How to Make American Apple Pie

Pick up line of the day: “Thy breath is like the steame of apple-pyes.” Try it! It worked for Robert Greene in 1590.

Nothing is quite as American as apple pie, right? In this video, Chef Steffi meets “I Love Lucy” in a 1950s housewife, apple pie baking extravaganza. Did Johnny Appleseed really exist? And why is apple pie so American? I am going to make my FIRST EVER pie in this video, with a very special ingredient: a pinch of fun facts!

Easy Apple Pie Recipe: https://www.thespruceeats.com/easy-apple-pie-recipe-for-kids-2097625

Ingredients
2 refrigerated pie crusts
1 egg white
8 large Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and sliced thinly)
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon

1. Gather the ingredients.
2. Preheat oven to 400 F.
3. Unfold one of the pie crusts onto a 9-inch pie plate. Brush with egg white (this prevents the crust from getting soggy). Let the egg white dry while you prepare the filling.
4. Toss apples with remaining ingredients. Place apples closely together into prepared crust.
5. Unfold the second prepared pie crust over the apples, tucking the excess under the bottom crust. Now crimp the edges with your fingers.
6. Cut 3 or 4 slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape. Brush the top of the crust with any remaining egg white.
7. Cover the pie loosely with a sheet of aluminum foil.
8. Bake 10 minutes. Remove the foil, lower the temperature to 375 F, and bake another 30 to 40 minutes.
9. Once finished baking, set pie aside to cool for 4 hours for best results.
10. Once cool, slice pie, and serve.

I’ll leave you with an apple pie quote from one of my favorite libertarians: “You’ll see a movie about someone you hate or someone you love. Will you see a movie about grandma making apple pies? No, you won’t. Only if grandma has poisoned the neighbor or is suspected of poisoning the neighbor through her apple pies.” – John McAfee

And on that note, be free!!

welcome home oh my gosh I feel like such
a housewife right now
I picked a super easy apple pie recipe
because nothing is as American as apple
pie
am i right let’s get to the ingredients
we’ve got sugar flour two refrigerated
pie crusts you can make them from
scratch but I’m being a little lazy
cinnamon one egg white and eight granny
smith apples apple peeling is seriously
one of my least favorite things ever got
a super old corer thing oh my gosh put
my weight into it
whoa wow there is literally Apple going
everywhere that’s why you need some big
muscles apple slices are finally thinly
sliced to about half an inch and width
and we’re going to set the oven to 400
degrees before we start putting our pie
crust out we have our refrigerated pie
crust already made we have our 9 inch
pie plate you know the thing that made
me most nervous about making an apple
pie for the very first time was the
crust it’s just because it looks so
artistic when they do the crimping and
it made me really intimidated I’m going
to brush this bottom crust with some egg
white it’s a happy crust just like Bob
Ross going to add 1 TSP of cinnamon 2
tablespoons of all-purpose flour
finally 1/3 cup of granulated sugar we
mix all of this around next step we’re
going to put the apples into our crust
Bowl there are so many apples it’s so
hard to believe but all of these can fit
in
here hmm this could be a really I PI
that is the highest flippin apple pie
I’ve ever seen all right let’s put her
on top oh shoot
I’m supposed to put one over the other
kind of fold it pie has definitely
filled the capacity and it’s already
kind of breaking out here I’m supposed
to put little air holes but I probably
don’t even really need air holes and I
can also coat the top with some more of
the egg we are going to bake the covered
pie for 10 minutes at 400 degrees did
you know that Johnny Appleseed was a
real dude he was in the lead seventeen
hundred’s his real name was John Chapman
he went all throughout the United States
planning apple-trees the ten minutes is
up we take the tinfoil off now we lower
the oven temperature to 375 and we’re
going to bake our pie for an additional
30 to 40 minutes in World War 2 it’s
really interesting to note that when
soldiers used to be asked why are you
fighting they would oftentimes reply for
mom and apple pie and apple pie was a
symbol of the American Dream and the
pursuit of happiness it’s done the
smells coming from this oven you guys
are just unbelievable oh my god that
almost fell oh it’s so slippery
so bubbling you know what the depressing
thing is I was reading that you’re
supposed to let this cool for four hours
before digging into it to let the pectin
and the apples mix together to create a
great filling
the temptation is killing me but I want
this to taste as good as it possibly can
so I think I’m gonna wait the four hours
to try it I feel like dancing today
alright let’s dig into this pie shall we
the big reveal it’s really flaky really
really flaky obviously it’s it’s got
some air holes going on it looks pretty
natural it looks delicious it’s time to
cut in Wow
the taste is literal perfection I hope
