tell used to be a bedroom ourkitcheni think this used to be an upstairslaundry room and i’m not surewhat else i think it must have been likea bonus room just because you can seeit’s pretty lateit’s a big room like i love having thisas a kitchenbut it doesn’t work to be both kitchenand dining room and utility you knowwhat i mean like it’s everythingin this room butanyways then we’ve got our bedroom whichis the size of a regular bedroomand our bathroom right there as anensuite soanyways like i said my guess is thatit’s at most 500square foot so if you’re ever interestedin a small space organizationslash apartment tour let me know and iwould love to do that for you guysthat’s three here’s the fourthe first two were half scoops that’swhy it looks like i did five but this isfourokay four scoops of flour donenow i need two teaspoons of bakingpowderthis is random but i love this this is aset my grandmother gave mewhen she found out i had met the guy whois now my husbandshe took me around her house and made mea little hope chestso these she’s had since my father wasborn so they’re really specialto me but they’re missing a few so fortwo teaspoons i’ll have to do fourscoops because i only have a half for ateaspoonso one twothreeokay it says to do a teaspoon of saltbut i’m just going to sprinkle it inbecause i don’t want to do too much saltrather just do thatand i’m going to go ahead and mix theseup let me put these away firstnow what you’re about to see me doingbecause i know this is in view is i’mgoing to go ahead and get my cuttingboardand i normally would do this in thebeginning but isimply forgot to and i liketo use my cutting board as my flowerrestbecause then the little bits that getstuck to your measuring cups when you’redealing with flour we’ll go ahead and goon that cutting boardso i don’t have to sprinkle any moreflour onto my work surface like it’s allalready thereand i also like to use a cutting boardas my work surface just to keepeverything more contained because as bigas this kitchenutility room is there really isn’t muchcounter space which is why i have thattable you sawso let’s put the flower in its newlittle storage bagand then we will get to mixingokayi’m definitely a big believer in a cleanas you gomethod just to keep everything nice andtidy while you workdefinitely a necessity when you live insuch a small apartmentnow my box can go back in my pantryand the way it goesokay let’s go ahead and get out somemilkall righty i’m gonna go ahead and mixthis upso right now i’m just mixing my dryingredientswhich if you didn’t catch it while i wasputting it init is four cups of flourtwo teaspoons of baking powderand then one teaspoon of salt but i justdashed it inthen you’re gonna go ahead and mix thatall upthen now i’m going to go ahead and dohow much milk does it say to doone and a third cups of milk so the waythat i like to do thatis i will just take my third cupmeasurementand i’ll do it four times so that i’mdoing it in incrementsso here’s the firstone then i’ll drape that righthere like thatand very soon here i’m going to have touse my hands it’s going to have toswitch from being the spoonbut while i can use the spoon i like ittoo i feel like it really helps get itmixed inokay so onetwoyeah we’re getting to that point wherei’m gonna have to use my hands here sooni’m gonna go ahead and do the last twoall right the oven’s ready so threethat’s one cupfour that is a cup and a thirdnow i’ll go ahead and just dab that offall right that can go in therethe milk awayokay sorry for this angle by the way i’maware that it must beincredibly just like unflattering whereyou can mostly just do likethat double chin we all get at thisangle butso be it it’s worth it because now youcan see how i do thisso i’m definitely not a professionalwhen it comes to baking i’ve only beenreally baking bread like thissince quarantine but i grew up with mymother baking bread all the timeand it’s one of my favorite things isjust the flavor of freshly baked breadhomemade bread there’s nothing like ityou really cannotequate it to getting bread from thestore to me and that’s why i love thisrecipe is because like i said you canreally use it for pretty much everythingso now it’s at that point where i’mgonna knead it with my handsokayi’m going to go ahead and put this on mywork surface too there we gothis way when i get the spillage that iam going to get move that overit’ll fall onto my work surfaceand all will be well sothis also definitely helps preserve mycountersokay and from this pointwhere you can see it’s kind ofi don’t even know how to describe thattexture um very doughyeven though it’s not fully mixed yet ido like to go ahead and dump it out ontothe worksurface because i find it easier to mixit from herewhen it’s flat sowhen you know what else i forgot iusually like to put oil on my handsoh well i’ll do that here in a secondsoi also like the flavor for the breadwhen i put a little bit of oil on myhandsa little bit of olive oil i just feellike it gives a slightadded flavorof