Easy Jar Pancakes!



Still finding recipes in my childhood cookbook. This video shows how to make pancakes using a jar. I even saved some for the next day to see how it stores over-night. This is a great family fun recipe.
Ingredients:
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon oil
1& 1/4 cup all purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

hello and welcome to another episode ofChef Carter’s cooking cornerso today on chef Carter’s cooking cornerI’m going to make pancakes and this isgonna be a little different because I’mgonna be making it in a jar so thisrecipe comes from the Better Homes andGardens new junior cookbook from when Iwas a child so this is on page 67 and soI’m gonna give you a close-up of theingredients very simple ingredients eggsmilk flour a little salt baking powdersugar little oil so let’s get startedall right so the recipe is very simpleso the first thing it says is to breakan egg into the jar and then I’m goingto go ahead and add milk it’s 1 cup ofmilk then I said cover the jar and shakeokay just in case I missed any milknow it says to carefully add our measureflour sugar baking powder and salt intothe jaralright so I have one 1/4 cup of flouralready measured outmy plan is working very well you mighthave to do it in a different way huhwell some of it came out and after justvery carefully do this I guessI’m missing a few okay so I lost alittle bit of flourit’s minisculeyou wipe that off the countertopokaynow let’s see I added that the one on1/4 cup of flour 2 teaspoons of bakingpowder wait this is sodadang I always do that do you do that letme get the baking powder I’ll be rightback all right so we fixed it now theyhave baking baking powder so it doesmake the difference if you don’t put theright one in some recipes they come outreally just really gross to meok so 1/2 teaspoons so 1 & 2 2 teaspoonsand then says 1/2 a teaspoon of saltHey all right so shake it up okay Ididn’t forget earlier with with liquidingredients you’re supposed to add atablespoon of oil so I decided to shakeup the ingredients a little bit firstand then add that oil so it wasn’t juston the top of all the dry ingredients[Applause]it’s too earlyso this really is my breakfast[Music]I wonder if I’m shaking the camera as Ido it’s a find out when I edit all rightlet’s see so this is just a noteSmuckers jar the jar needs to be atleast 1 quartthat’s fits four cups of whatever liquidwhatever was in the jar so alright Ithink that’s all right all right sothat’s shaken up so I’m gonna let theskillet heat up and I don’t know if youcan see inside there but yeah it’s it’sin there so we’re gonna put the lid ontill the ingredients heat up I’ll takeyou over to the stove all right so I’mgonna get another shake of my jar let’sget started with these pancakesit’s a nice thick batterokay I think I need to turn my heat downjust a littleokay so you’re only supposed to flipyour pancakes once you see how they’rerising and that’s what you want yourpancakes to rise alright so they’re botha nice color on both sides that oneturned out a little funkyI do the next couplebecause I want to make a big one I likebig pancakeslet me go ahead and flip this pancakeyes it’s a hard one because it’s biggeroh I messed up look what I didbut if you do that just wait a couplemore minutes or just leave it in it’llcook so let’s see what they look like inthe middle that’s the real test allrightand that’s beautiful look how that looksso let me taste it all right tastes likea pancake so one question I’m wonderingis how will this perform the next day soI’m going to put this in therefrigerator and cook a little morepancakes tomorrow I’ll see you then allright so it’s the next day and I got myjar out I want to see how the pancakescome out after 24 hours I’m gonna try todo this so you can see inside therethere you go all right so I’m going togo ahead and pour this in maybe give ita good shake before I pour it in allrightshook it up a little bitoh wow it’s really thickyou flatten it out a little morelet’s see what this looks likeokay it looks like a pancake on theinside so it tastes pretty good so youcan’t keep this overnight so but thankyou for stopping by Chef Carter’scooking corner perhaps you can trypancakes made in a jar so turned outokayit’d be great for the kids to do withparent supervision you know alright wellthank you for stopping by Chef Carter’scooking corner I’ll see you next time
