– An egg
– I would like an egg as well.
(startled shrieks)
(Bouncy horns play)
– Were going to be making
pancakes without a recipe today.
– Ooh.
– You’re a mom, you’ve made pancakes.
– Yeah.
– I’ve never made pancakes, period.
– What, what?!
– Eat pancakes, but at stores.
– Have you made them?
– I’ve never made a pancake before.
– But I feel pretty confident
that we can make something
pancake adjacent.
– Pancakes are really
difficult to mess up.
– I’m confident.
– Yeah like how bad can we do?
– Cut to the failure.
– Whatever you make, I will try.
– Okay.
– Okay.
– Wow.
– Its kinda fun to like, go off the rails
and try something new
with your best friend.
– (giggles)
– Should we get started?
– Yeah.
– So we are gonna need whisks…
– Flour, whisks.
– Were gonna need that one measuring cup.
– Look at these lil’ guys.
– Those are so cute.
– I love when you go like
that and you’re like cooking.
– Yeah you do look, you look like a chef.
– You’re gonna actually
use measuring cups huh?
– I have to or else I’m not
gonna get the ratios correct.
– Well, well, well.
– Its like.
– Somebody’s talking about ratios.
– Is that flour?
– Yeah it’s flour.
– Okay I know you need flour in that.
– Okay I’m gonna go a
little more free-wheelin’.
– Oh my gosh, see he’s gonna do that
and he’s gonna do better.
Whenever I’m careful, I lose.
This isn’t a contest.
– I don’t know what order to do this in,
I’m just doing it based on my emotions.
– Do you need an egg?
– Yes i’ll need an egg.
– Can you crack it with one hand?
– Aw no.
I suck at cracking eggs.
– Woo hoo!
Julia Child get at me.
– Sugar is a wet ingredient, I know that.
– Wait sugar’s not a wet ingredient.
– Yeah it is, its
considered a wet ingredient.
– Is it?
– I think I need baking soda.
– How much sugar did you put in?
– Mm, I’m not telling you.
– I do need one of these guys,
just to get this out of here
but I’m not measuring it.
– I get confused, TSP if
it’s table or teaspoon.
– That’s teaspoon.
– Oh TBSP is tablespoon.
– Oh i’ll put some cinnamon
in cause I like it.
– Do some cinnamon.
– Last thing I’m gonna put
in is the milk I think.
– I’m just gonna copy Kelsey.
– I’m glad that like you
have such faith in my skills
that you’re like I’m just gonna copy you.
– This egg seems like
it was a lot of liquid.
I guess we can add more flour to it.
– Gonna put a hint of
vanilla, because I know if you
put too much it’s too strong.
– That’s a lot of vanilla, okay.
– That’s what it is so far,
and now I’m gonna add milk
until its the consistency of a pancake.
– This is really thick.
– You’re gonna need more liquid.
– This is an arm workout.
– Add a little.
You don’t want, oh no.
– Did you just spill all over us?
– Yeah, I’m sorry.
– That’s okay.
– Keep going.
– Hannah, you’re so positive,
I really appreciate that.
You haven’t given up on me.
– She is fantastic, you can
do anything you believe in YB.
I love you.
– Oh thank you.
– Yours looks a little runny,
I’d be pretty embarrassed
if I were you.
– Yeah, that feels like
a pancake consistency.
– I think I did too many chocolate chips.
– I don’t think that’s possible-
that’s too many chocolate chips.
– Really?
– Add in a little bit more milk.
Ahh, that was a lot, no!
– Have you taste tested your batter yet?
– I don’t taste test with raw eggs.
– I’ma go rogue, I’m
gonna taste the batter.
– I think I need a little
more baking powder.
– Oh I wouldn’t shake it, and I’d use a…
– Yeah I know what you would do.
– You know what?
It doesn’t have any
salt, that’s what it is.
That’s what it is.
– Add a little more vanilla.
– How much did you put in?
– You can never have enough vanilla.
– How much did you put in?
– Its impossible.
– People, you gotta put
salt in your cookies,
you gotta put salt in your pancakes,
it just gives it that special.
(french finger kisses)
(strings strumming)
– Just gonna get a little butter in here.
– You feel, you wait till
the bubbles pop on the top
and then you flip.
– I’ma make big pancake baby, here we go.
Is that the sound it’s supposed to make?
– That’s a thiccum, that’s a thick boy.
– So there was a bubble right there.
– Yeah, it’s gonna pop.
– It needs like a little bit more time.
– Put a little bit, we’ll spray it.
– Inside?
– Yeah its just oil.
– Okay.
(chuckles)
– Woo hoo, that does
not look too bad at all!
– Oh wow.
– That was a nice one.
– Hannah, that looks fine.
– I made him his name is Fred.
Fred the pancake, pat, get ’em.
– He’s a big boy.
– Look at that jiggly stuff.
– All right, my turn?
– Yep, go ahead.
– I just spray like?
– Yeah.
– Don’t be afraid to use this stuff,
you don’t want that stickin.’
– YB’s first pancake!
I’m so proud of you!
– Here we go.
– So you made enough for exactly one.
– Oh, this looks a little thin.
– Ooh maybe I can make
it into a little shape
A really ugly.
– Yours is kinda dark in color.
– Most of the liquid in there is vanilla.
– Shouldn’t it like sizzle?
– Its not like frying an egg.
– Careful, oooh.
– Its a little light.
– Wasn’t quite ready.
– That’s okay, we’ll flip it back.
– Its too big to flip.
Should I wait a little longer?
– Part of me just wants to help,
but part of me is like no
she should do it herself.
– You can have some of my batter.
– I don’t want some of your batter.
Your batter looks gross.
– I think it’s just practice.
– It’s still a heart, just a broken heart.
I’m a bird learning to fly,
its gonna make mistakes.
– Definitely doesn’t look correct.
– Get it off maybe.
– I could do this side just a little bit.
Gotta kiss it.
– Why does it look dry?
– That looks like a really
good first pancake YB.
– I know, I’m proud.
– Get that sweet satisfying, yeah buddy!
– Yeah.
– Ooh, the chocolate chips are goozing.
– I’m gonna dig in and try
my pancake creation and see
if it measures up to the ones
that my mom used to make.
– Cheers.
– This is solid.
Oh my god this is good, how is yours.
– Mine’s gummy.
– Its not bad, too salty.
– Its your pancake,
its not right or wrong.
– No it’s wrong.
You are correct, it’s
not right it’s wrong.
– Like the consistency is like very…
– I wanna try yours.
– Yeah, I think I put
too much baking powder
or flour or something.
(laughs)
Its not bad.
– It’s not bad.
It’s just weird.
– Lets see.
– Okay, ill try yours.
– (laughs)
Yeah, that’s how a
pancake is supposed to be.
– Friggin proud of this pancake.
I would make this again.
– If someone served me
that, and they were like
“this is what you get to eat”
(laughs)
I would eat it.
– I would be like just drink
a lot of milk with this.
– its totally fine.
– I’m trying to actually
give the people an honest
assessment of my pancake.
– Wait let’s just do a side-by-side.
(laughs)
– We learned a bit about pancake making.
I think we didn’t do any big missteps.
– You think you’ll ever
make another pancake.
– I think I could probably
be okay at making pancakes.
– I mean I think…
– Also, whose pancake’s
been eaten more of.
– You got good impulses.
And that impulse is to do what I do.
– That’s the first step right?
– Honestly, learning from other people.
I learned from my mom, so.
– You’re my mom now.
(laughs)
(horns bleep)