goodness i can’t really describewhat kind of a flavor it gives oryou know how much i do but it just addsa little somethingthat i really appreciateokay so just rinse my handsi’m gonna bring some of this dough backon here that fell don’t worry my counteris cleanand then now i’m going to go ahead andput just a little bit of olive oilput that back on here on my handsliterally just like a dabthere we go these i think are so cutei got them at target they were in thedollar spot actually they’re adorableokay got the oil yes that’s so muchbetterit’s just i feel like it manipulatesbetter this way everything’s justnicer i hope i didn’t accidentally put alittle bit too much flour but if i did ididthis bread is so foolproof honestlythat’s one of the things i love about itbecause i definitely can need that helpsometimesand then when i get to this point whereit’s just a little bit too flowerybecause i’ve done that beforei just drizzle some olive oiland again i feel like it just adds alittle bit of something somethingthere’s really not a rhyme or reason toit you saw how much i didoh there we goi’m starting to get it how i like itit’s very much imperfect and that’s whati love about itis that you just go with it’s a littlebit different every timebut it always tastes good and then thekey with this one that you’ll see herein a secondis that you’re gonna make it into around discand it must not be higher than an inchand a halfso i’ll show that to you better here ina secondbut it can be an inch and a half i tryand keep mine at about an inchbut it must not be more than an inch anda half or else it justit doesn’t cook fully and part of what ilove about this one is that it issuch a moist bread all week this usuallyonly lasts us about a weekbut for that entire week so justdeliciousand moist and i love it with butter butyou don’t need it with butterthat’s part of why i like adding in theolive oil is that you don’thave to do butter with it but man is itgood with butteri am looking forward to having a slicewhen this is all donethere we go all rightmy poor phone is going to get verydoughy but that’s all right i’m going togo ahead and move this overhere so you can see see that texturesee where i spilled a little bit of thedoughokay i was thinking recentlyabout i love the beauty ofgaining strength through things likethisyou know this really is a bit of an armworkoutto knead dough and i just think there’ssomethingso special about that you know the lorddesigned usto cook and then those things that wemust dogive strength and i just find that to beso specialyou know everything that he calls us toeverything that he puts before usalways has a lasting benefitand i just think that is so special allright let me see if i canshape this a little bit more into a discbut if not yeah it’s not wanting to golet me put a little bit more olive oilokay now the recipe that i’m going tolink does not include the olive oil buti love it i justreally like the flavor and then i like isaidi actually get a little bit too muchflour going on i feel like it definitelydoes help itso here we goi’m gonna actually i think what i’ll dois i’ll fold this backonto it like this and then flatten itdownto try and get this a little bit betterokaythis is going to be more of a squareloaf this time aroundbut that’s all right as i keep saying norhyme or reasonwe just kind of go with it allrightyso now i’m going to go ahead and pullthishot cookie sheet out of the oven movethis out of the wayso now that’s nice and hot then i goahead and spray it so it doesn’t sticki just use pam cooking spray and thenthe last thing that i almost forgot isyou’re going to want to take a knifeyou can see this is about you know aninch to an inch and a halfbut now you’re going to want to take aknife and deeply like i cuttill i can feel the cutting boardunderneath mecut a nice x in the middleand this is so thatget all the way this is so that it cooksfully in the middleif you don’t do the x and if you do itmore than an inch to an inch and a halfit’s not gonnait’s not gonna cook properly in themiddle so now i’m gonna bring thiscutting board over to hereand how can i do this this is always thehardest part for me is transferring itonto the cutting boardi always get so nervousokayso this is what it looks like right nowjust before it goes in this is so thatit cooks in the middleand as you can see it’s about you knowno more than an inch to an inch and ahalftall and i mean you can definitely seeit’s notperfect but that’s what works about itis that it doesn’t have to be perfectall right now that is in the oven readyto go i turned on my oven light becausei like to watch itand in 35 minutes i’ll meet you backhere i’ll show you the finished producti’ll cut it for you and we’ll enjoy itbut for nowi’m going to go ahead and clean up myspace make some coffee and enjoy thisamazingrainy day that we’re having i love dayslike this where you can justfaintly see the mountain through theclouds the magnolias are just startingto bloomit’s a beautiful day so i’ll see
