Vonnie’s No Bake Cookies

Easy little cookies with minimal work and fuss but lots of taste.
It is very important that you use WHOLE MILK.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment or waxed paper, either works. Unless you have a very large cookie sheet, you will need two.
RECIPE:
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 pound (1 stick) butter
2 1/2 cups old fashioned oatmeal (not 5 minute)
4-6 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup coconut
In large saucepan put sugar, milk, and butter.
Bring to a slow boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Boil for 1 minute stirring continually..
Remove from heat and add oatmeal, cocoa, and coconut stirring until mixed well.
Drop by spoonfuls on parchment or waxed paper and let sit to firm up.
Nice trail food as well as anywhere treat!!

I do my baking on what Martin isto need in the near future and tomorrowhe’ll be joining some friends they willbe in an area that’s covered over withbrush and scrub and they’re going toclear that because then it’s aconservation project they’re going toplant native seeds and it will be abeautiful prairie and Savannah whateverthey want in the end but they’re gonnabe working hard tomorrow so I’m gonnamake this cookie that is very sweet verychocolatey might be very bad for you buttomorrow they’re going to be working sohard and it tastes so very good thatthey can afford to have one or two ofthese cookies now my mom didn’t makemany cookies she was queen of pies shedidn’t make many cakes but if she evermade a cookie this was it and so it’svery easy I don’t even know if it’s apopular recipe anymore you don’t bake itbut you do cook some of the ingredientson the stove for a short period of timeso they will set up this is what you’regoing to need by the way I want to showyou something before I startthat’s my cheat sheet because I get soflabbergasted talking to you guys that Ihave right there my ingredients so let’sgo back down here these are theingredients we are gonna have 2 cups ofsugar 1/2 cup of milk now the milk is aspecial thing you need to use whole milkI have you skim milk you eat the cookieswith a spoon then they don’t set up I’veused 2% they still don’t set up quiteright you need to use whole milk so it’s2 cups sugar 1/2 cup milk 1/4 pound or 1stick of butterit doesn’t need to be softened becauseyou’re going to put it on the stove 1/2cup coconut 2 and 1/2 cups of oatmealthat’s regular oatmeal not minuteoatmeal and 4 to 6 tablespoons of cocoaand if you know my husband enough it’s 6tablespoons of cocoa some of them areeven heaping I also have my saucepan anda big cookie sheet that I’ve coveredwith parchment paper now my mom alwaysuse wax paper but to prove that I reallydo live in thethis century I’m going to actually useparchment paper this is all you’re goingto need and then you’re going to cookthis just a few minutes and then put thecookies onto the sheet this is a cocoa Iuse usually I even have a special darkbut this is what I had on hand right nowbut we’re going to get this going we’regonna put certain things in the potfirst and then add the rest alright thefirst step is to put two cups of sugar1/2 cup of whole milk and one stick or1/4 pound of butter into this what I’mgoing to do is I’m going to put this onthe burner and I will bring it to a boilunder a medium heat and let it boil forone minute okay I have my electric stoveon medium it takes a little longer tocome to heat than a gas stove but onething you want to do with this is don’tbe walking away very far because you’regonna steer it every once in a while youdon’t want the sugar to burn and youdon’t want anything to burn in here itjust ruins the whole batch so everyoneso I’ll give it a stir we’re going tobring it to a little rolling boil andlet it boil like that for a minute andwe’ll stir it as it’s boiling but havepatience here this will come to a littleboil it won’t take long this is all thecooking you need to do with this recipeso be patient okay as you can see it’scome to a little rolling boil I’ve setmy timer for a minute and when that’sdone I’ll kind of stir this as it’sgoing you’re just on medium rememberwhen this is done I’ll turn the heat offand I will add the rest of theingredients and then that’s all there isto this let’s finish this off we’ve gotabout 30 seconds I don’t franticallystir it I just kind of do a slow stir soit doesn’t burnall right we’re just about be done therewe go I’m going to turn the timer offturn the heat off and next I add thelast three ingredients two and a halfcups oatmeal six tablespoons cocoa and1/2 cup coconut here goes the oatmealcoconut and cocoa stir this in I cankind of remove it from the heat a littlebit but there we go stir it inthen we’re gonna form it into cookiesthat’s all there is to of this see thatthis is all set to go now I’m going tostart putting this on the parchmentpaper on my cookie sheet you’ll probablyneed two cookie sheets I have thisenormous cookie sheet but you probablyneed two I’m just gonna use a scoop Imeasures the scoop once and there’s oneand a half tablespoons in the scoopthere we go and I will fill this wholething and then they will set up and theywill be yummy yummy there we go let mefill this whole trip here we go no bakecookies very fast it didn’t take long atall there’s almost three dozen cookieson here now we’re just going to let themset then they’ll be ready to eat okay sohonest to gosh this is life in our houseMartin is home today and I went to putthese on a plate and I noticed a fewspots missing so I’m never sure how manycookies I’m really gonna end up with I’mgonna put these on a plate now they’veset up it’s been about an hour and ahalf well here we go no bake cookies allset to be eaten as you can see you don’tmake them very big they’re very rich butyou’ve got your coconut and your oatmealyou can see there and of course thechocolate enjoy these they’re very easyto make and again like other thingsthey’re very easy to eat have a bigglass of milk
