this season is all daddy what areconfusing blend of flavors the try guysare back in the Test Kitchen for withouta recipe the series for weeks forEpisode four foods no recipe each weekwe’re gonna be focusing on a differentfood cookies bagels ice cream andbirthday cakes I’m not here to makefriends I’m here to make friends withthe judges we have YouTube sweetheartRosanna pansino and world renowned chefRoy Choi stick around because without arecipe is gonna be all month long baby[Music]the try guys are back in the kitchen forwithout a recipe to kick off this seasonthey’re baking cookies everyone outthere you’ve made a cookie it’simpossible with each of the try guyswe’ll have two hours to make a cookie oftheir choice and presented to our panelof judges I tell you what I’ve neverseen this ever hi I’m Rosie Anna pansinoand I have the most popular baking showon YouTube and I have been baking sinceI was four years old my name is Roy ChoiI have no baking experience but I’mextremely judgmental itemlook we’ve done a lot of cooking videosI’ve been on a hot streak lately butthat was with a recipe this is try guyswithout a recipe pies and bread and Ikept third place both times whole horsecrap I don’t bake last time we did thisI did not do so well time before that Ialso did not do so well that is theworst food I’ve ever tried in my lifeI’m not good at this[Music]all right bakers three two onetry to bake go bake today I’m gonna bemaking cookies with peanut butter andchocolate I will be adding some whitemiso to my peanut butter to give it alittle umami flavor today I’m going tobe making a garbage cookie know knowwhat kind of cookie are you makingthat’s what I’m calling it now in thepast I’ve tried this technique it didn’twork out but today I’m feeling good I’mgonna be taking all of the things that Ilove and loading it up into one monstercookie I’m gonna make something withalcohol and I’m going to try my darndestto put things that have no businessbeing in a cookie into a cookie and I’mgonna try to find a way to but got yourtongue and miso into a cookie let’s hearthis again Korean fermented bean paste Ican say with confidence as a Korean itdoes not appear in desserts it’s thesauce you put in biven Bob I bought thisat the Korean market and I have it in myrefrigerator and I will be making myfather’s favorite cookie my dad lovesoatmeal raisin cookies I’m going to thatdad flavor this season cinnamon raisineverything my dad has eaten raisin branevery day for his life since I’ve beenborn to start each try guy will have 40minutes to prepare the cookie dough sofor our base cookie recipe I came upwith a little acronym tabs flour eggsbutter baking soda or baking powder andsugar I know that cookie dough hasbutter cuz it makes some me poop I knowit has egg because you’re not supposedto eat raw cookie dough but I do itanyway and I know it’s got sugar cuzit’s oh so yummy as people in my familywho say my room so your first step iswe’ll cream together your cold butterbrown sugar and granulated sugartogether I like to use cold butterbecause it really helps with the textureand the density of the cookie at the endI grab some almond flour because I likenuts I know that they do butter andsugar togetherthat’s the recipes start that’s what I’mgonna do – that’s what recipes end toups of fine pastry flour like twodifferent batters and then try somethingweird I don’t know how much supposed togo in anything so I’m just putting it ina bunch put salted butter in my cookiescuz I like a good presence of salt to meit’s don’t be afraid of salt you tellyou don’t want to over salt your cookiebut I think’s all kind of cuts thesweetness and really adds that saltysweet bite people don’t realize you’vegotta have salt and everything in fact Idon’t think there’s such a thing as toomuch salt my buttergot put in the freezer cuz it’s justsomething I see my father-in-law do whenhe bakes pies something about notletting your butter get too melted islike a thing I don’t know what I’m doingyou gene the next thing you’re gonna dois you’re gonna add in your eggs in yourvanilla make sure to mix well untilincorporate it but do not over mixbecause you avoid melting the butter andover spreading at the end okay so I’mgonna use two eggs okay how many eggs -Eggs[Applause]two weeks feels good I put some waterand the eggs and the butter together Irealize that’s not right but ingredientsfirst and then your dry ingredients it’sgonna be together the other day soeverything I know about baking I knowfrom what I up horribly inprevious episodes so I know that you’resupposed to do your wet and your dryseparately my eggs are not going inuntil we’re really ready oh and vanillaobviously will pumpkin flavored creamliqueur go better with me so or what youJohn