Ingredients
Makes 20
Cookie dough:
1 Cup Unsalted Butter (room temperature)
1 Cup Granulated White Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Egg
3 Cups All Purpose Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
Icing:
2 Cups Powdered Sugar
½ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
2½ Tablespoons Water
Food Coloring (Red, Yellow & Black)

preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Fahrenheit and gather all the
ingredients needed for the sugar cookie
dough in a large bowl cream butter and
sugar together into light and fluffy
with an electric mixer add vanilla
extract and egg and beat well until
combined in a separate bowl mix together
baking powder and flour slowly add in
the dry ingredients to the wet
ingredients incorporating a little at a
time with the mixer on low remove the
dough from the bowl and place on a
floured surface using your hands work
the dough until it comes together into a
bowl divide the dough into two roll out
onto a floured surface until 1/4 inch
thick chill the dough for at least an
hour in the freezer tip you can leave
the dough on the cutting board and
simply wrap the entire board with
plastic and place in the freezer cut
with a circular cookie cutter and place
onto a baking sheet covered in a sheet
of parchment paper tip you can use a
mason jar top or a cup as a cookie
cutter bacon preheated oven for about 10
minutes until edges start to turn golden
place the cookies on a wire rack to cool
cold completely before decorating gather
icing ingredients and a small bowl stir
together the powdered sugar water and
vanilla extract add a little extra water
if needed divide icing into four bowls
one for each color you’re using to
decorate add a couple drops of food
coloring and mix until evenly combined
pour each icing into a piping bag using
a short cup to help hold open the bag
tip you can use a plastic sandwich bag
and snip a corner to create a small hole
for piping decorate the cookies using
the piping bag and a toothpick start by
outlining the form you wish to draw and
then filling in
Center let each color dry before adding
the next use the toothpick for
fine-tuning your drawing in small
delicate details like eyes
