APPLE PIE RECIPE | BAKE WITH ME

This apple pie is beyond delicious! It can be made both gluten and dairy free or traditionally with the exact same measurements. Hope you give it a try!

RECIPE

APPLE MIXTURE:
7-8 apples (I like 6 Cortlands, 2 Granny Smith – 8 cups total)
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp butter (or dairy alternative – I use Earth Balance)

Mix all ingredients into a large mixing bowl until apples are evenly distributed. Set aside or in refrigerator until all juices start to marinate together. Fill apples in prepared pie crust.

CRUST (makes a top and bottom shell)
2 cups flour (gluten free 1:1 or white)
3/4 cup Crisco
1/2 tsp salt

Mix above ingredients together until crumbly, then add 2 tbsp white vinegar & 4 tbsp milk (more if needed)
Split dough in half and roll out each half onto lightly floured cheese cloth making a top and bottom shell. Transfer to pie dish.

I also like to cover the “crust” (outside) of the pie shell once the pie is all assembled to prevent browning too quickly around the edge. I bake it this way the entire time. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 50-60 minutes or until golden brown.

Let cool for one hour before slicing. Enjoy!