one goes in peace they will get ohit smells like oatmeal delicious oatmealand oil I feel like cookies have moreoil than other things and I think youwant to do is add in your mix-ins inthis case it was chocolate chips so addin your chocolate chips and just mixuntil incorporated we put this into thewet batter that way you don’t run therisk of having chocolate chips be unevenin certain cookies now I have so manyraisins to choose from today called biggolden little golden and Ziggler ball mydad loves raisin bran and the number onesignature thing about raisin bran is ithas how many two scoops of raisins allright time for the nice oh he’s soexcited to see how this turns out Oh canI use your cinnamon yeah hey it’s ourcinnamon thanks can I say I thinkoatmeal raisin gets a really bad rap saygame same but if you go in knowing whatit is you get a good oatmeal chocolatechip with a nice flaky sea salt on spotoh you got daddy’s favorite right thereyou call him daddy no but growing uplike everything that was my dad’s wascalled daddy this the milk that when hedrank vitamin D milk I was daddy milk hehad this coffee cake that was daddy cakeoh this is a Korean culture song whichis very spicy fermented pulverize beanthat’s really spicy never seen gochujangsirso you know I have actually heard aboutwhite miso being combined with peanutbutter before we got coconut flakes wegot almonds we’re going nuts instead ofchocolate chips I’m going to do M&MSlet’s get some bittersweet chocolate -sure why notthis feels really nice smells likeoatmeal so sweet and pecans and mineyeah we’ll add some pink berry andchocolate chips I’ll be great 20 minutesin the guys seem to have hit a wallputting some salts in because it was sosweet it’s boring your food yeah chunkypeanut butter what am I gonna do what amI gonna do now don’t get me wrong I lovechunky peanut butter on a sandwichall day every day but on a cookie isn’tbad a little all spice in there try tomake it a little more interestingWow look at that yeah it’s a lot ofstuff full on cups of peanut butteryou’re gonna put peanut in the namegotta have peanuts as your game I cannotlook often say that this tastes good andas you can see from the color that isspicy red bean paste it tastes good butit’s still just like not challengingenough my daddy likes more salt thanthis but I think I’m gonna put flakesalt on the top of the finished cookiethis might be totally inedible but I’mjust going for it so next the final stepof the mixing process is the dryingredients your flour your leaveningagents we do equal parts baking soda andbaking powder and your salt in this casewe also incorporated our cinnamon andcornstarch and then I put all of my dryingredients into the wet all at oncebecause you don’t want to overwork theflour or any baking powder or sodawhat’s the difference never know themore the merrierthey’re probably not that differentlet’s go with half a teaspoon look howgood my luck schools are to mixingpeanut butter into my egg mixture I’mabout ready to get my butter out of thefreezer that looks like something set itflip it switch it’s getting slower andthicker that’s a good sign is egg makeit stronger nothing wrong with egg 1/2 acup of chocolate chipssuper good oh dear Lord forgive me for Iam sinning feel like I’ve done somethingwrong cuz these are both so goopy but Igot to get this scoop far enough apartI like to allow two inches on each sideyou don’t want the cookies to spread outand run into each other otherwise you’llwind up with a cookie cake I’ll use theparchment paper the best cookie sheetsare lined with butter so I’m just gonnause a normal spoon okay let’s do oneplatter at a time what are confusingblend of flavors it’s very wet cookiedough is not wet it’s gonna lean intothe idea that they look like monstersyou know let them beat globs let globsbe globs let monsters be monsters I’mtoying with the idea of the classicpeanut butter crisp shaping with thefork stuff on the side I’m puttinglittle pretzels on top of mine forhashtag aesthetics I can guarantee youthat no one in the history of theuniverse has ever made this dough maybeMike you know what happens miso 1/2 from childhood the cookies theycook frozen cookies that I bake in myhouse cook about nine to ten minutes andsince these are just refrigerated Ithink it’s gonna be more seven or eightminutes and I’m down my guess is 12minutes 12 minutes really that fastI think they cook pretty fast well maybe25 minutes I don’t know I prefer a gooeyyour cookie so if I pull it out earlierthan laterprobably more okay with that then itbeing really crispy I smellKorean food so far I think I’m doing athing they look like cookies look likeants we put our cookies in at 375 for 14minutes we’re looking for a rise untilit’s a nice