Apple Pie with Homemade Pie Crust Recipe (Eggless)

Apple pie is an absolute favorite baked dessert at home. On some occasions I make this apple pie and it really makes for a good sweet breakfast or evening dessert.

This is also a vegan recipe for making apple pie. The pie crust is made both with whole wheat flour and all purpose flour in 2:1 ratio respectively.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius/356 degrees Fahrenheit for 50 or 60 mins or till the crust has become golden and crisp. Preheat oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.

INGREDIENTS:

FOR APPLE PIE CRUST
1 cup whole wheat flour (atta)
½ cup all purpose flour (maida)
¼ cup olive oil or any neutral tasting oil like sunflower oil
⅓ cup water at room temperature – or add as required
½ teaspoon salt or add as required

FOR APPLE PIE FILLING
2 medium sized apples, peeled, cored and sliced
¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder
¼ teaspoon nutmeg powder or grated nutmeg
2 tablespoons whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons demerara sugar (or brown sugar or regular white sugar or castor sugar)
a few dots of oil to top the filling

OTHER INGREDIENTS
some cinnamon powder and organic unrefined cane sugar (or brown sugar or regular sugar) for sprinkling
few teaspoons of soy milk or almond milk for glazing