dome shape a little bit ofspreading and then a nice golden Sunkistbrown and a little cracking on the edgesoh well something’s immediatelyhappening and that something is notpromising what is that I will say Iforgot to put any baking powder bakingsoda I don’t know if that’s the thing Imeant to I didn’t well I did but Ididn’t only put a little bit of one ohgod dude they’re really melted never seethey’re realI really never seen a lot happen if yourcookies are spreading way too much andit just looks like it’s turning intolike a pudding at that point youprobably know you haven’t way too muchbutter or just not enough flour oh mygod my cookies they’re definitelymelting use your fish summer sputteringthey look like pancakes I think I puttoo much butter in this is awful I’mlosing my ridges it’s like the peeingit’s been 1 minute a they are Mel isthat the caramel super we’re gonna takeall that confidence from about 40seconds ago and a throw out the windowwhoop I tell you what I’ve never seenthis ever I’m sorry don’t I thoughtyours were to be perfect they’ve metthey’ve met and now they’re married andthey’re one cookie it’s like it’s cryingglass like a sheath it looks like we’re just gonnahave a little damn soak up the excessbutter oh boy they look nicer than Ithought they would but I think they’re alittle too fluffy how do your giant assby seem douchebag cookies look cakey cookie gooey Center fromexterior and lots and lots of flavor myfavorite cookie is a chocolate chipcookie I just want these cookies totaste good and not be burnt perfectchocolate chip cookie is still thequintessential cookie[Music]judges I present to you a return tochildhood a cookie that uses all thethings that I loved as a kid M&Mspretzels caramel and more I hope you gogaga for my little monster I really likethe presentation very fun oh he’s eatingit he’s eating it Oh creativity-wise Imean I like the fact that you put insome really cool ingredients in therethis could have been a hot mess but itactually is pretty I definitely like theM&Ms in the chocolate I don’t tasteenough saltI like that depending on where I bite ittastes different like the middle theoutsides are birth though did you useany sort of leavening baking soda bakingpowder this sure this is a lot of butterI mean it’s just very it’s so soft thisis without breaking it can bend does itnot look like the most delicious littleyarmulke you’ve ever seen looks like astate Australia actually Horace pilibaby actually I mean that is creative noI’d buy this at a bake sale big sellcookies are usually bad soyou wrap these individually that’s gooddo most of your experiments come outthis edible yeah mine I feel like awinner already I’m not just not sure toomuch for me if it’s a cookie so youdon’t think it’s a cookie but to me it’sa cookie because I don’t know what elseit is judges these cookies honor myfather Donald hammers burger who lovesoatmeal raisin cookies these are oatmealraisin cinnamon cookies also known asdaddy’s favoritefirst of all right away the presentationis beautiful and I love the sprinkle ofsaltI can smell am I supposed to like itit’s Oh what do you not like it’s alittle deceptive all right all theflavors but it’s very dry maybe too muchcinnamon cinnamon sucks all the moistureout of something well it’s like the onlyfavor I taste is cinnamon which isdeceptive because you think it’s gonnabe like this super chewy saw delightfulcookie and it just it kind of crumblesin your mouth these were baked yes okaybecause they feel like you took oak mealuh-huh like soft oatmeal and then formthem and then some dried them all ofthis is coming from a good placepresentation and I like the ratio ofraisins just the taste is the one that’sthe one pillar on the little strugglingway people don’t eat cookies for thetaste they eat it for the number ofraisins or or the look father’s oftenhave a very dry sense of humor and Itried to capture that in wit cookie sdaddy’s favorite submittals yes okay Ithink the title is creative I do likethe daddy’s favorite thank you but youknow it’s a standard oatmeal raisincookie with a little bit of sea salt ontop so I think it’s pretty down themiddle uh-huh oh and is it a cookie Ithink it’s a cookie it’s a deceptivecookie I would consider this to be moreof a cookie than the last one we sawbecause the look and the texture it justhas just lacks seatinghell man not that dry and my moment ofweakness but what if I marketed as ahealth bar that would work absolutelythere’s any like wow this is pretty goodfor something healthy does it speak Dada- you know I would never feed my kidthis but would your kids feed you thisno judges I present to you my peanutbutter chocolate crisps as a kid myfavorite cookies to bake were peanutbutter cookies off the bat it looksstraight up like a cookie for sure allthe crispy or side I love the this beengoing on top it’s very thin I mean thisis a very doesn’t budge antique cookielook at health and we are here oh that’slike an Instagram a bowl like frickinshot right there this is huge this isthe size of a bagel it’s a strangecookie I’m not saying it’s bad or goodI’m just saying it’s strange whoa whyare so spicy oh my god oh so judges onthe lighter side you have vanilla pecanBailey’s that has a pumpkin spike to ithuh a lot of miso and then on the darkerside you have chocolate cacao Kahlua andgochujang spicy chili to cookies herethough I feel like we got the pecanvanilla one which actually I like verygood then you got the darker one withthe spice in it still delicious it’sjust again like it’s super kinky to methis strangepresentation-wise it’s extremely uniquetastepumpkin II but this tastes begley and ittastes like the pumpkin bagel awesomebagel yeahthis ghost young is really important toadd a lot of aromatics to balance outthe paste itself so ginger garlicgreen onions okay better very edgybecause this is pushing the boundariesof what is a cookie creating two cookiesinto one cookie is it a cookie so Ithought the presentation was beautifulit’s just not to meit is very borderline cookie cake Ialmost put gochujang in as an experimentwith the expectation that it mighttotally fail but this is it’s not asstrong it actually baked out more than Ithought it would but the the heat isstill there which I quite like that wellthanks for all your cookies you guyswere gonna deliberate now and figure outwho’s the winner thank younow it’s time to talk about the guys andhow they did the next Frankensteincookie the thing that I didn’t like wasalso the same thing I loved I loved howeverybody tasted different I like to besurprised but I bit into a few bitesthat were terrible I didn’t like thecranberry I didn’t get any cranberry butI just need the presentation it justdoesn’t look like anything it looks alittle sloppy to me but this looks likeone of the first cookies I made when Iwas five years old it looks like thekids cook is perfect for a bake salethis one for sure what stands out for meis the butter content I mean you couldreally I mean that really brings out alot of flavor for it that nice littlehint of peanut butter really complementsthe chocolate it just stayed in the ovena bit too long and then let’s talk aboutthis oatmeal granola bar hiking buddy itjust crumbled though it did have nothingholding it together the first eversun-dried cookie yeah very creative themost creative out of all of them I likethe pecan and the Benoa side the most Imean cuz Eugene did extra credit he madetwo cookies and I will say this half wasreally balanced I really enjoyed it eventhough it pushed the boundaries of whatis a cookie based on the cookie criteriathis is a pancakethat’s a granola bar that’s a bagel okaybut have we made our decision I think wedo know number oneso there is a little suspense becausethere almost isn’t a number threethere’s a for a and a for B please youguys could also say that they tied forthird place there are no losers youguess there are two third places sowe’re gonna start with fourth place butjust know in your heart you’re alsothird yeah you’re also sick with theother search oh my gosh I’m getting hurtthis is for B 3 B majorly a texturething that it’s more of a pancake andthe cranberry and it was a littleuncouth there are three Jim cranberriesand the whole doesn’t feelhoodwink so hard right now some bitesit’s a bit like an audition room I guesswhen they say you did great wow thankyou very welcome now moving on to thirdplace which we decided was the oatmealcookie now this was because the textureagain is confusing and a borderlinebeing a granola bar wasn’t sweet enoughand very dry and a lot of cinnamon sosplitting the hairs we decided that thisone is a hair more of a cookie I don’tknow what I’m gonna do I am so happy tohear that I totally crushed Zac in hisbottom two is not bottom one so I willtake third place I’m thrilledI just cannot handle the thought of evergetting fourth place in one of thesecompetitions now for the winner this wasactually a unanimous decision by all ofus the top two cookies were excellentthis cookie the chocolate chip peanutbutter cookie was incredible excellentbutter content of flavors of the peanutbutter and the Chocolate were absolutelysuperb thisone creativity through the roof the twoflavors of cookies were fantastic weloved both cookies but for us it wasvery unanimous that the winner of thischallenge is[Music]Wow good ride congratulationsthanks judges today for eating ourcookies for giving us your wonderfulthoughts this was just the first episodewe got a whole season coming
